Another death at our house.

 My uncle had a few strokes late last year when he waas living with us. It looked like he would have to stay in a nursing home because of his vision and just the daily taking care of himself would have been too much for him.

When his partner Glen, from the past found out, he volunteered to take care of Uncle Albert. Glen moved in last December 2007. Glen did this out of the kindness of his heart, not a penny would he take. He has taken care of Albert and become a family friend whom we loved. Last week I was sick as a dog with fever, flu and cold and he took such good care of me. But then he caught what I had and I think he took the wrong medicine. Bert went upstairs to give them chicken noodle soup and ginger al. When he realized Glen wasn't sleeping but dead. He came running to the other side of the house and told me to call the police, that Glen was dead and he had been vomiting blood all over. Tomorrow an autopsy will be done to let us all know what he died from. Very sad. He was like my best girlfriend. He had a heart of gold and loved taking care of others.

RIP Glen.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. It's just so unexpected and he was only 54 years old. I feel sorry for my uncle because I don't know what will happen to him. He can't take care of himself and it's too hard for Bert and I. Especially with Bert getting involved in his new business venture. I would feel awful if Uncle Albert had to go into a nursing home. He does have a sister who lives 20 minutes max away from our home. It's just a matter of his daily care. He served 3 years in Viet Nam till they made him go home.

I really miss Glen, such a sweetheart and a caring person to all.

Judy - please accept my condolences on your loss. You really seem to be getting more than your share of sad events. Glen sounded like a great guy and I hope your uncle can get the care he needs without burdening you and Bert. I know how hard it is to take care of someone else. You need to take care of yourself as well. You're in my thoughts. Sending you a big hug

Life is fragile, and so often taken for granted. With all that can go wrong, it's amazing we live as long as we do. And it's never long enough.

I don't know you as I'm new here, but please accept my sympathies.

I can tell you that while I never met Glen, Uncle Albert was a totally adorable man when I was there a year ago. His strokes happened after my visit. Uncle Albert is a man who is very easy to like and enjoy.

Thank you again everyone for your kind thoughts.

Linda ~ Thank you, yes Uncle Albert is a adorable person. While he is quiet and tends to keep to himself, he doesn't have a mean bone in his body. I feel sorry for him as his health isn't well and he normally eats like a bird. He'll be living with his sister Nora and her husband whom some of you met in Vegas.

We found out Glen was at end stage of liver damage. He was a drinker but more of a closet drinker here although you would know he was drinking. The coroner said Glen ruptured his liver and stomach when he was vomitting so hard. He was drinking vodka and taking the wrong cough syrup for someone with a bad heart too.

I wish I knew all of this when he moved in, at least to keep his drinking under supervision and get him help for his liver.

Now we only have my nephew staying with us.

I think we need to have this part of the house blessed with 2 deaths back there. I'm serious!

PEACE and love to my friends, Judy

I'm glad that Uncle Albert has a place to stay.

It sounds like a very good idea to have that part of the house blessed.
