I thought it might be nice to get some positive vibes going here. Tell us about some of the things you have done in your life that you look back on and find that you are proud of them. I marched for Civil Rights and against the Viet Nam War. My mother was totally against me doing both...my Dad encouraged me to speak out for others and do what I felt in my heart was right. I'm so glad today that I listened to him.

I AM THE BIGGEST JOHN FAN!
|
I am proud of the fact that even though I came from a mentally and physically abusive home, I was able to break the cycle and my kids were not abused. I owe it all to my sweet wonderful Aunt Josie. She showed me that not everyone lived the way I did and she was my strength and support for many years. Bless her sweet heart, now she has alzheimers and this past summer had to be put in a facility to look after her. It breaks my heart. My monster mother is still in full possession of all her faculties and anger issues but her sweet gentle sister has been robbed of her humanity. Doesn`t seem fair somehow. |
|
You say you want to save humanity but it`s people that you just can`t stand John came to me in a dream and this is what he said. "I had a vision of a man on a flaming pie, and he told me that Betsy with a B not Lisa with a L is the biggest fan of mine". John trumps 'the boss' ! I WAS ROBBED BY THAT DEVIL WOMAN | |

Applying for law school. For me, it's a step in the right direction. I have ideals like Jefferson Smith from Mr Smith Goes to Washington, that as a lawyer, I will uphold and defend the laws and the Consitution of the United States. Some of my fellow classmates scoff at this ideal and say that they are in it for the money. I'm in it to preseve my country's laws in some way and hopefully get my foot in the door to run for politics. If I do well, I'd like to run for a seat in the Senate. So I'm very very proud to apply and being in law school. |

I'll have to join the other Mom's here. My four, grown children, married with children (seven grandchildren) are my greatest accomplishments. They are very responsible children and have well mannered children. They have pride in their homes and teach their children the same by keeping their bedrooms clean. They bring a smile to my face and I love how they love me. I know if I was poor tomorrow, I would always be welcomed in their home. They would probably even argue who gets me. They are my grown children but they are also my friends. They are God's Blessing to me. |

Great thread Jana. I love reading every one's posts. I'm not one to toot my own horn, but TOOT TOOT! I am proud of myself for being a successful college graduate and having a career that I love. It's so rewarding. I have the privilege of being mom to two beautiful babies. I never knew what true love was before my children. I consider myself a good wife. I love hard....with all I have. I am very giving and nurturing. I am able to see the err of my ways by looking at things from other's perspectives. I am financially successful and independent when I need to be....a trait I learned from my mother. I guess that's enough TOOTIN'

I am proud to be a member of my family. Is that too generic? Since before the American Revolution, my father's side has served mostly honorably in every American war up to and including Vietnam. Then my father went and had pacifist daughters. Since I have no children, I really have not done anything exceptionally pride-worthy. I have been a volunteer counselor at a suicide prevention and crisis center for about six years and I donate half of my income to various charities. On the self-toot scale, that is not too shabby. Most importantly, I am proud of my ability to lick my own nose. |

I'm proud of volunteering for a soup kitchen role in London this Christmas just gone. I worked two days, but, although a few of the other volunteers talked to me, there surprisingly wasn't much comradeship. I won't do it again, but I can tell you that giving your time is several times harder than giving your money! |

Isn't that true, Robert? People don't realize that giving of yourself takes a committment where writing a check really does not. Our darling Mozart makes a committment each month by donating half of her income...but that is different than writing a check and forgetting it. I'm sorry that the soup kitchen was not a friendly bunch. We have a large group here who do the same thing at Thanksgiving and at Christmas and we seem to have more fun than the people we serve. We give gifts at Christmas (usually hats, gloves, blankets, soap, etc) and toys for the kids. We have carolers and Santa! I urge you to try it again next year and see if you can find a better group or add some life to the one you were with this year! Good job anyway, I'm proud of you! |

Not to spook anyone from helping in a food kitchen, but beware if you bring your children. My husband's wife works at one when the girls were young teenagers. A man came up to my daughter and asked where the men's room is and she told him where.....it was downstairs. He said he went and couldn't find it and asked if she would show him. She took him downstairs and he wanted her to perform sex on him. Fortunately, Lisa discovered Liz was gone and someone said she went downstairs with a man. Immediately Lisa start screaming for Liz and she was found behind the piano crying and screaming too. Nothing happened, but the man was arrested on attempt sex with a minor. Kids are so trusting........ ((((M8toes)))) You are a wonderful daughter, and a very giving one. Plus a wonderful sense of humor! Be proud of yourself. |
