Apart from us who are either living in, nearby or grew up in the city Apart from the Beatles - what attracts you to the city ??? From those of you who have visited - which non-beatle sites have you been to or would like to visit if you came back again?? |

I was only there for 2 days (1 night) so it was all jam packed with Beatles stuff. My friend and I had dinner by the docks which was really nice. The regeneration of the city has proved successful. I want to go again, even if its not Beatle related. The people were so friendly. I stayed in the Holiday Inn next door to the Beatles museum. The guy who lives in Paul's house is really nice and showed his passion for The Beatles and Liverpool when showing us around. He even showed me Michael McCartney's autograph. Basically what I loved above Liverpool was the people. |

Well silly, not exactly the sights of the slums, but I meant when you go there for just a little fun or just got there to take happy photos for us.
I certainly don't mind however if Colin, Neil and LIPA decide to join in and show us around as I can't foresee myself going there any time this year...

Liverpool to me was the UK's answer to Brooklyn, NY. I felt very at home there, even hearing the scouse made me think of thick Brooklyn accents. Two sister cities filled with charm. |

I have been to Liverpool three times, and, I will not lie, what attracts me most to the city is the beatles thing it promotes. When I am there and most sights remind me of something beatlesque, I feel at home. It is a beautiful city nonetheless. Now that it will be the cultural capital of 2008 and it is being regenerated, it will be even more beautiful. It is very different to other UK cities I have visited, it has this sort of European air; it may be the architecture or the fact that it is by the riverside, I don't know. It has this laid back atmosphere, I love the area around the shopping centre with the huge screens, and the big roads all around the city. I love people saying "ta, luv" and I never get tired of their accent. It is a nice place to be. Visitors prefering to stay in hostels should check out the YHA Liverpool; it is a lovely place, right across the Albert dock where Beatles Story is located, completely Beatles decorated, with en suit bathrooms and full breakfast included in the price. When I stayed there, my floor was called Penny Lane and I was in heaven. Of course, A Hard Day's Night Hotel should be open by now, which is great competition, and I'm sure it is worth the money. |

I have been to Liverpool probably five times. Of course, it is the Beatles that take me there. I must admit, that I haven't seen much of Liverpool if it is not Beatles related. I love the Scouse accent. I have been on the Magical Mystery Tour several times and I've hired a private Beatles tour guide once. That was of course the best tour I got. My favorite Beatles spots are Paul's and John's childhood homes. I wasn't happy when it was time to leave. I do have a leaf from Rembrandt. I've been to the docks to check the ship registrys as my ancestors emigrated from Liverpool. Sure enough, there names are there. I love the people. I also love having to give my last name while in the pool as it is the same as Paul's cousins. I get asked if I am related to them and I've finally gotten to where I just say yes. |

Ever since I can remember, the only place that I've wanted to visit is England!!! Yes... The Beatles have something to do with it!!!
But I would love to see the history.... Castles, Palaces, The Chelsea Flower Show, Yorkshire(James Herriot lover)!!!!, Althorp...even Scotland!!! I love castles, and thatched roofs, and the dales, and ancient estates. Hopefully, I might be able to go next year!! One of my co-workers(and best friends) is from Scotland, and her sis lives in Yorkshire!!!

I should stop coming here when I'm drunk. Everything I wrote is true (even if a little grammatically challenged), but completely off topic. So, besides the Beatles, I think Liverpool has some amazing sights. The Anglican Cathedral is baronial, absolutely fantastic. The town hall is also a beautiful building with so much history. ![]() The Royal Liver Building, even though it is kind of associated with the Beatles, (you can see it in the video for In My Life), it is worth seeing anyway, with its clock towers and the mythical liver birds. The birds (pronounced like diver and not like liver as in liverpool) are like landmarks for Liverpool; legend has it that they protect the city (in fact, one protects the city and the other the mersey) and if they ever leave, the city will disappear. The building overlooks the mersey and is near the Albert Dock, and you can see it from there and on your way to the Beatles Story. =) Of course the Kop and the Liverpool FC museum are very important historical sights I can't think of anything else for now |

I remember at the end of the school year in 7th grade geography, each student was asked out of all the places in the world that we had studied, where did we wish to visit someday. I immediately raised my hand and said Liverpool. Several other girls said the same thing. This was the spring of 1964. My first visit to the UK was in 1989. I went with two people who did not care for the Beatles, so I took the train to Liverpool for the day. It was my best day of our trip. I loved it. Isn't the Anglican Cathedral where the Liverpool Oratorio was premiered? |

Initially why family of course, next time i am up there i have to take a few photos of a couple of toxy churchs and graves. Secondly, Cilla and the Beatles. Thirdly, why the boys in red. Then there are the judy's some mighty fine ones in the city. I use to know nearly every nurse's dorm in the city, picking up or dropping off my mate. Now girls you have to go to the Grafton Rooms the Beatles played there several times and jayne goes there regularly. I have lost count of how many times i have been in the walker. Years since i have been in the playhouse or the everyman, one of them is shut now i believe, when i lived there both were operating and putting on plays of the highest order by local playwrights. The philly had a good atmosphere and some fit women going there. a night out boppin and pullin' in snobs, tuxeys, romeo's or the bin then being real posh like and taking them for a meal at the yanyan on london road. Seems eons ago yest i am only 33. |

I've been to what is now a tea show on the other side of the Mersey. It is where Ringo played his first gig with the Beatles. The ladies there let us all do our Beatles thing and then served us tea. They were so sweet and nice. |
