I wasn't going to post much here much less start a thread BUT I can't resist considering the story. Hey Bill, you gotta love this one.
Al Franken, you know he moved back to Minnesota, because he wanted to run for the U.S. Senate. He is a guy who hates big companies and hates these evil conservatives who just want to screw the little guy. "We need giant government to be able to take care of all of the poor little workers that are being screwed," right? He goes back to run for the U.S. Senate in Minnesota. He leaves New York, by only a coincidence at the same time as the New York state workers' compensation board, fined his personal corporation $25,000 for failing to pay workmen's comp premiums from June 2002 to March 2005. He apparently wasn't paying his workmen's comp premiums during that time period for the little people and so they fined him, which is weird because it happened at the same time, you know, right before he left New York. Now, he said at first he was going to investigate the judgment, "I'm going to investigate what happened. Pretty clear once I didn't pay workmen's comp premiums." Now because he's running for Senate he immediately changed that to say, "Well, I didn't even know about it. I didn't even know about it until it was reported in a paper and then I found out about it and I'm going to"... let me ask you this: What would this guy be saying if Bill O’Reilly or Sean Hannity didn't pay their workmen's comp premiums for five years? What would he be saying about Bill O’Reilly or Sean Hannity? Would he talk about how unbelievably heartless, bloodthirsty, how horrible of a human being he is? Look how Bill O’Reilly or Sean Hannity doesn’t care about the little people? Do you think he would have done a whole show, maybe a whole week? Do you think Bill O’Reilly would have been a poster boy of a bad employer? Would Bill O’Reilly have been the poster boy for somebody that just will screw anybody just for a buck because that's the way all conservatives are? Would he condemn them for ducking the fine leaving the state and ducking the fine for three years? Would he do that? By the way, he has a hard time saying any of these things, yet he still says them because he was working for Air America which took a loan, $500,000 loan that had been siphoned from money that was meant for a Bronx charity serving kids and senior citizens. So he worked for the evil corporation already that took money literally out of the mouths of senior citizens and kids and gave it to their employees. It was called Air America but, you know, hey, you watch Daddy do enough things wrong and pretty soon I guess you start doing them, too, huh? |

Dan, I'm not trying to be mean here, but can you PLEASE post something other than politics? Do you have other intrests in your life? Thanks. I'm sorry, I just get really really tired of crap like this, fear mongering and such from the right. I have to deal with it at my place of work, I don't like it when I see it in a place I enjoy coming to. |

Dan's source: Glenn Beck ...which, really, he should have posted himself, if only for legal reasons. There are lots of right wing sites posting similar gleeful (most of them a lot nastier than Glenn Beck's) articles and yet I can't find a single proper news report about this or anything from Franken commenting or dealing with this issue... which is a little odd. |

Don't worry I am going to be staying away from politics, however the reason for the thread was to show the true hypocrite Al Franken is, not politics. The reader can choose to believe whatever, I am not going to get into any more lengthy debates to convince people to believe or not believe anything. |

I noticed that people here don't trust 2 things 1)The media 2)Politicians Al Fraken is both. He ran for office, and he works for Air America. I guess we can't trust him. |

Hey Barnabas, nice to have you sucking the blood out of this place. *just kidding* It's good to see you back, btw. I'm a liberal minded person who dispises Al Franken. I love some of his comedy writing from SNL, but he should just keep his trap shut when it comes to politics. He just makes me sick. |

In what way, Molly? Which of his political views make you sick? By the way, I'm not a Franken supporter or critic... in fact, I know very little about him other than that he's a satirist and have recently learned that he's running for office. Other than that, I'm largely indifferent to him. It's always interesting when you learn that a particular political 'side' hates someone and makes you wonder exactly what they're doing either right or wrong to stir up such high feelings. |

I guess you didn't hear about this but for all intents and purposes, Air America is defunct and has been for nearly a year. If you are going to quote corporations, get your facts straight. And since Air America made no money, which is the reason for its' demise, how can it be a corporation? I have worked for corporations and despise them! They care nothing for the workers and more for the profit margins which is why, being an ex-Countrywide employee, I watch with glee what the next step for CEO's like Angelo Mozilo will be. I would have loved to watch him squirm in front of Congress! As for not trusting the media, I have to say certain (**cough cough** FOX) media sources (**hack hack** Bill O'Reilly) aren't trusted and not the media as a whole. Sure there are some 'news' papers that parade themselves as being legit but are really nothing more than rags and the same goes for the spoken word but on the whole they do give us what we ask for. If that is sh*t, than that is what the public wants. |

There are always degrees. Nothing is black and white, despite some people wanting it to be. Al Franken is a political commentator who has chosen to put his policies to the people so they can either accept or reject them. That's more than you can say about O'Reilly, Hannity, Coulter, Limbaugh, Beck, et al. For that alone, I respect him. |

But wait a minute! NPR are a bunch of liberal lefties and we all know that liberal lefties never attack their own. This can only mean one of two things: NPR are a right wing organisation or Al Franken is a right wing organisation or perhaps what it really means is that the aforementioned organisations are neither left nor right and simply report THE NEWS. The difference between the news media and the right wing media on this one is simply that some are reporting the facts of the matter rather than crowing about it like they haven't had any good news in the last 12 months. |

For some reason - at the time - I was having great difficultly finding anything other than the piece by the New York Post and lots of 'opinion' pieces by the right. Perhaps, at that point, they hadn't been 'tagged' correctly or my search engine was simply playing up - either way, thanks.
