Hey Peter, are you staying in Liverpool in June or just outside?

When you taking me to the Walker?  :P

We are posh these days, we will be staying in Sefton thank you very much just outside of the city limits and no it is not in Bootle thank you very much.

dunno how about the friday. cant have you uncultured yank going home without some.

Ooh posh. How far away are you from Jayne then? Friday does seem the time to do the Walker...perhaps after John and Paul's houses...

Neil, not staying then?

BTW, I've been looking around and here are a couple of interesting touristy sites...

I wanted reserved seats so I didn't have to stand. I know at both Liverpool concerts I have attended, the reserved seats were off to the side. I'm very happy with that. I'm too old to queue and stand all day and then through acts that I probably won't like.

I've been to the Casbah a couple of times.

That's kinda how I feel about it, too. Maybe I'm just too old to stay for hours... ^_^

I just booked tickets for the tour of Mendips and Forthlin Road. I didn't have a lot of choice as to what day I went...and the other time was already full.
May 31st- 10am. Anyone else doing this tour?

I know I'm too old to stand for hours and to camp out overnight. I also no longer feel the need to be down front. Everybody can't be down front. Some people in the pitch will be in the back and you can't see anything from there.

Lisa and I are going to Forthlin Road and Mendips at 10.50 on May 30.

I figured those tours would fill up quickly.

Yes...especially since the tour bus only holds 14 people.

Exactly. And 20 Forthlin Road isn't all that large either. I am glad I went there when they still let you lay on Paul's bed. I spent my tour in Paul's bed. :innocent: :hyper:

I understand they no longer do that, so this time, I will see the house.

Be sure to use the loo out back of the house. It was there when Paul lived there and it is a flush toilet.

I did actually see Mendips.

The guy who lives in 20 Forthlin Road and shows you around the house was really nice. I think he stayed more with my friend and I as I had my Live 8 shirt on and I was full of questions and sharing info etc. There's a deck chair in the garden, I think it looks like one that Paul sat in in that garden. We were told that we weren't allowed to sit in it because an American sat it in it and it broke. So for health and Safety you cant sit in it now. He showed me me a book which Pauls brother had written with all his photos and he had signed it especially. The tour guide also said that he was waiting for Paul to ring so he could show Heather around. He was such a fan which was great. The guy who stayed in John's house was a bit older and not as big a fan and to me sounded just like an ordinary National Trust worker.

When I took the tour in '04, my friend Bette and I sat on Paul's bed. We weren't supposed to but we did it anyway. Loved taking that tour. You could really see the difference in their social distinctions. I highly recommend taking the Magical Mystery Tour of Liverpool and see where George and Ringo lived. Than you really see the social class distinctions and how those two rose out of it.

I've been to loads of rugby union matches but I dont think I've ever been to a league match which is kind of weird considering I quite like watching it on the tele.

I know I do. Can't wait to get back to working full time as that is my Liverpool money.

Can't make a plane reservation just yet or figure out exact dates for anything except Liverpool as I want to pay for the other hotels as I reserve them.

Dani if you intend to go see Paul and John's houses go with Jayne and I :) Or at any rate make a reservation quick before all the tickets are gone because they only take 56 people through the place each day and the May 31 morning tours are all booked up.

Irene do come with us...for anyone interested the website is:

http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/w-the_beatles.htm

I wonder if we get to ride in the funny bus with the GIANT pictures of John and Paul's faces on it? That would be a hoot.

Tour price is 15 pounds for adults...oh well. Sorry Dani you have to wait to reserve but that is certainly understandable waiting for payday.

travel to the city centre is very easy - you can get a train from the local Lea Green Train Station for under £4 ($8) and that ticket will let you go on ANY train/bus/ferry all day for that price. Alternatively wait for me and I'll take you all there ;) don't worry though my minibus isnt like the one on the tour ;) lol :P

I am picking up that bus in the city centre. I need to know how to get there from St. Helens if we keep that hotel. If it's going to cost too much, we're better off at the other hotel--even if we have to share a bed and it's probably a smoking room.

I can afford that to get to the city centre.

Is that a nice hotel? Is it just cheaper because it is in St. Helens and not Liverpool?

How do I get to the hotel when I get to the train station? How much would a taxi run?

all rooms now in england now are non-smoking as from 1st July this year no smoking is allowed in any public building

it costs approx £4 for a saveaway ticket and that will get you on any public transport around the 'merseyside' area - or like I said I will take you into city centre myself ;)

I can afford that to get to the city centre.

Is that a nice hotel? Is it just cheaper because it is in St. Helens and not Liverpool?

How do I get to the hotel when I get to the train station? How much would a taxi run?

train station to hotel is approx £2 ($4) its next to a very nice pub and away from my town centre (so no nightlife) - from there in my car takes 10 minutes to liverpool ;) Tony is staying there too

What about from Lime Street--or do we get off somewhere else to go to St. Helen's?

Jayne, since you are playing tour guide, I would really like to see the inside of where somebody who lives in England. I've only seen Eastenders and all those castles. Can we come to your house at some point?

If Tony is there, it will be a good time. Will cancel the other hotel and we'll party in St. Helens. :hyper:

Jayne, I had never heard of or seen the Yellow Duckmarine until I saw it ploughing at a high speed towards the Mersey. I thought the driver had gone mental

I love it when it tries to come 'out' of the mersey ;) lol :P

Oh man this is shaping up to be quite an event!!!!

Linda, the hotel looks to be pretty decent. If several of us are staying there and we share a cab it could be cheaper than the train! There is also a Hilton in ST Helens for 77pounds per night. I'm keeping my eye on that one if the exchange rate gets better.....LOL ROFLMAO...LOL

The cabs won't work out cheaper; they charge an extortionate amount of money even for just a short journey.

for a taxi of minimum-4 max-5 people it would cost approx £2 (for the total ride not each) from the hotel to nearest train station (Lea Green) then approx £4 each for a saveaway ticket which gives you public transport all over merseyside.

will say taxi direct to Liverpool from the hotel would be approx £15 (not each) one way - normally around £25 return trip (like said though not each)
