I thought I'd start a thread about this venue as I know some members have been there for Paul's Ecce Cor Meum and/or A Concert For George and its a venue I have always wanted to go to and I finally am in March.
Where abouts did you sit and is it as special as one would expect?

It is wondrous experience just to be in the Uncle Albert Hall. I've been there three times. I was at the premieres of Ecce and Standing Stone and at the Concert for George.

I have sat on the floor for Ecce, in the third row on the side. Paul was quite close to me. However, I couldn't watch him.

For Standing Stone, I was in a box. That was very cool, as I could watch Paul and Linda from up above. Also felt like royalty in the box.

For the Concert for George, we had such a hard time getting a ticket, we didn't care where we sat. We were in the seats behind the sound board. Wix sat at the sound board and Sir George Martin was in a box near us. I was actually surprised at how much we could see.

I don't think there is a bad seat in the place.

The Uncle Albert Hall is every bit as special as it is made out to be. 5000 holes to fill the Royal Albert Hall. I always think about that.

I did learn to order your drinks for the interval before the show and they will be ready for you when you arrive. The line was too long and I didn't get anything.

Linda, why couldn't you watch Paul? This doesn't sound like you.!

Paul was too close to me, on the same level, and I couldn't see Paul at Ecce until he went on stage to greet the performers and speak to the audience. Then I was taking lots of pictures of him. I saw him come back after the interval, but I had to take a picture by holding my camera up in the air and I can't find him. I know who he was sitting with and I still can't find him. That picture is a blur.

The last time I was there I sat so far up front it was like I had my own audience.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Maccascruff, wow you had some good times there. Mark, was your daughter performing with all the other Surrey school's, I know my old school I used to teach in did that but I wasn't there then.

I am in the stalls for both concerts 30th and 31st March, I can't wait.

That's what we called it on our trip to Ecce. ;) And, yes, I am a Paul McCartney fan.

As much as I'd like to say it was an evening of Louise Baker's greatest hits, yes she was singing with the school.

Linda, what memories!! Were you able to take photos at "The Concert for George"? Did you get to see any of the performers before or after the show, or in the audience? That was such an incredible eveningl How lucky you were to be a part of it. :sweet:

I'm going to see The Kaiser Chiefs (March 30th) and The Who (March 31st) all for the Teenage Cancer Trust which Roger Daltrey organises every year. I can't wait.

We didn't take any photos of the Concert for George. Security was tighter than at the classical premieres. I am in the DVD though--in a wide audience pan shot.

I did take pictures at Ecce and I even took one of Jeff Lynne for Andy. ;)

Who is playing drums and bass for The Who this time around? Pardon my ignorance, but are stalls the same thing as box seats??

The Stalls are between the boxes and the arena which is at the bottom.

No, the stalls are not the same as the box seats. The boxes are up above and overlook the arena. I believe I was in the stalls for Ecce and it was on the floor.

I'll bet Andy was happy to get that picture. I stood about 2 feet away from Jeff Lynne at Eric Idle's afterparty for his last tour. Jeff Lynne still has a head full of hair, but he seems to wear a hat most of the time these days. Bald spot on top, perhaps?? He also wore dark glasses, even though this event was at night.

Maybe in one of the boxes that is called the Royal Box. Most venues like that have them. Even Wembley Stadium has one.

At the Prince's Trust Concert, Charles and Di, sat in the Royal Box.

Guess I was in the Arena for Ecce, a box for Standing Stone and the stalls for the Concert for George.

Jeff Lynne had on dark glasses and the lights were still down. The picture is very dark. I did get one of Wix after the lights came up that is much better.

I AM THE BIGGEST JOHN FAN!
Linda which song is playing during your audience shot at the Concert For George. I want to find you so I can show my kids and brag that I know you! I did the same thing on Pauls last Dvd when I found Judy. I had to show everyone and let them know I had the priveledge of meeting our Queen. Now I need bragging rights to Maccascruffs.
You say you want to save humanity but it`s people that you just can`t stand
John came to me in a dream and this is what he said. "I had a vision of a man on a flaming pie, and he told me that Betsy with a B not Lisa with a L is the biggest fan of mine". John trumps 'the boss' !

I'm sorry. I didn't see this question until tonight. We are in the audience shot way in the back (behind the soundboard) during Horse to the Water. Once you find us, we are in it several times after that. We've never found ourselves in the DVD before that song. My friend and I both saw it in the theater and that's the first place we saw ourselves.

I love the Uncle Albert Hall.
