It would be great for the rest of us to be able to hear you all together on SF Radio. ^_^

Sorry about the noise the plane will be making. You will have to tell me how to get to my hotel again without using the airport shuttle.

35 bus, although if you are not to freaked out about meeting me that night (which you will actually kind of have to do so you can go to this tribute band) I could meet you at the airport, I'll be heading in that direction anyway and then I could show you where you are going etc.

As for the noise of the plane. I'm already very used to it. I've had hours of fun watching them take off and land. Although was a nightmare when the concorde was still flying

Dani, I am definitely not freaked out about meeting you. As you pointed out, we will have to meet that night. I will get you the details on the plane and you can help me get to my hotel. I think you said it isn't far from where the Beatles tribute gig is.

nope its not, its about a 5-7 minute walk so nothing to strenuous. So that will provide you with my 5 min tour of Edinburgh

Thats not a problem.Like I've said the airport is over the road for me anyway and as I will be going into Edinburgh as well may as well show you where you are going too :)

Hey Bill what would work the best to get a sound recording?

The best would be an Edirol digital recorder but at $500, that might be asking a bit much.

Nah, literally whatever you've got that will record a sound will do. I can can convert and balance it all.
Oh, and I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable or anything - it would just be great to hear all of you. Or at least those who want to be heard. ^_^

Sir Paul McCartney to attend Ecce Cor Meum concert
Sir Paul McCartney is set to attend the first performance in Liverpool of his latest classical work, Ecce Cor Meum (Behold My Heart) in the spectacular setting of Liverpool Cathedral on May 1.

Ecce Cor Meum is Sir Paul's fourth classical album since his first, The Liverpool Oratorio. The album was more than eight years in the making and its origins follow in the historic tradition of composers that have been commissioned to write music for the world-renowned Magdalen College Oxford.

Sir Paul was specially invited by Anthony Smith (President of Magdalen College, Oxford 1998 - 2005) to compose something to set the seal on a new concert hall for the college.

On November 3rd 2006, Ecce Cor Meum was given its world premiere to a sell-out audience at the Royal Albert Hall. sir Paul received a standing ovation from the audience at the end of the performance and in May of 2007 he was presented with the prestigious Best Album Award at the Classical Brits.

Ecce Cor Meum is scored for choir and orchestra and the text combines both English and Latin.

Ecce Cor Meum will be performed by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir, one of the UK's finest young sopranos, Kate Royal and the Choristers of Liverpool Cathedral under the baton of conductor, Gavin Greenaway.  Both Kate and Gavin worked on the studio recording, which was released by EMI Classics in 2006.

The concert is almost sold out, with a limited number of tickets left.

Looking forward to the performance at the Cathedral, The Rt Rev James Jones, Bishop of Liverpool, said:"When Sir Paul McCartney's 'Ecce Cor Meum' meets Giles Gilbert Scott's Anglican Cathedral it will prove to be a spiritual as well as a musical experience that touches the heart.

''I am honoured that Sir Paul has accepted my invitation to stage the northern premier in the Cathedral City of his birth."

Ok everyone - had confirmation today from the landlord of the pub and a private room as been booked in Liverpool City Centre

The venue: Crown Hotel, 43 Lime Street Link
The time: from 7pm

it is actually a room upstairs in the venue. We could have our own private bar but it would cost a bit extra :hmm: so people have to go downstairs for drinks - hope people don't mind that.

I actually chose this venue because it is right next door to the railway station (for those who are travelling into the city) so not far to walk (or crawl lol :D ;)) Only drawback is that I can't have the witches with me :( :( (I'm secretly cheering lol :P) but if we can arrange 'something' you can all meet them the next day at the concert (if you REALLY want too lol :P)

It is a grade II listed building and very nice inside - when I get more links about the place I'll post them :)

I do need defo numbers for the landlord a week prior to the meet up so if people can please PM me to say they are defo coming so I can keep a list and tell him final numbers

:yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

oh damn I'm busy that day

Jayne, you are. We are going to have a fabulous time in Liverpool. I've been there several times before. I've had some great times there, but I already know that this will be the best trip ever. Posted Image

I saw Paul there in 1990 and that is when I met Lisa (retrollama), with whom I remain friends today. We are going to room together this year in Liddypool. I saw Paul there in 2003 and roomed with someone in Canada with whom I am friends with today. I know I am going to be able to say that after this trip, too.

