FORMER Beatle Ringo Starr today claimed he is “too busy” for autographs and has “too much to do” to keep signing objects sent by loyal fans.In a video posted on his official website, he made a 43-second speech, insisting the decision was made with “peace and love, peace and love”. Wearing dark sunglasses and a black top, Starr claimed it was a “serious message to everybody watching my update”. The 68-year-old drummer said: “Nothing will be signed after October 20. If that is the date on the envelope, it is going to be tossed. Video here |

Sounds like he's going to get a flood of mail between now and then. |

I don't know quite how to take this....maybe it's cause I'm in a sensitive mood today....but I think Ringo needs to remember his fans are the ones that keep things going for him. Yes, he's busy but he should never forget his fans. Sounds a bit upity to me. |
|
And in the end...The love you take..Is equal to the love you make. | |

DOes that mean that he's only stopping signing stuff people send? That's how i see it. Why doesn't he just ignore it all, i'd have presumed he's have had to do that a lot anyway. |

I find it quite uppity, Diane. In his defense, I will say that he did send me an autograph a few years back. I will also say that Paul has never sent me an autograph. |

Ringo Gives Fans the V Sign -- Gordon Smart, Oct. 13, 2008 THE SUN I ALWAYS had RINGO STARR down as the best character in THE BEATLES. But with only ten weeks until Christmas, the wrinkly rocker has told his loyal fans he will soon throw away everything sent to him. That means all requests for autographs will end up in the bin. I reckon Ringo is out of order and it seems out of character too. Even a host of his trademark “peace and love” sentiments struggle to disguise his foul mood. In a video clip on his website, Ringo tells fans: “This is a serious message to everybody watching my update. Peace and love. Peace and love. “I want to tell you after the 20th of October please do not send fan mail to any address you have. Nothing will be signed after the 20th of October. If that is the date on the envelope, it’s gonna be tossed. “I’m warning you with peace and love I have too much to do. So no more fan mail. Thank you, thank you. And no objects to be signed. Nothing. “Anyway, peace and love, peace and love.” It doesn’t matter how much peace and love you dish out Ringo – surely you can hire someone to keep your fans happy? It’s only a bit of mail. DAVID BOWIE and MACCA manage to keep their legions of fans happy – just by giving them the time of day on their websites. And what is Ringo busy doing? Since the latest album, Liverpool 8, was released in January he has been sipping sparkling water in LA, the South of France and Surrey. It’s Ringo’s second massive blunder this year. When he released his Liverpool album he told JONATHAN ROSS he rarely returns to his home city and doesn’t miss a thing about it. Then, when asked if he would move back there, he pulled a comedy face. Radio phone-ins in the city got loads of complaints and there were tirades against him on the internet. This latest howler won’t do anything to patch things up. I reckon all Beatles fans should send Ringo something before his October deadline. And so Sun readers don’t miss out after the date, I’m printing a cut-out-and-keep autograph for you. Print the page and save your own piece of music memorabilia! Now I’m off to wrap up my Thomas The Tank Engine to send to Ringo to sign. He did a good job voicing Gordon the grumpy express train. |

You know.. I'm not quite sure what to say to this, so I apologize if it comes out wrong. But I do find it abit rude. Throwing letters away that his FANS sent him? It was the fans that made him who he is today! Sure they all made the music and the movies, but we're the one's who bought it all! I'm sorry but I just find this rather rude. He's sure a grumpy old man these days. but hey... it's just another bit to make me less of a fan of his. |

Well, I suppose so. Paul doesn't seem to have any contact with people on his website, and I have no idea about David Bowie. One thing that interests me about Ringo's website is that there is no message board. I wonder though if he realizes he might not get a lot of traffic and that would be embarrassing. |

I don't know of anyone as famous as Ringo who has signed and returned anything that fans send him for as long as Ringo has. It seems that those who have never bothered get a pass, but Ringo's a dick for giving everyone plenty of warning that he's going to have better things to do. You've still got a week to send things if you want to and I think it's very understanding that he's chosen to go by the postmark and not the date received. What's more, he's said it himself rather than have his publicist and webmaster put it out there. Lord knows how much stuff he must get sent to him every week. If he needs a break from it, then fine - and good on him for giving everyone fair warning of the change in policy. |

It was over a year from the time I sent my request to Ringo. He did not sign what I sent to him. I received something totally different and have always suspected it was an autopen. I was on one of Ringo's MSN chats a few years ago. I got three questions of mine answered because there were only about 35 people in the room. When Paul does one of these, there are several rooms and few people get questions answered. Ringo answered one question that I had sent in ahead of time and two that I sent at the time of the chat. |
