Yup.. I am officially a Japanese TV Star.... I have been meaning to post about this for the past few days but haven't had a the time.. so I am making time so that I can write about it while its still fresh in my mind. On November 21, I had to run to Staples to buy some business card paper for a client. While I was in Staples, I was walking up and down the aisles look for this stupid paper, and this woman approached me. "Do you act" I laughed and said not really. She said that she doesn't usually do this but she is a casting director and she was casting for a Japanese show and she was looking for a plus size person and was wondering if I was interested in doing it. They pay $500 bucks a day and it will be a couple of days up in San Fransisco. I said sure, why not. She gave me her contact info and I gave her mine.. and then walked off to buy my paper. I thought nothing of it, and was really going to just blow it off. So I stopped at the Store to finish out my errands and made my way back to the studio to tell Robert that I got picked up in Staples. When I got in there, Robert tells me that this casting director had called for me. (Already.. i just saw her like 30 minutes ago.. huh.. she must be serious). So I called her back and she told me a little more about the show. She said that they were casting up in San Fran but she would like to submit my photos and asked if I had any. Well just so happens I am dating one of the best photographers IN all of Southern California so Yes, I can get some photos to you.... So I emailed them off and thought that was that. There is no way these people are going to pick me. During the Thanksgiving break I didnt even really think about it much When we were driving back to LA (from spending the weekend with my parents) I got a call from the Casting Director. They loved my photo and they want to use me. The only catch is they moved up the production.. Are you available the 2nd of December. I SURE AM! ![]() So I get the email with my flight and everything.... and I am flying off the San Fransisco. The show we are filming is called something like Amazingly True Stories, and is the number 3 show in Japan. What it does is recreate amazing news stories that they play and I guess a panel of famous people talk about the story as it happens. So the story that we were going to be shoting is this one. http://www.pickmeupmagazine.co.uk/real_lives/our_big_fat_wedding_article_257366.html I am going to play Margaret, the one who dies :(. But its good cause my death causes my best friend and my brother to loose a lot of weight and they all live happily ever after. ![]() So, I got in to SF early in the morning and meet the two other cast memebers who were going to play my best friend and my brother. (This is so cool)! We hopped in the car with Yo. Yo was a sweet Japanese guy with this HUGE fro. There was three guys on the set with the name Yo, so we called this Yo.... FRO YO! We drove about an hour out of San Fran, to this cute little house where we started shooting right away. The director of the show didnt speak any english and one of the other Yo's was the assistant director and did all the translation. The first scene I was soo nervous. I had to open the door and welcome in my friend. Action, I opened the door and felt like I made a complete fool of my self. "CUT-0" was yelled out in Japanese... "Crap" I suck at this. Another take, and bamn.. I nailed it. We move on. It was a long day... full of a bunch of takes but luckily, we all seemed to be giving the director what he needed. I was so proud of myself!Extras came in and they did some more scenes, including my scene where I died. Which was fun, cause I got to lay down and take a nap.. lol! Many of the scenes I had to eat, and eat, and eat, which wasnt so bad, except for the pizza. It was HORRIBLE hard, cold, frozen pizza... barf! Before we know it.. it was time for my Martini Shot.. which means my last shot of the day.. woo hoo. "Cut-o"... and Done for the day. The other two finished out a few more scenes and then we wrapped up and got drove back to our hotel. We were invited to dinner with the production company and had a great Thai meal with everyone. I learned a lot about the Japanese culture during that dinner, like that its not right too pour your own beer. (HUH) Finally I made it to bed.. I was so tired... who knew that this was so much work! 7am came awefully quick! Luckily we were shooting at the hotel, I walked down stairs and there was a bunch of extras showing up. We were shooting the party scene where the two main characters (myself and Dawn) meet for the first time! This now, was a little uncomfortable cause I had to eat a lot of food infront of a lot of people. And in the scene my "boss" was pointing and laughing at me.. "Like get a load of the tub of lard over there". I was surpised to me that it would effect me so much.. i even felt myself getting a little teary eyed.. I tried to hide my tears but one of the production team saw me and asked if I was ok.. yes.. I am fine.. its just hard you know. "CUT-O" Thats a wrap. They were going to head off to the park to shoot my funeral.. so I wasnt going to be in that scene.. I was done! My stint as a TV star was offically over. Sigh! I said good by to everyone and had to wait a little bit before I hailed a cab to get back to the airport. As I got on the plane, I left my life as a movie star behind. It was fun, a lot of fun actually. I would do it any day. It was also a lot of work. I learned a lot about myself in those short few days. I learned that I have a lot more to give than I ever thought possible. Good times.. ok.. "CUT-O" |

Cool sounds like you had fun. I remember spending some time in a film studio when I was at University, it was so interesting. I learned a lot about the technical side of film-making. Plus I snagged a blink-and-you-missed-it spot one of the BBC shows they were shooting.

That's brilliant, Anna - what a great day, plus you got paid for it! You'll have to give us the links for when it airs and, inevitably, makes it online!
