"Mr Humphries are you free?"
"I'm free."

OMG, I absolutely LOVE this show. I loved Mr Humphries (John Inman), Miss Brahams (Wendy Richards) and Mr Sppner (Mike Berry).

I have the first season on DVD and it's hysterical.

Are You Being Served is a funny show but the episodes with Mr Lucas and Young Mr Grace stand head and shoulders above what came afterwards. Where Mr Lucas seemed playful in his banter with Mrs Slocum, Mr Spooner seemed down right mean.

Coupling rules when it comes to British Comedy.

I LOVE the show!

Some time back, my son and I watched them on PBS, we became addicted. At around the same time the program was experiencing an upsurge in popularity here in the states, and John Inman (Mr. Humphries) was touring around the country signing copies of a new book about the show. We were thrilled to meet him... bless him, he was a great deal like his charactor!

"Are You Being Served?" is one of my favorite British sit-coms...brilliantly written and performed.

I almost met John Inman when he came here to Buffalo, but that's around the time I had my accident and I was immoblie. I've seen several interviews with him and he seemed to be like his character. He just seemed like a person you'd like to just have tea with.
I don't know why I like Mr Spooner, I think it is because I had a slight crush on Mike Berry. But Mr Lucas is hysterical. I also loved mollie Sugdan as Mrs Slocombe. Us Mollys have to stick together ya know. :P

 I used to find it pretty funny when it was on the telly but I haven't seen it for a number of years. It must be pretty good though if it is still funny to todays audiences, comedy is so often dated after such a short time.

However, I just found a few clips on YouTube.

I don't think it even made the top 50 a few years back.

I watch it every Sunday night at 10:30 p.m., after that I watch As Time Goes By (my very favorite!...I love Judi Dench), then Keeping Up Appearances and then The Vicar of Dibley. During the week I watch Waiting For God at 10 p.m.

These are the only shows I watch faithfully besides 24 and NCIS.

John Inman sadly died today. He was 71 years old.
With every mistake we must surely be learning.
