I can understand pre-sales for fan club members and the like, and also for ticket holders to the venue in this case, but I think the idea has become a joke. And if no-one is getting special treatment or a better deal, then what's the point? Anyone can get in on a pre-sale. I got an email this morning about the pre-sale for All American Rejects and Hoobastank. I've never heard any of their tunes, only vaguely heard the names. But I still get the pre-sale offer because I'm on the promoter's mailing list. I also get emails from the two major ticketing agencies touting pre-sales for bands that I'm not even a slight fan of, let alone a true fan. I think it's really just a way to spread their resources so there isn't such a mad rush when tickets go on sale. |
