On Saturday 8th August at 11.30am it will be exactly 40 years since the photographs for the Abbey Road album cover were taken.

The crossing has since become the most famous road crossing in the world with many Beatles fans visiting and crossing it every day, much to the annoyance of passing motorists!

I've been there a few times now with other people from this board and was wondering if anyone will be there for the 40th anniversary? I haven't heard of anything going on yet, but it's still over two months away. I'm sure something will happen.

Well if my health improves it think I'd love to do that. I've never been and to go and meet up with some people on here or just a whole load of Beatle fans going on that days specially would be a special way of going for the first time.

I'm not 100% sure if I can make it myself. It's a way off yet. You do need to work though Dani to earn some more flight money to see Paul in Peru. If indeed he does perform there.

Crossing Abbey Road was one of the highlights of my tour to England (as you can see by my picture in my signature)! Hard to believe 40 years has gone by since the photographing of that album cover!

I remember when I first discovered the album thinking 'I can't believe it's over 20 years old'.

Now that doesn't seem that much, really. Mad.

So do I, especially as it's a saturday. I'm almost certain there will be a celebration to mark the occasion, much to the local's disgust lol. :yahoo:

It occured to me the other day that the Stone Roses' debut album is as old now to me as abbey rd. was to me when I first bought it...
