The Jungle Book Cast
Thank you all for a wonderful audition! You all did a great job. Sadly, there were not enough parts to cast everyone, but if you didn't get cast, don't lose heart! You did great, and there is always next year! For those of you that did receive a part, please send me your email address to shapedance@yahoo.com. We'll have a brief meeting very soon, so watch for news.

Our new, fun way to keep in touch!
It occured to me in the middle of the night last night, that some of you may not know much about message boards, so I thought I would highlight some of the features here!
First of all, let me say that our board is brand new, and I am not yet using many of its features. But as I learn how to program new things, we can grow and change and this will be much more than a calendar, but a destination as well. Also, it is currently a bit difficult to find, so please bookmark this site. If all goes well, and we find that you are using the site, I'll get it a proper domain.
The purpose of our board is to have a fun, safe place to keep up to date and in touch with the Dance Co. family! Let's keep it family friendly and have a great time!
So let me show you around!
Our site has two main pages -
The Portal Page, which is like the front page of the newspaper. It looks like this:
And, The Forums Page, which looks like this:

About The Forums Page:
The forums page is both useful and fun. Once you are a member, you can not only read the information posted there, but you can post your own. You can start a new topic, or reply to a topic that is already created. I'll include tutorials on how to do everything later - but for now I'll just say find the Add Reply or Post New Topic buttons, and then pretend you are making an email that everyone can read!
The only rules - Be polite, Be appropriate (remember we have kids at the Dance Co. too!), try to put your posts where they belong - and always check in at the House Rules section from time to time...I'll be updating those as I see how the board develops.
About The Portal Page:
The Portal Page will generally have the latest and greatest news showing. However, it will only hold three articles for now, so make sure you check in on all of The Active Topics...which brings me to this: The Portal Page has the most available tools for navigating our site. Let me show you a few!
On the Left side of your Portal Page, you will see this:
In the top section, your options are:
View New Posts - which will show you where new posts have been made since your last visit.
My Controls - which allows you to set up your own avatar, signature (and later lots of cool things) and send Personal Messages to other board members (more on this later)
My Assistant - Which quite honestly is stuff two boxes down (so you probably won't need this
)
Log Out - No explanation needed.
The Second Box is your Personal Message folder which just lets you know if you have mail waiting to be read or not.
The Third Box is your Site Navigation Box:
Forums - will take you to the forum page.
Today's Active Topics - will take you to topics which have received responses in the last 24 hours (personally my favorite
)
Today's Top Ten Posters - will show you which members have made the most posts in the last 24 hours (no flooding the board with useless stuff though)
Contact Staff - will send an email to ME. You can use this function, or just PM me here on the board. This won't go to other teachers though - you'll need to use the PM function for that!!!
The Fourth Box is all fun!
And Finally for now - at the top of each page you should find this:
Just below our banner to the left, it says Portal, that of course will take you to the Portal Page.
Again, just below the banner, but to the left you will find
Help - Means Help.
Search - Will help you find a topic being discussed on the site.
Members - Will show you a list of all the members on the site.
Calendar - THIS IS THE BIG ONE!!! This will take you to the studio calendar. Please check this regularly!
Below the google ad bar (sorry they are just a fact of life)
you will find some of the same navigation tools as are on the Portal Page:
My Controls - takes you to your personal info
Inbox - tells you if you have mail
View New Posts - since you last checked
My Assistant - more navigation tools.
