I saw the Osmonds when I was 12 years old in Madison Square Garden. It was enough to see them once...lol! I'd much rather see U2!!! Elton John? (thinking of Brits, now)....

I'd be quite happy if it was just Paul & The Kaisers as well... unless they lengthened the concert, of course. Quite happy to have more music for our money! ;)

Just a word of warning about SIM cards. Yes, they are the little chip-type things you put in your phone, however, If your phone is tied to a package with your mobile provider and the phone itself was part of your plan, it may be locked against being used with any other SIM cards. Check ahead, otherwise you may be left with a non-refundable SIM card and a phone you can't use it with.

However, if that is the case, then there are some very cheap pay as you go phones in the UK. You can buy handsets from supermarkets such as Tesco or Asda/stores like Argos for less than ten pounds and many pay as you go SIM cards are free or just a matter of a few pounds. They won't exactly be great phones, but you'd be able to make calls on them and that's what matters.

My pay as you go provider gave me the unlock code last night and told me what to do after I buy a SIM card. Rick said that is what he does all over the world and he also told me what to do so the SIM card will work in my phone.

He did say that SIM cards often don't work in cell phones on monthly plans and that is why he sticks with his pay as you go phone.

Glad to hear you're already on the case with that potential problem, Linda!

He made me take the phone apart last night and showed me how to remove the SIM card and put it back in. Told me about how long it takes for the phone to work after you put the SIM card in so you don't freak out and think you broke your phone.

When Rick was in Manila, he had bought a new phone. He totally spaced that and didn't have the unlock code. It took him almost a week to get it via email because they wanted the receipt scanned of the purchase and it was in the USA, at his house.

That is why I called last night and got the unlock code.

Heidi- Lisa, Jayne and the witches will be on that tour. There will be one empty seat which is mine because I booked my ticket before I realized that BA doesn't fly out of Phoenix on Wednesday (plus it's my hubbys b-day) so I won't arrive in L'pool till later that evening. Dang,

A question about the meet up:

Are there going to be children? I have a friend that wants to come but he can't get a babysitter that night so his daughter would have to come along.

Thats what they take these days. Be even quicker from December. But weekends are real bad to travel, with a bus part of way for rest of the year!

I guess Jayne would be the best one to answer that...but if they're under 18 (I think that's the drinking age in England) then I would imagine they would not be allowed in a pub. But ask Jayne.... ;)

Children can go into most pubs with an adult providing they don't drink alcohol. I'm sure Jayne mentioned earlier that kids won't be allowed in this pub.

International superstar guest....Ringo?

Thats who I instantly thought, but is he big enough :P

Thats what I first thought too, but he isn't as big on his own. Then I thought Brian Wilson as they are very good friends and had this healthy competiveness between them in the 60s. Then I thought lead singer of The Foo Fighters (they covered Band On The Run on Radio1s 40 album and will also be in Manchester the next day), George Michael too could be a possibility they did sing together at Live 8. Ooooh it could be interesting.

OK question time again, in an effort to pack as lightly as I can (you will all see the same outfit at least once) and being from the hottest place in the US where we forget that the rest of the world has variable weather, my question is will we need a jacket in the evening? Oh I feel old just asking that question

Jayne told me that I would need a jacket in the evenings. Best to bring rain gear, too.

A light jacket, because it's warm in the evenings. Rain gear will be useful, but bare in mind if you have to wear it you might get clammy. If you have a seat in the stands then you wont need rain gear because the stands are covered.

If you’re standing on the pitch and it rains then you might regret wearing rain gear because standing shoulder to shoulder you will get too hot.

Ok everyone - had confirmation today from the landlord of the pub and a private room as been booked in Liverpool City Centre

The venue: Crown Hotel, 43 Lime Street Link
The time: from 7pm

it is actually a room upstairs in the venue. We could have our own private bar but it would cost a bit extra :hmm: so people have to go downstairs for drinks - hope people don't mind that.

I actually chose this venue because it is right next door to the railway station (for those who are travelling into the city) so not far to walk (or crawl lol :D ;)) Only drawback is that I can't have the witches with me :( :( (I'm secretly cheering lol :P) but if we can arrange 'something' you can all meet them the next day at the concert (if you REALLY want too lol :P)

It is a grade II listed building and very nice inside - when I get more links about the place I'll post them :)

I do need defo numbers for the landlord a week prior to the meet up so if people can please PM me to say they are defo coming so I can keep a list and tell him final numbers

:yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Again, I am so jealous!! I've been at this pub once. It is a beautiful place.
Hey! Have fun and cheers for me!! B)

Irene brings up a good point about the weather. I get cold easily and looking online at the average temps for the Liverpool area in June, I see that it is quite chilly usually (at least compared to Maryland standards) for summer.

Is it accurate to say the temperatures will be about 62 F in the day and 50 F at night? At this time of year here we are used to about 80 F daytime, 70 F night... If these temps are accurate I'll be bringing some warm clothes.

Lisa, we've already been in the 90's several times in the last few weeks. Tomorrow is expected to be 95. I think I'll find the weather in the UK very refreshing but a jacket sounds like a must. If I need rain gear I'll buy something there and then leave it at a charity shop or something. It's going to be here before we know it!!!!!

Irene brings up a good point about the weather. I get cold easily and looking online at the average temps for the Liverpool area in June, I see that it is quite chilly usually (at least compared to Maryland standards) for summer.

Yes Lisa, those temperatures are about right. When it gets really hot in this country ie 90f+ it's usually in August. The long-range forecast for the summer is a typical british one, not over hot and plenty of showers! Hopefully it will be dry and hot over that weekend. Jayne will have to talk to the weather gods :P

I know that Anfield is not by the Mersey, but I clearly remember being a bit chilly in 1990 as the breeze came off the River Mersey. The person beside me was also chilly and she had a sweater with her.

I will definitely be bringing a sweatshirt or jacket.

I wanted to, but couldn't think of anything clever to write, so I'm thinking I'll just bring the flag of my country, to show him that we do exist, and we do like him. :P

Thats a good idea! I wouldn't have though of that. I'm having a difficult time trying to think of what to write on it with no luck. I think I'll just screen print something on a fabric banner.

I've got one day tour to Hadrian's Wall and will be choosing another day tour when I get there. I want to see what all there is to offer.

I will be going to Stonehenge while in London before I go to Edinburgh.

Bev, you and I will have to have our own meet-up that day. We need to commiserate and still have some fun. Hopefully you can come to the California meet-up we are going to have when Andy and Fiona reach the Pacific Ocean side of life.

Linda, I have the option of printing the ticket in advance. I also feel certain that the ticket office would honor a request to allow transfer of the ticket at the box office, if proper advance notification were to be provided.

Jillian, do you need a ticket???

Bev I soooo wish you were coming to Liverpool what a bright spot that would be for me! I'll miss you but hopefully one day we will see each other. I can't take your ticket as I've already got mine for the same time but actually I wonder if there is anyone else Jayne knows who would want the ticket? Also have you checked with the National Trust if a refund is a possibility?
