Yeah, didn't you catch the story about the seal who was driving the boat in an OC harbor? It was all over the news.

Since she gave no concrete answers explaining the resignation and wouldn't answer questions, it's natural to wonder what this is really about. Is she freeing up time to campaign for 2012? Actually, this makes sense as it would give her more time to campaign and more time for research (perhaps a geography class is in order). On the other hand, if a 2012 bid for the presidency is what she's after, why not finish the job she started and get some real accomplishments under her belt as governor? Or is there a scandal looming? Seems to be the standard these days. In any event, looks like she'll continue to be in the spotlight. Maybe that's all part of the plan.

If she planned on running for President in 2012, I would think it would behoove her to finish the ob she is in as Governor of Alaska. Why step down because it's getting tough on her family? If she ran for president, is she going to quit in the middle of the job too because it's hard on the family? I smell something more coming on and she's getting out of office before the other shoe drops.

Agreed. Makes no sense, but then again, why start now? :P

I just don't get this and the more I think about it, the more irresponsible I think she is. She only had 18 months to finish a job that she said she is so qualified to do. I wonder what makes her think she could handle the vice-presidency if she couldn't finish what she started as governor?

I agree. The only logical thing it could be to me is something family related. Otherwise, it doesn't make much sense.

Haha!

Whatever her reasons, she isn't being up front with the people. How's that for politics as usual?
Either that, or she really does think that government is like a game of basketball and you can just hit the bench half-way through the third quarter while your deputy takes over. Is there anyone left who thinks she would have made a good VP? Or even a president?

To be fair, it is true that you can often do more good outside of politics. So if she turns up later as an organiser for Medicines sans Frontiers or running a homeless shelter, then fair enough.

Predictably enough, there are those blaming the big nasty media for all this. But seriously, how are you going to stand up to Ahmadinejad, Chavez or Putin if you can't even handle Katie Couric?
Put a puppet on it.

Might not be the greatest but she'd have allowed capitalism to survive.

To the extent that capitalism has been killed (which it hasn't), the only cause has been misadventure. Capitalism is its own worst enemy.

Alaska is the only state that pays its residents to live there. It takes millions in federal subsidies but doles out the resources royalties to all residents equally, without paying back the subsidies that helped them dig it all up in the first place. How's that for socialism? ;)

Dammit Bill, that would mean she would have to have brains! Oops, my bad! :sweet:

I have been hearing that the Republican Party thinks that if she should decide to run for President that she really should've finished out her term. Also I have been hearing that not all is very rosy in Alaska. She has not been exactly the sweetheart, popular, Governor that we were all led to believe. Her poll numbers have apparently been dropping and there have been attacks on her family, including her husband Todd and Downs Syndrome baby Trig.

Gotta love this clip from The View, today: http://abcnews.go.com/video/playerIndex?id=8013901.

What the hell is Whoopi wearing and dammit, Elizabeth Hasselbeck's pregnant again?!? :duh:

I'm not a fan of Sarah Palin but I really think her under-age kids should be off-limits when it comes to attacks and scrutiny by the media. Bristol, by virtue of her stepping foward as some sort of spokesperson and advice-giver for teens, is opening herself up to public discussion.

I can't fathom that ANYONE would make fun of the infant with Down's Syndrome. That crosses all boundaries of decency. :(

As much as I used to enjoy watching David Letterman, I have to say that I thought he was way out of line with his comments about the 14-year-old Palin daughter and I'm glad that he finally apologized. I also thought that Sarah was over the top with some of her statements regarding the matter. She does seem to have a penchant for exaggeration and drama.

"I choose to FIGHT for it! And I'll work hard for others who still believe in free enterprise and smaller government; strong national security for our country[/b] and support for our troops; energy independence; and for those who will protect freedom and equality and LIFE... I'll work for and campaign for those PROUD to be American, and those who are INSPIRED by our ideals and won't deride them.

I WILL support others who seek to serve, in or out of office, for the RIGHT reasons, and I don't care what party they're in or no party at all. Inside Alaska - or Outside Alaska.

But I won't do it from the Governor's desk. "

How she will fight for it if not from the Governor's desk?
