I bought the Star Club Tapes on 2 separate lps back in 1980. The sound quality was horrible and I only listened to them a couple of times before they were filed away for good. I traded them in a couple of years ago with the rest of my lps for store credit.

I don't miss them at all. But, I feel they are of importance because of their historical value. If I had to pick a favorite, it would be "Red Sails In The Sunset." I like their arrangement. A close 2nd would be "Ain't Nothin' Shakin' (But The Leaves On The Trees). I wouldn't say I had one least favorite of the bunch...I ranked them all a 3.

Honestly, I can't remember the last time I listened to these tapes. I actually have them on cassette tapes.

I bought The Star Club album the day it was released in 1977? listened to it a few times and put it away. A few years later I saw another album with more tracks on it. Bought it just for the beatles collection really. Just as bad.

In the 1980's I bought it on CD. Sound was better but still hard going. My favourite by far is Sweet Little Sixteen. Only other's I can remember that I like are Roll oVer beethoven, Mr. Moonlight, Besame Mucho and Long Tall Sally.

With every mistake we must surely be learning.

I bought this when it originally came out. I must say it just strengthened my opinion that the Beatles are/were at their best in the recording studio where they can utilize their creativity. An intimate setting (in the studio) is where their gifts with their incredible voices can be truly appreciated. On the other hand, having said this, and knowing this, anything they did is/was appreciated.

I don't have access to my LP collection right now (long story) but is this the record with Tony Sheridan?

I have that one and I think I only played it once. :bemused:
