Hi Mclenarr here, i got the hard sell from JLB so here i am. I've been a Beatle fan since 1987 when i raided my mums old 45's which was mainly the early singles but she also had With the...but in AHDN cover and so i tried that and as soon as i heard It won't be long i thought it was the most irristable song i'd ever heard. Then i got a book out the library called the greatest 100 lp's and Sgt.Pepper was #1. So i got it and loved it. Then rapidly bought all the others and the solo stuff...all 2nd hand vinyl for about £3 each. One day i got the White album Rubber soul and Ram all for less than a tenner and boy did i not know where to start when i got home. My faves Beatle songs are Penny lane, lovely rita, If i fell, It won't be long, Savoy truffle, hello goodbye and I am the walrus...generally speaking. My fav solo songs are London town, try some buy some, mind games and backoff boogaloo. |

Yeah i'm a long time fan but new to the net. So it's great to find out so much and the Youtube phenom. is just amzing for Beatle clips. I was never sure if Pauls 'It's a drag isn't it?' quote was a rumour or not and there it is the actual footage!!! |

The other thing about YouTube is that it gives proper context to Paul's comment and shows that he was really lost for words, whereas in print it always comes across as planned. ;) |

Maybe was being flippant as a sarcastic dig at the media because it obviously didn't mean so much to them except as a story or something...I dunno it's so f'in' strange. |

I think because it was such a huge shock, Paul really had no clue what to say or how to react. He obviously felt obliged to say something though, it was taken out of context and the media just ran with it. |

I don't think there was any planning to it at all. We all know how grief can throw you for a loop. So put yourself in Paul's position - you've just received the worst news anyone can get, you're in shock, and suddenly there are people shoving cameras and microphones in your face expecting you to sum up the feelings of a generation. Go! Of course he flubbed it. Who wouldn't? |
