Although this is in The Beatles section I'll post it here in case anyone misses it and want's to come along.

On the 30th January it will be 40 years since The Beatles performed the famous roof-top concert. To celebrate that occasion The Bootleg Beatles will be giving a concert from 12 noon till about 2pm. If anyones in London and wants to come along, just add your name. So far it's:

Jim
Dani
Andy (If he can get day off work)

That's the day we're moving to our new house and I'm guessing Caz won't be best pleased if I clear off for a jolly that day, but I look forward to hearing all about it.

I've just read that this concert has been cancelled. This is due to Westminster Council and the Police. They came up with health and safety rules that were unworkable and financially impossible.

So once again heath and safety has spoilt something that people would have enjoyed.

That does suck I'm also sure the Bootlegs did something like this only 10 years ago so its mad they arent letting it happen now, but I still think we should have a meetup

Although the Bootleg Beatles playing on the roof of 3 Savile Row has been cancelled both Dani and myself will still go along and see what, if anything, happens.

From what I know so far fans from The British Beatles Fan Club and Norwegian Fan Club will be there. So there will still be a bit of fun...and someone may bring a ghetto blaster and play a CD of the original concert. :D . Until the local cops stop it.lol.

I shall let you know what, if anything, happens on Friday. Any other boardies in the area please come along and join us.

And you are a good London guide, Jim. I already know that. I will be in London and available from July 27-29. Three days. I actually arrive July 27, but I need to recover from jet lag that day. I go to Liverpool on July 30.

I arrived at 3 Savile Row at 11.30 am and Dani arrived five minutes later. The concert by The Bootleg Beatles was cancelled but our disapointment was more than made up by going onto the roof! :yahoo: There were around 30 fans outside, many on the Beatles guide walk. As a member of The British Beatles Fan Club I know some members and managed to get Dani and myself onto the tour to the roof. After the long climb up the stairs we finally made it to the spot where The Beatles played their last concet forty years to the day. There has been a few changes up there over the years. According to Richard Porter, the Beatles tour guide, it's the first time a tour party has gone up there. So we were really lucky.

Westminster Council is finally goint to put a sign outside commemerating the fact that The Beatles played their last concert there.

While we were waiting outside Charlie Watts, The Rolling Stones drummer walked past. Maybe he went to get a suit as that's what Savile Row is famous for.

After we went for a meal then Dani went to Abbey Road and I came home.

Now, What Beatle event is next?

The building is empty now yes, its pretty much a construction site as they work on it for whatever purposes. We saw Derek Taylor's office as well. We saw a heap of other rooms (some of which the doors were closed because only builders were allowed to enter) as we walked up the load of stairs they have but didnt know what belonged to who. It has the potential to be really nice inside once they work on it some more.

Apparently we will pretty much be some of the last to see the roof as close to how The Beatles played on it because they plan to re-do it all. So I feel very lucky to have seen it

You may be on the right path Olia, not Starbucks though.

I read a message in another forum from a guy who was also there. He said that the girl who was showing us round told him that she's going to open a coffee bar there and allow visits to the roof. But he didn't know if she was joking or not. Although it would certainly be the most popular coffee bar in London I could not imagine anyone allowing a non-stop procession of people going up and down the stairs all day long. I think it must have been a joke.

No Linda, never even been in the building before. I went into the Apple office when they were in Wigmore Street when I was a messenger boy to collect some photo's.

I did ask if anyone knew where each Beatle had their office but no-one really knew. As someone said, they were not really business men. Maybe they just used wherever was free.
