What do you see when you look in the mirror? Do you think that you're looking good and are happy with what you see, or do you look at all of your supposed flaws and wish you could change yourself in some way? Do you use "beauty" products, or do you just go out the way you were naturally made? Does it feel good to be you?

I am very happy with myself and like what I see in the mirror. I don't use any skincare products, I don't own a face cream or anything just make up. I am very happy with my body i'm even coming to accept my Caesarean Section scar. I don't think i'd want to be thinner than I am even if I could do to lose a bit, I love my chest too much to see it go |

i am very happy with the fact that it's HEALTHY. and you can't ask for much more than that. beauty is only skin deep. i suppose it would be nice to shed a few pounds but it's not imperative. no one's perfect. |

Yes, I am-finally. I work with weights (but don't do nearly enough cardio) I'm a 56 y.o. grandma-and usually get mistaken for someone in their 40's. I have never smoked or drank liquor, but I don't have good eating habits.

I'm constantly unhappy with my weight, but by the same token, it's my own fault cos it's down to me to do something about it so the unhappiness is mainly me being annoyed at myself than anything else. Other than that, I'm not totally unhappy. I'm getting more wrinkly, etc. as the years pass by, but growing old doesn't really bother me so I don't spend a fortune in creams and lotions. I do wear a bit of make up when I go out, but not as much as I did when I was younger. |

What do I see when I look in the mirror? I see my image reflected in the mirror When I look in the mirror I see a person who takes care of herself. That's why I go to the gym (and I HATE gym). Sometimes I am happy with what I see, sometimes I am not. Sometimes I wake up and everything looks ok, sometimes things just don't look good.I think being healthy is important but feeling good in your skin is very important and I don't feel good when I have extra pounds, when I don't get a haircut, when I don't wear good clothes. It's cultural, I guess. I use beauty products, creams, anti celulite creams (lol), make up etc. It doesn't make me less natural, it's like going to the gym. When you go to the gym your body changes, it doesn't mean your less natural, you're just getting better. It feels ok to be. What about you Andy? |

Sadly I am not very happy with my body. I'm not overweight but I would like to lose a stone or two. It's totally ridiculous because to do that I'd have to diet, which would make me unhappy - then I'd have to keep dieting to keep it off, which again, would make me unhappy. So really I should accept and embrace the way I am and I would be happier. But with so much pressure on women to look a certain way, unless you have the thickest skin in the world, that's damn near impossible. |

It's good that we've had largely positive posts so far. As for me, when I look in the mirror, I don't always like what I see. I'm conscious of my ever growing collection of grey hairs and my slightly receeding hairline - I suppose it's all about learning to live with your body as it changes. I could also stand to lose weight as well. Quite a bit, actually. It annoys me that, compared to many people, I have a decent diet and generally, every day, watch my calories, but I seem to put on weight so easily. I don't believe in body fascism, so I try to be happy with my body... it's the only one I've got, right? Most of the time I'm comfortable with the way I look, but I think I'm my own biggest critic. I didn't know how attached I was to my youth until I started to lose it! Still, Fiona complains about various aspects of her body, about her weight, and I don't know what she's talking about - I think she's absolutely gorgeous and I wouldn't change her for the world. Perhaps I should try harder to accept how I am while, at the same time, looking after myself as much as I possibly can. Oh, and I don't really use beauty products, apart from an after-shave balm so that my skin doesn't get irritated. |

I am happy with my body, with the exception of havin 2 diffrent colored eyes *it's odd* but some find it cool or "awesome" which is irritating. But ne ways, I'm happy that since my metabolism is so high, I can eat things in large quanities and not gain a pound. And the reason I conclude is , it is because I constantly walk, and excercise and never have time for it to store as body fat. I'm waiting though, sure enough watch in 10yrs or so, it'll catch up to me and i'll look like the goodyear blimp floating high above football stadiums on tv for the NFL on sundays...

I've never been very satisfied with my body, but I also have a high metabolic rate which helps me burn off the extra pounds pretty easily. Oh, and I also do lots of walking just for the pleasure of it. I wear make-up, don't feel 'complete' without it, but I don't go to a great deal of trouble with body creams or any of that sort of thing. Overall, I just try to stay healthy, I think that's the most important thing a person can do. THAT and try to keep a positive frame of mind. Merry

Two different coloured eyes, eh Musicman75? So how many times have people "informed" you that you share the same feature as David Bowie?

I don't mind the grey hairs that I see in the mirror. I feel that I have earned them. I do mind the weight that I have put on and would like to take off. |

I weighed over 200lbs before, and now I weigh 170lbs. So how did I lose it all someone might wonder?? Well something my mom always told me back when I was growing up: Walk, walk and walk. It's the best way to lose un-needed weight, it lowers your blood pressure, it's calming *hearing dogs bark, birds chirping, neighbors yelling at one another etc etc.* but in time, if u stick to it, you will lose it in no time. Listen to a I-pod or portable radio , and the miles will go by. Start slow, only a lap or so around your block, then go 2 blks, then 5 etc. Increasing the distance by so much in a week or 2. And of course to help, eat sensibly, grilled chicken, and salads helped me alot, i've cut red meat out almost completly out of my diet now. But i do eat a steak or yummy angus burger with onions when I get the urge. hehehe.

I appreciate what I have but I wouldn't say I am satisfied. And I do do what I can with cheap products and probably the most minimal lifestyle alterations. I wish I could do better.

It's probably my biggest flaw - not ever accepting or being happy with what I see. I'm somewhat ashamed that at my age, that I haven't come to terms with body acceptance. I'm getting better, but it's been a life long curse. |

Well how do I follow that??? I have never been happy with any part of physical body except for my hair. I have been on a constant diet since I'm 15 and have been waiting for my skin to clear since I'm 16. I am however happy with who I am and that is much more important to me. |

While growing up (or trying to) I was called the smart one and my sister was the pretty one. We later decided it is likely the reverse. I try to look in the mirror as seldom as possible. I am as God made me, good or bad, and I cannot take any credit or blame. I think if he could create every living thing that has ever existed and will exist everywhere in the universe then this is probably how I should look. The only beauty products I use are moisturisers and lotions. I have light skin that does not react well to harsh sunlight. It feels very good to be me. Thank you for asking. |
