How soon do you get all the gizgets and gadmos?

Do you already have a Blu-ray DVD recorder and an iPhone?
Did you only get a camera-phone when your old one stopped working?
Do you still play your music on a radiogram?

I'd say I'm in the "somewhat" category. I'm not going to pay up big for something that I know will cost about 80% less in a year or so. I bought my first digital camera in Feb 2003. It cost $200 for 1.3 megapixels and I thought it was a bargain - which, at the time, it was. Now, for that money, you're getting ripped off if you get anything less that 4 megapixels, video with sound and a 512meg memory card.

My phone is a fashion statement. It's a 4yo Nokia 3315 and I am determined to use it until it dies. I'm tempted all the time but newer, sexier phones but I can't abide throwing away a perfectly good phone which is still a pretty amazing piece of technology.

So where do you stand? Are video iPods WAAAAYYY too 2005 for you? Are you just thinking about getting a DVD player? Does your Agfa instamatic still do everything you want from a camera?

I certainly wait til things are affordable and other than mobile phones, I don't replace things unless they're no longer working.

Yes and No.

But mainly No.

So, to sum up - No.

Whilst poverty is a factor in my not having a great mobile phone or an ipod or any other many silly things, the biggest thing is that i am naturally green. I recycle everything i can, broken bits of wood nope keep them saves me buying bamboo. I hae never bought a brand new car and never will, the depreciation in the first and second year is disgusting.

I do have a dvd recorder / vhs recorder bought in april at a very good price and it hasnt seemed to have dropped any further. Yes, it was extravegant for me but i had some crimbo money to add to it, but in truth it was a necessaity i have so many beatles tapes that needed to be saved. But as too blu-ray you got to be kidding. The price defferential for the discs never mind the players is far too steep and cannot be justified on the minimal quality increase.

I said I wait til the price goes down. But that's mostly cuz I can't afford it til then. If I could, I'd be one of the crazy ones that gets everything RIGHT AWAY.

I voted 'somewhat'.

I'm not going to go out and get anything just for the sake of it being cool. I would never queue at midnight outside some shop to be the first to get the latest gadget.
That's just crazy.

However, I love new technology and always find it interesting to find out about the latest gadgets. Ipods, Zen, palm tops, mobile phones - I've gone through several of all of these over the last few years.

I can honestly say that I pretty much only get new technology when the old one breaks. I don't have to have it now.

Oooh, I miss my old rotary dial phone! It had a certain feel to it, calling a number on one of those. And the annoyed noise you inevitably made whenever you accidentally mis-dialed and had to start again. ^_^

I usually have the newest only because my husband and son can't wait. I did receive an iphone for my birthday but it's very seldom on. My husband, son and daughter joke how easily it slips into their pockets. I do love having TIVO.

I don't own an iPod, and have only recently become interested in actually getting one. I have a crappy mobile phone, and my car doesn't have a CD player in it.

I think that pretty much sums it up.

Oh, and I don't own a digital camera. In fact I don't own a camera.
I don't believe in Bondi. I don't believe in rugby league. I believe in Yoko, John Lennon, the Lost Weekend and me.

I voted "Somewhat"

I have an iPod, but I waited for the third generation version. I've had it for over three years now, though. It was the last model before the video ones came out. I'd like to get a new one, simply because I've filled this one to the brim and can't fit anything new on it.

My pay-as-you-go cellphone is about four years old, and it suits me just fine.

I have a crappy digital camera that came free with the last printer I bought. I prefer to shoot 35mm film with my SLR anyway. When I get the film developed, I also get my images put on CDs for convenience.

I don't have Tivo, or any digital recording devices. Would like to get one though, so I could upgrade my old videotapes like Peter did.

My old flat screen TV is on its last legs. We are trying to get it to hold on til after Christmas, when all the sales hit. Then we won't feel guilty buying one of those sweet new flat panel TVs.

Hmmm. On second thought, maybe I should have voted in the "Not Really" category!
What a long, strange trip it's been....
