Watching CNN this morning, Vice President Joe Biden was asked about the web site and he said he was embarrassed because he didn't know it off hand.

Here is one links:

For some reason the other link didn't work. I'll have to check it out.

It all eludes me, that's for sure. Apparently, I could use the latest edition of Economics for Dummies.

I understand that spending can alter future growth and that growth results from producing more goods and services, but since the money can't come out of thin air, it must be taxed or borrowed, so how does that stimulate the already failing economy?

Don't these economic impacts take years?

Has this type of move been successful in the past?

I say help the little people out that these banks gave loans to, that they never should have. All the banks do is keep the money to themselves. Help lower the interest rates, borrow money to the small companies that will hire people.

I've had such terrible experiences with the big banks and investment firms. Just like David Letterman and
Stephen Spielberg, we lost a lot of money through careless bank antics, although nowhere near what they lost. I have no idea who to trust with our investments, what's left of it, any more.

I too need a book for dummies on investment and the economy.

More studying to do.

what I do think is Obama is hoping people use the money to catch up on bill and stuff. I think he means well. However, is a right choice. only have to see.

I think a loan for house should judge by how long you live in your house. I do not have good credit. However, I lived in my house for many years. Except when my ex who go loan for this house over me decided he was not going pay the house bill‘. Because, he was leaving me. We all paid him rent. In addition, he spent it. He lost house. I was lucky the new owner offer me to rent the house back. I have been in this all-together in this house 9 years. Except, when I had move out for 4 months. When my ex lost the house.

It seems to me that if we want to keep our money here, we should become oil independent. We are sending billions of dollars out of our country to buy oil and we could produce it here. It would create jobs because we would need to do off-shore drilling, build refineries, build pipelines, etc. I'm not sure the stimulus package zeroed into how to tap into our own resources. It seems like that would be more logical than giving it to the over 9,000 earmarks, many of which aren't going to create jobs or help the economy. We should become energy independent first and foremost. Why is this so hard to do?

Not without putting restrictions on the spending. For example, we need to restrict the amount of importing we do on foreign goods. We need to start supporting our industries, including the car industry. I am guilty of this but I won't be in the future. We need to become more patriotic and keep the money in our own country. We also need to start thinking of our own problems and not everyone else's. We give too much away!!!

Interesting...wasn't he put in charge of the website? Joe Biden hasn't impressed me at all so far. He seems like an embarassment to Obama.

That is what the USA did in the 1930's under roosevelt umm err compare the UK and the USA in the 1930's. And, see if you still think the same.

It's still less than the cost the Iraq war.

Even if we accept that the Iraq war has helped lots of people (which I don't), isn't it better than America looks after its own?

I find it incredibly curious that this spending bill gets so much more scrutiny than than the bank bailout and the war. It leads me to assume that people are less concerned about the copious spending and more about who is doing the spending and who they are spending it on.

War? Idiot banks? Hey, stuff happens!
Working families? Bloody socialists!
Put a puppet on it.

First it's a Trillion to bail out the banks and insurance companies, the it's $850 Billion for a "Stimulus" and then we had $400 Billion more today. And guess what, Obama says he's ending the war in Iraq in 18 months but leaving 50,000 troops there. Plus escalating Afghanistan. All I'm saying is these are people that never balanced a checkbook and they want me to pay for it.
Everybody's got something to hide 'cept for me and my monkey.

As for the independent of foreign oil, I'm all for it. I say the more independent of any oil we would be all the better for it. I found it rather disturbing that the US was the one who founded the use of solar energy yet ranks far behind Japan and France for using solar energy. That is not a good statistic especially if you're the one who started it.

I think we need to hold people like Angelo Mozilo, CEO and Founder of Countrywide, who leave their company with over a hundred million dollars in their pockets all from the backs of the little people who went for the subprime loans (who likely lost their houses and their shirts).
