CBS says it has worldwide property rights on the word “cheers” in a bar context - and has given Wigan-based Tony just ten days to confirm he’ll comply with their request to disassociate himself and his chain of Full Story And comments |

Great precedent! Now restaurants will be banned from serving MASHed potatoes, no-one will be able to describe themselves as being Married With Children, theatres will not be able to say there's a Full House, don't even think about hailing a Taxi, medical professionals will be on shakey ground describing Different kinds of Strokes, no American Dad will be able to call himself a Family Guy and vice versa because Family Ties are trademarked. As if there weren't enough obstacles to kids learnign The Facts of Life, now you can't even call them that! They're never going to Get Smart. You can't even have The Nanny tell them! We'll never again be able to have Happy Days without paying Paramount for the pleasure! Just Shoot Me! oops...... |
