Jayne and Alan will be tying the knot August 1, 2009.

She may have questions on what to do, flowers, invitations, etc. Hopefully we can give her ideas where she needs them. Hopefully we won't really confuse her. :giggle:

Tell us your theme, colors, preferences and what you have planned so far.

PEACE and love to my friends, Judy

Thank you Judy and Nancy  For people who dont know this is actually my second wedding but it is Alan's first - seems so weird doing it again but for some reason it seems so different too to last time.

now where do I start

Wedding venue: BOOKED - we are getting married in our local town hall
Information leaflet with pictures

Registrar: BOOKED - just gotta do wedding bands this month for legal purposes

Dress: Still looking but got 2 designs that I like - going to be in ivory

Bridesmaid dresses/MOH: Was chosen this weekend :) Just gotta get measurements to order them - going to be a midnight blue colour

headwear: I have decided against wearing a veil, but gonna have a tiara style and have similar for the bridesmaids / MOH

Shoes: I can wear heels this time :yahoo: again ivory

Reception: Got the same venue for both after the wedding and at night - just gotta sort out catering and menus once the owner comes back from his trip to Bulgaria

Flowers: still cant decide - argghhhhhh

Invitations: I did get in contact with a person who was selling lots of blank invitations and arts n crafts things relating to making my own invitations - I just hope they come soon coz I wanna design them and send them out asap

Rings: - ermmmm need to look at these. We are in a debate at mo whether to have matching rings or not

Wedding favours: Males are sorted, week before job, females I'm going to personally make with the witches

Cake: Sorted ;)

ermmmmm forgot other things I know, but at mo cant think lol :P

just seems so much to do but little time (even though it is over 4 months away) :P

love the color scheme. midnight blue will be gorgeous with your ivory dress. are you gonna have lace on your dress? a few girls at work are getting married and wedding dresses these days are soooooo different than what i remember them to be. i used to love the all lacey arms that form to a triangle at the knuckles. now they are very simple with no shoulders, really. just snug around the bust. why couldn't you wear heels the first time? are both your girls gonna be flower girls? and about the rings...gold or silver?

are you going on a honeymoon?

i hope you'll post your invitations here so we can see how they came out. (you can white out the particulars, addy, etc. so you won't have any unwanted guests. i hear in particular Peter might be crashing it, hehehe).

flowers....now that's a big decision. i think lilies of the valley are really pretty, small but they could maybe outline the actual bouquet.

cheers Nancy

you have heard the saying 'plain jane superbrain' well thats me lol :P I dont like alot of sequins and embroidery n things like that, but the 2 dresses i have took a fancy too dont have them either. im going to go to a shop or 2 to see if there are any other designs that may suit my 'body type' but the dress will either be either strapless or have spaghetti (thin) straps on them

couldnt wear heels first time round due to the ex being same height as me (well shorter actually - the short arse *&%*^$) - so wore ballet style shoes (which actually were really comfy), but Alan is 6 inches taller than me so can now wear heels :)

both witches are going to be bridesmaids and rings going to be gold but Alan as been looking at platinum rings which I am slowly coming round to the idea too - gotta have a nosey online to see if any take my fancy :)

honeymoon - no we wont be able to due to work and money :( :( but i'm sure we will be able to have a few days off together sometime after the wedding and make a weekend or so out of it

I'll defo post a pic of the invites (as soon as I get the arts things and make them) - I'm sure the artistic side of me will come out lol :P

Sounds terrific, Jayne!

What about music?
first dance is going to be one MAJOR dilema - we both have a song which we 'dedicate' to each other, and have done since we have been together, but its a sort of rock tune - not really a smoochie for a first dance (well it would be to us but not sure how others would take it lol :P )

we are just going to get a selection of different 'love' tunes for background music before the ceremony, afterwards - not a clue yet lol :P when we speak to the registrar to go through final details maybe they have an already made up cd or something - but we are both open to suggestions as we can take our own ready made CD ;)

Literally, terrific should mean terrible in the same way that horrific means horrible. But terrific is always used to mean "wonderful" or "fantastic." I don't know why.

we have both been a 'sort-of' busy bees today

- might have the flowers that I want (gotta take pictures into the florist and they are going to do them for me :D)

- Alan as picked his 'orange' wedding suit

- I said initially that we wouldnt be getting a photographer and using everyone who is going - but Alan as just seen a cracking deal online, they are local and seems a good deal - just gotta look at it more carefully (we still will be asking people who are attending to bring their cameras along and taking copies that way too)

- got an appointment for a bridal shop so can try dresses on (and they are local too :D)

Same here.

