For seven weeks only, the never-before-seen exhibition of the former Beatle’s life will feature at St George’s Hall. The free event will be kickstarted by a concert celebrating Harrison’s music. The concert and exhibition is the brainchild of fans’ group ForGeorge, which spent months putting all of the exhibits together. Spokesman Denise Theophilus said: “George was not just a Beatle – there was so much more to him. “He achieved an awful lot in his life and we want to celebrate that. “We are putting on a concert at St George’s Hall on August 1 to kickstart the exhibition. “August 1 was when George staged his original concert for Bangladesh and we are using it as inspiration for the event. “The artists we are using have all offered their services for free because they love George and want to celebrate his life. “Hopefully the concert will pay for itself and the exhibition and any money left over will go straight into George’s charity. “No one is getting paid for this. We want people to leave the concert and the exhibition with the understanding that George was more than just a Beatle.” The exhibition will be in seven different parts, because seven was George’s lucky number. Each section will explore a different part of his personality, from the Beatle and car maniac to the producer and the gardener. The display comes mainly from private collectors and much of it has never been seen before. Mrs Theophilus added: “There is a lot of side to George that people do not know about and we want to offer an in-depth look at him. “We originally wanted to start a museum in his memory, but that takes an awful lot of money to set up and to maintain. “An exhibition was the next best thing, but it is not permanent. “George was always known as the quiet one, but he had a wicked sense of humour. He and Paul tricked two fans into thinking that they were really brothers and George signed his name ‘George McCartney’ for them. “Our current focus is getting people to the concert, which is going to be a fantastic night.
