This past week, I have been talking to many of you about your arms. It is important to remember that our arms are connected to our backs, not just hung from your shoulders as an accessory! Here is what your back looks like inside: ![]() Notice how all the muscles that lead to the arms come from the center of the back? Those are the muscles you want to try and feel working when you use your arms. The analogy I want you to imagine is a bird in flight. Every flap of their wings begins at their spine and works its way out to their pinfeathers. Here is a video to look at that illustrates this rather well...do be patient though, the bird walks on the beach for the first 30 seconds! Birds in Flight Ok, so now, go and practice making your arms work just like bird wings! When you are done practicing, watch these videos. Both of them are of Maya Plisetskaya dancing the Dying Swan Variation, but they are filmed so differently that I included them both. She has the most amazing arms and back. This is your goal! Enjoy!