Betsy, maybe we could get someone to webcam the wedding!

Jayne, regarding taking piccies what a lot of people do here is the couple (or their coordinator) buys a lot of disposable cameras and gives them out at the reception so the guests can take the pictures of the reception. They then leave the camera so that the bride and groom can have them developed.

we are trying to get a webcam setup - im working on that ;)

we have asked everyone to bring digi cams and we are going to give everyone who takes picci's a dvd disc to put them and send back to us - we can share better that way than having to develop lots of cameras - cheaper too ;)

from the information pack that we have been sent, we get a pre-wedding consulation with the photographer and we write down all the photographs we want (which is included in the price). 1 defo picture we are going to have is one with my mum at least (long story but still a sore point after my last 'wedding'

I would be nervous too. So many decisions to make.

I remember when Bert and I and my sister and her hubby were married (double wedding), and the minister said, "till death do you part.", I started to cry. Later I thought it was funny that I cried then, being 3x around...man I have to stay married till one of us dies? But actually I thought, I don't want him (or me) to dye, I just found someone who is kind and gentle yet so strong.

my mum would murder me Judy if I wore pants :giggle: but I do like the style of the top picture on that link, in a way from a distance you wouldnt think it was a pant suit

If it was up to me and Al we would just wear jeans and t-shirt ;) (well Al as actually said he would still marry me in a spud sack  )

I have found 2 dresses that I like -

1 - zipped back, no train

2 - lace up back, 2ft train

both are very similar bodice wise, just very different with the fastening and trains

I am going to take my mum with me on Saturday to look at both dresses and she what she says - I have to one way or another choose one of them and get it ordered :pinch:

I love dresses. Maybe because I grew up wearing dresses to school. When my youngest went to try dresses on, the first one she tried on was the one she picked in a magazine. She tried it on, was happy with it and that was going to be it, with her. We had to beg her to try other dresses, which she did. Then we bought the first one she tried on, which she saw in a magazine.

Weddings are so much to plan. No more weddings for me till maybe the grand-daughter's get married.

Up-do is wearing all of your hair swept up on top of your head. There are various styles . . . soft, loose curls, or a French twist . . . all very pretty. Half up, half down would also look good.

You'll photograph better if you're wearing make-up. You don't have to make it look heavy or harsh. You can use just a bit of foundation to even out skin tone, a little bit of blush on cheeks, and some natural color of lip gloss. The main thing to accentuate is your eyes. You could apply just a little bit of light brown shadow in the crease of your eyelids, and then a lighter shade (almond or very pale pink) just above it. Then, swipe some mascara on your lashes and voila! You'll be amazed at what just a little color and definition can do for your looks . . . and your photos!

You can wear make-up without looking like a hooker on Sunset Blvd. ;) A little bit goes a long way.

looks like I'll have to raid the witches make-up bags and see what i can do :pinch: up to the age of 15/16 I was always in my mum's make-up bag and used to get told off by her loads for wearing it :-/ from then that age i rarely wore make up unless i was going to a party or something. Make-up to me as always been a 'why bother' especially when i know people love me for what i am like and not for me covering up (if that makes any sense). i know some natural make-up wouldnt do me any harm, but its getting back to my teenage years to start practising again

with his 'suits' the top one i prefer - but unfortunatley the colours will not go with the bridesmaids and colour scheme

Well, you'll look beautiful whether you wear make-up or not. I was just speaking from a photographer's point of view. I used to help people with a touch-up here or there, just to make them *pop* in their photos. Even the most beautiful models in the world wear make-up in their photos. Makes it easier for the camera to not make you *wash out* in your piccies.

