Sorry everyone. I know this thread sounds wierd and largely silly, but does anyone know anything about green tea? I'm writing a report and am about a half a page short

I'm especially in need of citations. Does anyone know any good sites?

Thanks for your time, and sorry for the awkwardness of this

iscreamer; Health benefits (herbal and clinically proven ;) ). Also, anything I can fluff my essay with (aka extra stuff to buff it a bit) is much appreciated ;)

maccascruff; I have googled it, but I get a lot of sites selling it and such

Once again, thanks for the help :)

I started drinking Nestle Green Tea for a little while, until I realised that it has more sugar than coke . I've never tried making it before though..

I AM THE BIGGEST JOHN FAN!
I visited a tea plantation in China last year and went to a tasting. I learned that the finest tea and the ones that contain the most concentrated forms of the substances that promote good health come from the first harvest.

Also all the teas in china are hand harvested and hand rolled. We got to meet some of the workers in the processing plant and the palms of their hands after a few years become almost as smooth as glass. You can barely see a line in the palm of their hands. The reason for this is that the tea leaves are placed in large bowls and then the are rolled around the bowl in a certain pattern using the palm of the hand to roll the leaves properly. This promotes proper drying and allows them to age evenly.
You say you want to save humanity but it`s people that you just can`t stand
John came to me in a dream and this is what he said. "I had a vision of a man on a flaming pie, and he told me that Betsy with a B not Lisa with a L is the biggest fan of mine". John trumps 'the boss' !

Thanks for the info ^_^ I think I can use some of that!

And, maccascruff, even though I can't use that, keep in mind that it does a body good :D

If you want to have a "healthy" and TASTY fake green tea, go for 4c or Crystal Light (that's MY addiction  :D )

Pineapple Juice?? I have to try that :D

I don't know if we have that here. But I can have a look.

Yeah, I started drinking pineapple juice earlier last year (was gonna say this year ), when I started suffering from an on-again, off-again flu throughout winter and some of summer. Now, I can't get enough of the stuff!

One of my favourite sites, Wikipedia, has a decent-sized page on Green Tea. Hope you find some of it useful. :)

I know I drink WAY too much of it. I'm on my second pot today, and it's only 8am.

I know it has 20% of the caffine of the same amount of coffee.

If you get a box, they usually have some cornk fake oriental drawings and a nice little mysitc story on the inside that will tell youa bit about it. ;)

Try doing a modified search ... I mean place something like "green tea + history" or "green tea + health benefits" or "green tea + antioxidants." If you use the plus sign "+" within your search then you'll end up with results that are more honed to what you're after ... you can use multiple instances to really hone in on the subject.

I'd suspect that you might wanna see if you can find sites with an .org within 'em too. They're more reliable than .com sites (.com stands for "commerical" while .org stands for "organization" ...). If it's a paper for school then try to use as many .org sites as you can, their looked upon more favorably than the .com's are.

For example here's a .gov site (that's for "government" and those, like the .org sites are favored over the .com sites):

http://www.cancer.gov/newscenter/pressreleases/tea

Here's a .edu one (also, more respected for scholastic based research):

http://www.umm.edu/altmed/ConsHerbs/GreenTeach.html

Here's a webmd article (yeah, it's a .com ... but at least it's medically based right):

http://www.webmd.com/content/article/112/110306.htm

Hope that helps ... and sorry that I didn't check this thread earlier (might not be of much use at this point if that paper was already due).

I AM THE BIGGEST JOHN FAN!
One more quite disturbing thing to me that I learned when I visited one of the premier Tea Plantations in China was this particular fact. All of us in the west know that China is a communist country (and I thought communist was supposed to mean equal(hahahaha, tongue in cheek) but we were told at the plantation that only the finest of the first harvest goes to all the government officials, and I might add that they were quite proud of that fact.

I also found it to be a bit distasteful to visit The Forbidden City and see a Gigantic portrait of Chairman Mao on the main gate. Also across the street from the main gate into the Forbidden city ( gugong) was Tiannemen Square. It somehow perplexes me that a government that has completely ostrasized all of it`s ancient and imperial past has embraced the very same concepts for it`s future.

Even with my personal disallusionments of China I still very much love the people and the culture that this nation has given the world.
You say you want to save humanity but it`s people that you just can`t stand