I've been there on my own a few times. I was there in 1993 after seeing Paul at Earls Court in London. Made a lifelong friend on that trip, too, He was the person I went over with for the Concert for George and see at Fests most years.

The Beatles world in the US can be a small world. I see people at the Fests and concerts that I have met over the years. Since the advent of the web, it's easier to keep in touch--even if we don't see each other often in person.

My Christmas card list is becoming more Beatles friends than family and I like it that way.

You are providing us all with something to look forward to! Posted Image

Jayne, please don't buy a dryer just for me. I can wash my clothes and air dry them.

As long as the pub sells soft drinks, they are all the same to me since I rarely drink. I certainly don't drink beer or ale.

I know the Phil's only up the road from me but I've never been in it, nor any of the other pubs for that matter.

Because I'm not a pub crawler :)

:P

but it's at night Dani lol :P :P

I had a dream last night that I was there!!! I was riding in the backseat of Jaynes car as she barreled down a wide street. In the car was Andy and 2 of the Beatles. I'm not sure which ones becasue they kept changin their appearance but they looked like the moptop era. Anyway Jayne is zipping in and out of traffic and Lisa appeared and I tried to show her some pictures on my camera but then I was worried about the battery so Jayne pulled up at the Royal Garden Gate hotel. One of the Beatles got out of the car in disguise, he dressed to look like John  . ANyway he quickly got back in the car and we were off and my alarm went off. Dang it was a good dream. Getting so excited!!

Sending my RSVP for the meet-up!

Oh by the way, a little something to tell all you Yanks coming over to Liverpool. This is about money, which of course, is always a concern.

If you're like me and haven't been overseas for a while, or just haven't ever been, apparently the best exchange rate for your money is gotten by using ATMs. Apparently travelers checks are not used so much any more, they are more like emergency money. However, and it's the BIG however on using ATMs, is to be wary of what your bank charges for their use. Apparently a lot of banks will charge a foreign use charge on top of your withdrawal which is obviously no good.

Of course you could exchange cash at an exchange place but we all know that they will gouge you for the privilege. You can use your credit card, but you have to make sure the bank that issues the credit card doesn't have some kind of foreign use service charge too (which I will definitely find out before I go with my card).

So what to do? I looked it up online and found that banks like Bank of America use the Global ATM Alliance, and do not charge for withdrawals from the participating partner, which in their case is Barclays. I also looked it up -- there is at least one Barclays ATM in Liverpool and two in St. Helens. So tomorrow I'm off to my local BOA tomorrow to talk to them in person to confirm this, and if so, I'll be setting up an account with BOA just for Liverpool money.

Here is the website I used to find out this info: http://europeforvisitors.com/europe/articl...ersion_fees.htm

Looks like it has other good info on it as well....

Hey everyone! :D

Just got back from visiting my family on the east coast and I've had many pages of reading to catch up!

I simply can't believe it's less than a month away for this trip!! :hyper: Yippeeee!!

Say all you Americans....have you received any further info on where and when to pick up the concert tickets? I have this fear that I'll get to the will call window and they'll say something like, "sorry, we don't have anything in your name!" :duh: I'd die.

We don't have Bank of America here. I am going to get a pre-loaded debit card from AAA that is not tied to my bank account. Yes it will charge me the 3% service fee for foreign transactions and $3 for ATM withdrawals. For Ecce, I got the limit at the ATM each time so I could limit the fees. I ended up with too much cash and took a loss at the airport when I exchanged the money. I will be more careful this time. I'd rather pay the 3% fee than exchange the money back to US dollars at the airport.

You're right, Dani. The post office do a decent rate of exchange when you're buying dollars, commission free! :)
