From Liverpool Echo tonight

Quote:

TICKETS to the Sir Paul McCartney-headlined Liverpool Sound concert at Anfield are selling for hundreds of pounds online.

The June 1 stadium gig sold out instantly last autumn with tickets, costing up to £125 each, going on sale through a ballot.

More than 32,000 fans will pack the football ground to see Macca along with other major names from the pop world who have been inspired by Liverpool music.

Rumoured acts include U2, Oasis and the Kaiser Chiefs, although culture chiefs have not yet revealed any other names. But now city leaders are being condemned for allowing people to cash-in on the once-in-a-lifetime event.

Tickets are being offered for sale on eBay at up to £700 a pair, while desperate fans already offering £600 a pair on the site.

Fed-up fans fear tickets will end-up changing hands for more than £1,000 each to corporate buyers while grass roots local enthusiasts are excluded.

Lyn Bateson, 57, said: “It's a disgrace the vultures are cashing-in on the tickets in this way.”

Gene Grimes, of the Liverpool Beatles Appreciation Society, said: “There could have been a photo ID system whereby only those who bought the tickets could use them.”

A Culture Company spokesman said tickets each had their own computerised “finger print” as part of their security.

He said: “We've put checks in place to stop fraudulent tickets circulating but if someone decides to sell their tickets there's nothing we can do.”

I'm glad you found your way to this thread! I can't believe how many of us from this place will actually be in Liverpool.

Have you thought about booking a tour to John and Paul's homes? I know many of us are doing that. Try this link:

http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/w-the_beatles.htm

Thanks Lisa! :yahoo:

I was kinda afraid to come on here 'cos there were alreadyso many people chatting and thought I might be a thorn. :hmm:

But, boy am I glad I came! Thanks for the link!

Is there a specified day when everyone else is going on the tours and whatnot? I would like to join you all!

being totally honest Heidi I have NEVER seen that bus in Liddypool

just looked at were the bus stops and they go nowhere near any of the beatles places

so to me not worth the money at all - might as well get a saveaway and a beatles map of public transport ;) it would save you LOADS more money

I'd check availabilty of the PM suite - bet it is gone already :( I just think its very expensive for the location :hmm:

being totally honest Heidi I have NEVER seen that bus in Liddypool

just looked at were the bus stops and they go nowhere near any of the beatles places

so to me not worth the money at all - might as well get a saveaway and a beatles map of public transport ;) it would save you LOADS more money

I'd check availabilty of the PM suite - bet it is gone already :( I just think its very expensive for the location :hmm:

I have seen that bus lots of times, it does exist.

Looking at the Website, they’re not actually advertising it as a Beatles tour; they are just advertising it as a Liverpool tour. They say Liverpool, home of The Beatles, that’s just the same as me saying I live in Liverpool, home of The Beatles.

I don’t know whether it’s worth it, but the ticket is valid for 24 hours and you do get a running commentary, I know it says it’s recorded but I’ve often seen someone at the front of the bus with a mike.

you will need to print this off - but it gives you the bus routes around Liddypool to go to the sites ;) unless you have me/Colin or George as a guide lol :P

I WISH I could have you two as guides...but I realize you're busy! It will be great just to be able to hang out with everyone at a pub!

Thanks for that great map of Beatles attractions. Like Colin said, the big tour bus takes you all around areas of Liverpool, not just the Beatles places.

Here's the route:
1. Canada Boulevard (Mersey Ferries)
2. Chapel St (Western Approaches)
3. Dale St (hop off stop only)
4. James Street Station
5. Victoria Street (The Cavern)
6. William Brown Street (Museums and Galleries)
7. Mount Pleasant (Metropolitan Cathedral)
8. Hope Street (Everyman Theater and Philharmonic Dining Rooms)
9. Upper Duke Street (Anglican Cathedral)
10. Great George Street (Chinatown)
11. Gower Street (Albert Dock)

I don't know if any of these places are on that Beatles map...

The Liverpool City Hop on Hop Off Bus tour is about $22 per person for a 24 hour pass. This is a tour of the city.

The "Saveaway" tickets are about $5 for one day; that's the one that stops at the Beatles attractions, according to the map that Jayne provided.

Thanks. ^_^

Are you going to do either of these tours, or haven't made up your mind yet?

I have no idea what to do, I'm kinda just going to tag along with what everyone else does...I already booked the tixs for the tour of the childhood homes with Jayne.

I haven't made up my mind yet. I for sure am doing the MMT (yellow van to the 2 homes); right now it's scheduled for May 30th but I'm trying to change it....

I haven't got the tixs for MMT, I'm going to wait and see when everyone else is going, and try and get on their tour. But I definitely want to do that.

And of course the Beatles Story, that's a no brainer...

Just to clarify, the 'Saveaway' tickets are for use of Liverpool Public Transport - you'd have to find your own way to the attractions. ;)

The MMT is a big yellow bus that takes you to and past many Beatle attractions but you do not get to go inside any of them on this tour. The tour that allows you into the childhood homes is the National Trust Tour.

I've booked the National Trust Tour to Forthlin Road and Mendips, as well as the MMT.

I've been to the Beatles Story several times and unless there is something new, I won't be going there.

I posted a link to say were all the public buses go in the city (Beatles related) If you ask the driver nicely when you get on they will tell you the exact stop to get off on ;) all of them are VERY near bus stops

The tour guides in Liverpool are so knowledgeable that I prefer the tours. Besides, you can't get in the houses without taking a tour.
