Not long to go and i for one can't wait. There's nothing like the drama of world cup games. In the warm up match Roooney has got in hot water for swearing at a ref. during a warm up game. At first I thought 'here we go again' and felt critical that he can't keep it together. But then when i read an article, as opposed to hearing it on the headlines, it transpired that he'd been singled out for some pretty 'tasty' challenges that had gone unpunished by the ref. Appartntly USA are going to play on Rooney's temperament. But they want to be careful 'cause the refs in the actual world cup won't be so free to let players get away what the players in this warm up game have been trying to do |

England played there usual messy game last night. They put a few good moves together every now and again but for the 1st half the USA seemed to have all the posession. England will never learn how to keep possesion 'cause they're just not cool enough. Saying that though when they do put moves together I think they're always dangerous. There was lot of good things about the performance last night and we could have scored 3 or 4 times. The blunder was just typical of our world cup campagins...there's always something. ![]() apparently the people who work for the new york post either don't know english, or they don't know football. Or either. Frankie Lampard and Wayne Rooney need to learn to play for England and not only for their great rich teams in the premier league. Then again you have a team with the majority of players coming from Spurs So far Germany has been the best team but we need to see them against a better opponent. Same for Argentina. Can't wait to see the Netherlands tomorrow, they always play pleasant football. I liked Ghana very much and I hope they do well along the way. My other favourites that I haven't yet seen are Cameroon and the Ivory Coast. I wish Russia had qualified, it would have been so much more interesting. So far it's OK, if not a bit tiring, what with the vuvuzelas and all Edited by kink, Jun 14 2010, 12:55 AM.

bloody hell! That was awful! England made a few good moves to create a few 1/2 chances but apart from that they couldn't get near the ball and when they did they gave it away. Anyway, ultimatley, we know they can play a lot better and if we beat Slovenia then all this nightmare can be forgotten about and we can still go far in this tournament. It's gonna take a hell of a lot to come back from this though I heard Roooney say something to the camera as he was going off but it was only 'nice to get booed by your own fans'. I thought it might be somthing more brattish. |

This is very strange! Sir Trevor Brooking, the FA's head of football development, warned before the game of a talent gap between the seniors and European Championship-winning Under-17s. "World Cup 2014 will be difficult for England. I don't think there are the obvious quality ones coming through who can replicate what we have currently unless we can fast-track one or two of the younger ones," Brooking said So, the under 17's who won their European championship are less promising than the senior players who have failed to achive anything and have become a laughing stock! |

My views on the current England team and what should be done Some of them are o.k Ashley cole,i think Gerrard is still well up for it. Terry was holding his nerve fairly well and peforming well same with Carra, although he's a liablity cause of his lack of pace. I'm glad he's not availabel for the next game and i don't mean that disrespectfully. Glen Johnson seems to be a bit of a mess and a glory chaser who needs to stop thinking about himself so fuckin' much but i'd stick with him. Frank Lampard should be dropped. He's obviously totally lost his nerve as he did during the last world cup, saying that though I think if he is kept on then he can still come good but i think dropping him would help free Gerrard up to do more damage going forward.Putting Gerrard on the left is just ridiculous. Put Joe Cole, so long as he's fully fit, on the left and Wright-philips on the left, although Walcott is the better player imo and also has better temperament and experience with bigger games, I'd stick with Hesky up front just to help lay the ball off for Rooney and Gerrard and other players who get forward, not to mention he'll knock one in every now and again. Dropping Rooney 'cause he's out of sorts isn't an option. So, basically it's all down to Lampard for me. |

the guy with the dreadlocks crouching down 3rd from right is Glen Johnson. This is from his wiki In January 2007, Glen Johnson received an £80 on-the-spot fine when he was caught with friend and fellow footballer Ben May allegedly attempting to steal a toilet seat and other bathroom fittings from a B&Q Warehouse store in Dartford, Kent.[37] In the same Sky Sports interview, he claimed that he and his friend were not trying to steal the toilet seat, but rather they had been undercharged by a mere four pounds and security deemed this to be theft. Instead of taking the matter to court, he claimed that it would be easier to just accept the small fine rather than fight out the matter. i'm pretty sure it's not somone's idea of a joke

