Let's talk about the good things that've happened instead of venting about the bad things that've happened. You'll cool off so you could vent about more bad things later. :D

Ok, here the best thing that has happened to me recently! In three days my son will graduate high school. He has a learning disability called "NLD" inspite of that, he has made honour roll every single year since first grade. It was a marathon of overly hard work many, many times. LOTS of late nights, no extra curricular time, but, he did it.

I am so proud I could bust buttons.

Thank you, it is a beautiful thing, and he's a good soul which is the most important thing. It's not the "grades" so much as the character it took to do whatever it took including working with tutors while the other kids were off to play but, he wanted this so badly. I get tears in my eyes thinking about all that hard work and now the reward is here!! YAY! :D :D :D

He'd never brag this way about at all though he's pretty shy and quiet but, I KNOW he's proud of himself. :yahoo:

I just was watching a story about a dachshund that got rescued after being trapped in a six foot hole. The dog was fine, except it was a bit dehydrated and scared. I love animal rescues when they have happy endings. :)

Looking forward to some vacation time from work starting next week (but only if I get back to work now and stop posting here). For once, am glad I have no major trips planned, but get to spend much of the summer at home, going down to the beach on sunny days, seeing friends, rehearsing a bit with the crazy band. Oh, perhaps a quick trip to London mid-month if the mood strikes me :)

I'm gushing right now, because I found out that on October 5th, Craig Ferguson is coming here (well in Amherst, NY) to perform his stand up. I'm so hoping to see him in concert and possibly meeting him in person. This is kind of how i felt when I saw Paul in concert. Tickets go on sale next Friday and I hope they don't sell out fast. I told both my Mom and sister about it hoping either one of them would get me a ticket for my birthday. So keep your fingers crossed.
Oh how do I love Craig Ferguson.

I just got a job as the pastry chef at a well known cafe in town. I feel sort of bad because she promised the job to someone else but then once I came along she decided to give it to me. It's a great opportunity and I'm really excited about it.

I would love to have one of those except I have no room for one nor do I know how to play one. Can a 56 year old still learn to play the piano? Learning to play was always on my list of things to do when I was very, very young.

Beautiful Lissa.Bet you can't wait to teach your daughter how to play one day.

Thank you for that, Judy. We're going to one of the best heart surgeons in the world so we're very optimistic. He's French, but works in New York. She's only having part of her heart replaced. Some of her new heart will come from a donor and some will be artificially made.

It won't be long and the little guy will be here! We're getting excited now! :D

awwww a newbie baby :baby:

how long to go now Diane - September she is due isnt she

Thanks Jayne and Dorothy. :) I've been having lots of fun shopping for the baby!

And in the end...The love you take..Is equal to the love you make.

Can a 56 year old still learn to play the piano?

Yes. Will you ever be the greatest pianist in the history of the world? Probably not. Will you enjoy learning how to turn dots and lines on a page into music and make an inanimate object sing? Absolutely.

My daughter is already taking violin lessons, so I will concentrate more on that than piano.

We're going to one of the best heart surgeons in the world so we're very optimistic.  He's French, but works in New York.

Dr Loulmet, I presume. If she is going to Lenox Hill, she is in very good hands.

It was my daughter's birthday party yesterday and we had a lovely day, bowling, going to the splash park and eating at a nearby Chinese restaurant!

Other than the bowling, this sounds like a great birthday.

This past weekend I went to A Taste of Buffalo and had a great time. I went both Saturday and yesterday. This is what I had, and remember the samples are pretty small.

Saturday:

Crab Cake & Brushetta Combo
Blackened Cajun Shrimp (small)
Lobster and Crab Dip

Sunday

Shrimp and Real Crabmeat Salad w/ Rosa Marina Pasta
Shrimp and Veggie Stir Fry
Arroz Con Pollo Guisado (Stewed Chicken with Rice)
Zabaglione

Also, I tried Turkey Hill ice cream's new product Duetto, which is vanilla ice cream and Itlaian ice. It was pretty good.
Also, I had Frito Lay's new Healthy snack product, Flat Earth. It's their fruit and veggie crisps. Saturday I had peach and mango flavored crisps and yesterday I had the Farmland Cheddar crisps. I'm definiately going to get this product again. It was really tastey and it's made from all natural ingredients.

Are you going to New York too when she goes for the operation?

I do not want to get into the habit of answering for other people, but yes. She is in the city right now. Her sister had at least the initial surgery and all appears well. More than that I cannot say.

Which reminds me, if anyone wants to join us for dinner, meet us at Empire Szechuan, on the corner of Columbus and 68th at about 9pm last night.

My sister is healthy and happy at home. Today's medical technology is amazing.

If anyone needs robotic heart surgery I recommend Lenox Hill Hospital in New York. Drs. Loulmet and Subramanian are my new heroes.

Makes us realize how little our problems compare to a very sick child. Glad the little guy is in remission.Hearing or seeing a child sick will get me over feeling sorry for myself real quick!! Bless all sick little children.

BTW, since you're a mom, I foresee bowling parties in your future.

BTW, since you're a mom, I foresee bowling parties in your future.

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will only p*ss me off to the point where I get some sticks and stones of my own. You can threaten me all you want with this hideous bowling talk, but I will not lie down. I will not go gently into that good night. I will fight on beaches, landing grounds, in fields, in streets and on the hills. I will never surrender.

Maybe it will be a swimming party instead of a bowling party? I think bowling parties would be fun--as long as I don't have to be in charge.

Thank you everyone.

No matter what our own troubles may be there is always someone somewhere who is in a worse state. I've seen too much pain and suffering in others to ever feel sorry for myself. I don't like to see anyone sick or in pain, but I agree that it is especially traumatic when it is a child suffering.

You could subscribe to the webcam. Only $49.95 per week. Buy four weeks, get a month.

Granted, it was more interesting before all the kids when it was hardcore porn, but what can you do.
