This is a horrible story and will probably depress the hell out of you, just like it did me. Makes me wonder..... why?

A friend and colleague of mine, and a really great guy by the way, has a brother with three kids, the youngest being a 7 month old little boy. On Tuesday night, his wife was giving the baby a bath, when apparently she passed out. I'm not sure if she was in the bathtub with the baby, or if she was outside of the tub, but for some reason I got the impression she was in the tub with him. Anyway, she passed out, and meanwhile the baby drowned in the tub, with her being right there!

Now my friend/colleague is headed off to be with his brother and help make arrangements. When I asked him how his brother was doing, he basically said as well as can be expected. Then the bigger question... how's Mom doing? His answer: she's in jail.

He said they found alcohol in her system as well as legally prescribed medications. Don't know the details of their findings but that is just SOOOOOOO sad. Can you imagine having to live with that the rest of your life?

Rest in peace, sweet baby.

Wow ... that is heavy, hope that family is able to get through this. Hope you're alright too, kind of a mind blower as well as a heartbreaker.

Oh, Janet that is so horribly tragic for all the family.

It is especially poignant as a mother (Sally Clark) who was wrongly conviced and jailed for the death of two of her children because of faulty expert evidence has been found dead in her home yesterday.

I hope they are treating your friends wife kindly as a traumatised and grieving mother not as a criminal.

:( Very sad story. Having to live with that the rest of her life will be punishment enough. I hope her family can get her some help.
And in the end...The love you take..Is equal to the love you make.

Losing your children... then being blamed for their deaths. My god.

Oh, that is truly tragic!

Imagine having to spend the rest of your life knowing that you were responsible for the death of your own child!

I feel terrible for the entire family.

Both are tragic cases. I wonder how juries can convict these people sometimes - still, all they can do is what they feel is right, given the evidence presented. :hmm:

I agree. She's already received the worst possible punishment.

So sorry, Janet. :(

Such a family tragedy. To be accused 2 different times of murdering your baby's and being sentence twice in jail knowing you didn't do it, all that time sitting in jail, people thinking you did murder your baby's , including your cell mates, couldn't have let her live a peaceful life. I would imagine she wasn't a very healthy person. At least she's in peace now and with her baby's.

PEACE and love to my friends, Judy

What a nightmare. Alcohol & meds are never a good combination.
I know she is suffering, but I can also understand why she was arrested.
