BBC threat over Neighbours contract
Thats a lot of money they pay per episode in my opinion, it must still be a very popular show?

If the BBC didn't buy it, then I'm sure another channel would. I say stop wasting license-fee payers money on Neighbours and, with the money saved, make a home grown programme of our own. I'm sure Channel 5 would be delighted to pick up Neighbours where the BBC left off!

Personally, I think it's a dreadful programme. :P
...and in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.

Of course it is and it's the export income that's been carrying it for the last 15 years.

As for replacing it with something home-grown, I sympathise but would also point out that since Howard has gutted the ABC here, it's becoming more and more the local version of the BBC. Now the Beeb makes some great shows and we're glad to have them, but sometimes it really is just filling up the schedule with imports rather than having to make something local.

Back to the real topic though, do you realise that if the BBC, or someone like them, doesn't renew Neighbours, it will probably die here too?
You know what to do!
Put a puppet on it.