Maybe you can influence Alan's decision and get a color that will harmonize with the rest of your color scheme. I know you have special powers of persuasion.

Btw, I could send you some make-up stuff to experiment with, if you'd like. Just let me know . . . ;)

Jayne, I envy you for being able to go without make-up and still look pretty. I would give my right arm --- heck, I'd give BOTH arms if I never had to wear make-up! I can't get away with that. I'm so pale. :P Once, someone took a photo of me in my natural state and the flash completely wiped out my face! I looked like an alien.

Maybe Al can be convinced if we post photos of Paul or some other handsome guy that's wearing a suit in a color that would go with the color scheme of the maids' dresses. Just sayin' . . . .

Wow Jayne getting near the countdown. :hyper:

As for makeup, Bev is right you don't have to wear much for it to really brighten up a photo as daylight and flash both wash people out who aren't wearing it.

One very good thing to do, for free, is go to a department store makeup counter and have them do you up to see what you think -- just make sure to tell them very light and very natural.

As for foundation best to go with something that you have gotten to match your skin tone, not too dark or too light. At the very least I would recommend some foundation (lightly applied), blush, a light lipgloss, small amount of light brown eyeshadow and mascara.

Actually Jayne what I meant is just walk into a department store makeup counter and let them do your makeup now -- just to see what looks good on you to get an idea from pros what you like and what suits your skin coloring.

Hope that turns out well for you Jayne. It helped me (10!) years ago, going to the dept. store telling them how I wanted to look having them make me up, then buying their makeup (which of course is what they want, but it works out well that way).

How is everything going for your preparations? It's so soon now! Do you have a registry I can look at?

A registry is where the couple goes to a department store, etc. and makes a list of what they would like as gifts. Most registries are available online, or a lot can be done online.

Sounds good on your plans -- who is taking photos? Any video being done?

oh right thats what a registry is :duh: we are not having one - because we are living together and got what we need we are not doing a gift list - just want our family and friends to enjoy our special day with us

for picci's we have got a professional photographer to do the wedding - weren't going to bother at first but got a good deal where they will do both day and night at the reception plus we get them all on a CD and will be copyrighted to us. as for videos - hopefully friends/family will bring a camcorder or 2 to record the day

we got my wedding ring today :yahoo: AND because it wont go with my engagement ring i got a new engagement ring too :yahoo: :yahoo: so for next month we have ordered Al's ring to match mine  we have gone for white gold which is lush  so i think upto now only men's suits to get then that will be it :D

Jayne ~ Glad everything is going smoothly! Just make sure your shoes, etc are all in one spot.

I remember looking for my heels and we couldn't find them. They were actually in the spot I had someone look, but they were in a shoe box and couldn't see them....DUH!! :duh: Must of been a man!!! Finally I went in the bedroom and there was the shoebox with my shoes!!! !0 minutes of insanity!!!

Charles & Barb  thank you, doesn't seem like it is 10 weeks on Saturday :o :o not that I'm counting down or anything lol

Judy  I've not even bought my shoes yet :pinch: and I really should because I dont really wear heels and I will have to wear them in around the house to get use to them :-/ so apart from Al's suit - add 4 pairs of shoes to the list for me and the MOH & BM's :P

Jayne some advice as things get close. :)

I heard about this somewhere and I did it for my wedding; and it worked so well to solve little problems that cropped up before the ceremony!

Get a plastic box with a lid; large shoebox size. Put in it things you will need (or could need in case of an emergency) for the day of the wedding -- masking tape (for the bottom of slippery shoes); sewing kit (we used this is as one of the groomsmen's tuxes had some problem); extra pantyhose; clear nail polish (for runs in hose); extra makeup like lip gloss; plastic drinking straws (sip soda or drinks with so as not to ruin lipstick); chocolate (always good anytime!); Tylenol (headache reliever); antacid or Tums for tummy ache; bandaids, first aids supplies; safety pins; shoe polish; breath mints, etc. Label the top "Jayne/Alan Wedding" in big letters and take it with you the day of the wedding. It helps to have all that stuff in one place and to get it all together a bit at a time.
