After George took us through LIPA, we had a bite to eat at John's favorite bar, the Phil.

That paradventure was with Lisa. That was the crazy day we picked up my ticket, made the tour bus in seconds flat (they actually left two people behind), did the tour of the houses, met George at LIPA and on the way back stopped at the Phil for some food. Our drive on the house tour told us that John went to the Phil all the time and had used the toilets there. He told us if you ask the bartender, they will escort women in to take pictures, but I didn't go that far. If I recall correctly that was on the way to meet George, so we were short of time. Lisa walked to the top of the cathedral after we did LIPA. I had tea. ^o)

I am so sad that we didn't have time to even visit the beach there! Liz (the proprietor of the guesthouse) said there were some type of lifesized metal statues on display there (some kind of art thing). We simply did not have enough time in L'pool and will definitely have to make another trip to do the things I missed (like the Casbah and Matthew St and that Beatles store and more sightseeing of the whole area)!

Lisa you didn't make it to Mathew Street? Oh you absolutely HAVE to come back! Lovely (though not so much now) Peter took me there my first night in Liverpool and it was brilliant. He even willingly took my photos! I'm going back next August for Beatle Week and a few other things.

Oh ya, did you get my PM?

Yes, Jayne, I think that's what they were called; I couldn't remember. Liz said they were lined up on Blundellsands Beach; would've been fun to see! Where are they now?

The actual anthony gormley statues are still on the beach but in 1993 anthony gormley worked with loads of people from my town making a 'miniture' army of statues and they have now come back into our town and are on display in our local college

I'll grab the links in a mo for you Heidi

A picture of the "Liver Birds". Every one we talked to (cab drivers, tour guides, etc) talked about these statues, and what they meant.

I love that building Rose and I couldn't help thinking that it's probably one of the few buildings left that was there when the lads were growing up. Paul saw that thing everyday! What is the story behind the birds?

"This prominent display of two liver birds rekindled the idea that the liver was a mythical bird that once haunted the local shoreline. According to popular legend, they are a male and female pair, the female looking out to sea, (watching for the seamen to return safely home) whilst the male looks towards the city (making sure the pubs are open). Local legend also holds that the birds face away from each other as, if were they to mate and fly away, the city would cease to exist. In fact, they were indeed designed to watch the City (Our People) and the Sea (Our Prosperity)."

This is pretty much what we were told each time.

Cool thanks.

Reminds me of a statue of an eagle on the top of a building where I went to college. The legend is, if a virgin ever graduated the bird would fly away. I think it's still there!!

Well have just shown mother and stepfather the photos posted since the 9th, her comments in quotation marks.

On Jilly and her back, disapproving stare " what are you doing to that poor girl"till i pointed out the tattoo then it turned into omg i gave birth to him.

On Kinky standing hug "that poor girl is thinking how can i get away from him".

On Kinky on lap "that poor girl is thinking when is he going to stop talking".

This is my mother saying things to me, go ahead mother build ones confidence up before i jump into the murky waters of dating hell again after an enforced absence courtesy of the NHS.

Only slightly ameliorated by the pair of them seeing Mark and expressions of holy christ, omg is that Mark, they haven't seen him for 29 years.

I have duly informed mother that had i been working, i would have gladly paid half of the bills for her staying in a home, during this incapacitation.

Well, here's another clue for you all, the Walrus was Paul...
Brian and I were talking about our trip last night (its really the first time the two of us have been together for any length of time since we got home)
and someone asked him "QUICK! Name your 3 favorite things about the trip!"
His were...and this kinda surprised me...
1. The concert.
2. Wicked
3. Westminster Abbey

He asked me...

1. Concert.
2.Tour inside forthlin and mendips.
3. Abbey Road.

We both decided that we would really like to go back to Liverpool (and London). I found that most interesting...and now I look forward to going back someday.

For some strange reason, they served us in pairs. There were 8 of us. They served Lisa and me first. Then Lisa (Jac) and Peter, then Jayne and Alan and then the witches. I felt so bad for those poor kids having to wiat while we all ate our dinners.

Liverpool memories

I arrived early for the meetup so I walked around St Johns a bit and then sat down to have a bit of lunch. As I was enjoying whatever it was I was enjoying, I heard someone playing the Beatles (Here comes the sun) from a distance. Intrigued, I approached the man who was now singing Cohen's Hallelujah, and watched him play for a while. He was really good, and very good looking  I don't know how I managed that because I am normally quite shy, but I went up to him and had a bit of a chat, about his music of course :P He asked if I was there for Macca's concert, I said yes of course, but obviously Liverpool had much more to show for itself. I think that city turns us all into hussies.
Anyway, I bought a demo CD he had, mostly of covers but with a couple of his own songs too. His myspace is http://www.myspace.com/jonnywalkermusic - listen to his songs, Summertime especially is quite beautiful.

This had nothing to do with the meet-up or the concert, but aaaaah I loved reminiscing.

Yes Lisa that is curry night. And we look bored because the service was, um, VERY very glacially slow.... :duh:
I apologise on behalf of the United Kingdom and all if its residents that you were all subjected to "Curry Night" at a J. D. Wetherspoons.

What they serve is absolutely nothing like the aromatic, delicious authentic curries you could get at a reputable, established Indian restaurant, for which the UK is modestly famous.

Of course, at Wetherspoons it is a fraction of the price, but there is a good reason for that. :P
...and in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.

is now a happily married woman x
it was either waiting an hour at a beefeater pub (which we had been drinking at for 2-3hours) or going into the local weatherspoon for curry night - which would you chose ?? :D

I had a conversation with a cabbie regarding pot, but I have no memory about why I had it. Go figure.

I think I am in love
He is more than a good looking guy...I loved the summertime song and can't stop listening to it. He call himself a "Rock Folk Troubador", isn't he perfect? He grew up in South America, I wonder where...

It seemed like we waited two hours at Weatherspoons for that food. Don't know if it was that long or not, but it felt like it.

Without my hero, Alan, I would have had my bag stolen as we returned to the meet up from Lime Street.

A strange force made me log in and add him, and I don't go to myspace very often

Very beautiful song. What about his demo cd?

it's pretty good, he's covered various artists from James Taylor to Neil Young to Tears For Fears to you name it. It also has the two songs that are on myspace. They are all on acoustic guitar and his lovely voice.

That day I saw him play, he told me he'd play again that night and that I should go if I wanted... but then Peter started taking his clothes off and, well, I couldn't leave the party :P

Peter dropping his britches was one of the highlights of the party and I am so glad you stayed, Olia.
