I took a few pictures after I shoveled 33 inches of snow this morning of our blizzard. I am only going to post links, but you can see what we're going through.

I don't know if I can get to work tomorrow. I shoveled behind my garage, but the parking lot hasn't been plowed. Some assh*le has parked directly behind my garage, which makes it difficult to get out when there isn't 33 inches of snow on the ground. Some people with 4 wheel drive had made a path and, after two tries, I did manage to get out. I couldn't get back in the garage because of the weird angle. I drove around the complex and then tried again. It took a couple of tries and spinning tires, but I made it. I don't know what the roads are like as I didn't get that far. They were saying to only go out if you have 4 wheel drive and I do not.

There was no mail yesterday or today and Sunday delivery is being discussed. Wouldn't that be something? UPS, Fedex and the like all were closed. The Denver airport has been officially closed since about 2 PM yesterday, but very few flights got out yesterday. They now say it will be closed until at least noon tomorrow and all airlines will not be back to normal. I really feel for the people who are stranded here, particularly the ones stranded at the airport itself all night. Because they didn't have boarding passes, they all had to crowd in the terminal where you check in. At some point this morning, they did start letting people out on the concourses to relieve the crowding. They also took 10 busloads of people to downtown Denver hotels.

Here are the links to the pictures:

:o Linda, that is a LOT of snow! It looks so pretty, but I bet it's a nightmare to shovel. I hope you can get around safely soon.

It was actually like powder. I got to it before it started melting. By the time I got to the garage, there was water at the bottom and it was heavy. That was also why I had problems trying to drive through it.

I'm really concerned that if I do get to the office tomorrow, I will get stuck in our parking lot. We're the only tenant in the building and I've seen no signs of snow removal so far. Some people at IBM got stranded overnight last night because they couldn't get out of the parking lot.

Wow Linda......the snow looks pretty but I can't imagine driving without 4 wheel drive. are they expecting you at work or can you continue working at home? Stay home if you can. I wish we had a white Christmas with all that snow. Then I wouldn't have to go to my in-laws, lol.
Be safe!!!!! When does Rick get in?

That IS alot of snow, Linda...it looks like what we've gotton in the past. Pretty to look at, but terrifying to go out in until the streets are cleared out.

I'd just sit back and relax, this gives you a little time to enjoy the holiday, anyway. More than likely they'll have it resolved by Saturday, at the latest.

:) Merry

I'm to a point where I don't have much left to do without going in to the office. I think I am going to wait and see what it's like around 10 AM. I'm hoping some other people will have trampled down the snow in the parking lot. I also know they don't plow the lot where I work.

Right now, Rick is due in on Sunday. But they are so backed up and the planes aren't in the right places, they really don't know.

I'm really hoping I don't have to go in to work, but it is a new job and the guy doesn't know me that well.

pood for paul

Wow~I lived in Grand Junction for 9 years, but our weather was much different than Denver's!

It is pretty, as long as I'm not in it~but I must say~I LOVE downtown Denver and the 16th Street Mall.
Whenever we came over, we stayed at the Marriott~17th and California.

Stay safe and warm~ :)

When I lived in Fort Collins, I stayed at the Marriott a lot when I worked for Uncle Sam. I also stayed there when I came out to Denver from Iowa to see Paul in 2002.

Yes, it's pretty, but I'm dreading driving in it. Some college kids built a ski hill and were snowboarding when I went to shovel out my car.

So much pretty snow!! Brrrrr

When people complain about the 110 degree weather we get here I always say "at least you don't have to shovel yourself out of 110" No I know what I mean!!!

Oh so true, Irene. Usually our snow melts quickly, but this much snow this time of year is not going to melt quickly.

Wow, Linda....just looking at those pictures is making me shiver. I'm such a wimpy California girl, complaining here about not being able to wear shorts cause it's a little cold outside. Stay inside and I hope you don't have to try and go to work.

The Eastern slope and Eastern plains of Colorado will definitely be having a White Christmas.

I'm trying to figure out a good excuse for tomorrow without sounding like a total wimp.

Wanna come play in it? We could have a snowball fight!

This isn't a wet snow, so power hasn't been a problem, but when people go back to work tomorrow, there are going to be a lot of accidents and I don't want to be in one.

I've seen lots of kids doing that today, Bill. And the kids who built a ski hill and went snowboarding were rolling in the snow.

I'd love to hop a plane and go down under, but there are no planes flying from here.

This is the fourth largest snowstorm in the history of Denver. They got 24 inches. We got 33 and, as you can probably tell, the wind blew and it drifted. That's a large part of the problem at the airport--clearing all those drifts.

I feel such a wimp complaining about the cold when it's a few degrees above freezing and no snow and no chance of it snowing.

I wouldn't mind having some of that in time for Christmas :)

I was wrong about how bad this storm was--it is only the 7th worst storm on record, but still a big one.

I heard a plow on my sidewalk. I'm about to head out and see what I find when I get to my car. I may have to shovel to get it out.

I went to the grocery store this morning to find bare shelves. No produce, milk, bread, eggs, sugar, baking power, yogurt, beer, meat, seafood, turkeys, etc. They have had no deliveries since Tuesday. The manager told me while I was waiting to check out that they should have had two trucks at the time I was there, but none had arrived. They expect another one at 5:30 PM. I only need milk. He told me to call before coming back over there and fighting the crowds.

I'm glad I had my Christmas Eve meal already purchased and in the freezer.
