http://www.mail.com/Article.aspx?articlepa...ubcat=&pageid=1 Two sisters from Virginia sold their Illinois-shaped corn flake on eBay Friday night for $1,350. This is the kind of thing that makes me despair for civilisation. <_< |

I like fun, quirky, often pointless things but that's just too much. |

That is ridiculas, unless you are owner of the flake, there are people silly enough to pay that kind of money for a flake. I saw an interview where the one sister said she wants to go to Disney World/land. I am happy for her. Tell Mickey Mouse I said "Hello".

I'm happy for them, too. Envious, in fact. People constantly demonstrate how easy it is to make money off wacky ideas these days. Where's my thousand bucks hiding, I wonder. |

Yes, well if there's one born every minute, why not be the one taking advantage of it? Perhaps I'm over analysing it, but to me there's something very fall-of-Rome about this kind of thing. |

Just think how its value will skyrocket when the senator from Illinois becomes president. What a great investment.

Well, if it was the same corn flake in "I Am The Walrus" I could see..but since that's not the case, this is kind of silly. |

I once tried to sit on a corn flake, but it turned to powder.

I think we shouldn't care about what people do with their money. It's their money not yours. If they want to spend on silly things,it's their life and problem. What makes me despair for civilisation is when people care about what others do. Was that a crime? It's an absurd, but it doesn't affect us at all. And after all, people come full of reason talking about democracy and the live and let live. |

Message boards that don't express outrage over things that have nothing to do with them are doomed to extinction. I agree that it's silly. It's not like it looked like Paul and Heather. How much would people pay for that? |
| If you read my posts backward there's evidence that Paul is dead. | |

I'm aware of the irony that this thread is as pointless as trivial as the topic it's discussing.
Of course it's none of my business what people do with their hard-earned and if these kids can make a buck by convincing someone to pay that much for one corn flake, then good luck to them. It does seem a somewhat sad reflection on what people value though.

I don't know about you guys but I'm putting together 50 cornflakes in the shape of the USA.
Which reminds me of the blonde joke when she called her friends over to help her with a jigsaw puzzle. She said it was a puzzle of a rooster. Her friends found a box of Kellogg's Corn Flakes.