please be gentle. we are used to losing, but after our very first world cup victory against nigeria, people are hoping now and it's going to hurt when we are, well, pasted all the big european teams are SHIT so far, and if people are complaining about England, what should the French say? I like the Ivory Coast, but that idiot team ruiner SG Eriksson has ruined them too, he has turned them into defensive pussies like he's done with all the other teams he has destroyed. As I think I wrote before, I like Ghana, I like Paraguay, Uruguay, and I like Cameroon but I don't think they will qualify. Argentina has been very good so far. I haven't managed to watch Brazil yet, because every time they play I have to be somewhere. They defended, defended, defended and threw the ball to Samaras that was the only who tried to score a goal. Yeah.... Pretty good job.... If we put the eleven players in front of the goal, of course they couldn't score a damn goal.

I was talking about the whole game not just one shot.. I was listening to the game, not watching it. Even the announcers were surprised at how the game was going. What did you expect when a team is defending their goal? |

win or lose the drama of this avo's game is fuckin' priceless! Come on England!!! luckily there's some chicken...proper chicken as opposed to sliced processed chicken. So, i'm going to have my fav. chicken salad sarnie with mayo which if we win will henceforth be known as my lucky sarnie.

obviously the manager went for the draw, and indeed we only had one player up front, and many defensive players. He couldn't do anything all alone. Then we had three injuries (and replacements) in about 10 minutes, which were crucial because the team was fazed. It was 0-0 until the 80th minute. For our standards (pretty low), it was a good game. The player who had Messi did a remarkable job. After the three changes there wasn't much else we could do. We were all worried we would concede 4 or 5. Just two in the last ten minutes is quite OK Well done to England for managing to win after once again playing like crap. Frank Lampard should really be left out next time, really. |

Well well, it happened 1 time and the referee was very kind with Ivory Coast that was physically beating Brazil and gave a red card to Kaka later, so, it was not very unfair but Luis Fabiano goal wouldn't change the final result. Brazil was better in that game. |

the english ref had a tough game to referee when italy played Slovakia (or whoever it was ). i think my greatest claim to fame is having once been arrested by him! I'm not sure if that's true but he did used to be cop and when i've seen him refering matches in the english premier league he looked familar so i looked him up on wiki and he used to be a cop

I am happy to see Uruguay playing like a South American team, finally. Later USA vs Ghana. Ghana is the best African team. Everything is possible. As a group USA is better but it lacks individual talents and Ghana is Ghana, they are physically strong and creative. South Korea wanted to win. They are very good. A big surprise. |

The US gave it a good run but alas it was not to be. Saw most of the game and it was a pretty well fought game and the officiating was actually pretty decent. |

Well deserved victory for Ghana! Uruguay - Ghana is going to be a good game, I like them both but only one can proceed unfortunately. I am already a bit nervous about the England game. They have not been playing well at all, but they have been lucky. Germany is going to give them a hard time though so they should get serious now Edited by kink, Jun 27 2010, 12:04 PM.

at least USA don't have a national team that's full of world class players who get immense stage fright when someone gives them a chance to win the world cup. If England had the spirt of usa and every other team then we could have actually avoided being a major laughing stock...except no one's going to be laughing in Beneous aries, in Berlin, in Bogotoa or Lagos...they'll be sympathetic That's how sad and sorry the English football team is.

As to what went wrong apart from the nervousness well playing steven gerrard, one of the best central midfielders this country has ever produced on the left was the worst descion. Then there's playing John Terry, one of the best left centre backs on the right of defence. The there's putting Emile Hesky, one of the worst strikers this country has ever produced (the aforementioned defender John Terry has scored nearly as many goals for England (6 in 64 games V 7 in 61!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) well...putting him in the squad never mind the team. And who was our best player in the last two games? James Milner was. And who was taken off 1/2 way through the 2nd half? Yes. it was James Milner! The only credit the players get out of this is that they took there thumping on the chin. You could tell Frank Lampard was saying to Sebastain Sweinsteiger 'congratulations. you deserved that win...you totally outplayed us.good luck'. Even Wayne Rooney was humble in defeat. |

![]() if this clear goal had counted we might have seen a different match. Either way, England was poor once again, and Germany very much deserved the win. That'll teach them to pay an italian to manage the team. Well if you're going to play like that you might as well do it without a manager. I agree with you about Heskey. The "big stars" have been nothing but shite the whole tournament. No spirit, no ideas, no passion |
