Friday at 10:00 AM EST youngest daughter Julia Rose gets cut. They're taking her tonsils and adenoids. She needs them out badly. Her tonsils are practically kissing they're so big. I'm not worried about the surgery, but I hate the recovery. I just want to cry when kids hurt so bad. |

Poor little thing. I don't actually know what she'll be going through, but I've heard you're forced to eat ice cream. I hope she feels better soon after! |

Ice cream and popsicles were Analise's reasoning for having the surgery last year. I hope Julia does as well as she did. She was one heck of a trooper! |

Hey Chad, back in January of this year Hayden had his adenoids out and had tubes put in his ears due to numerous ear infections. I was terrified about him going under general anesthesia and being intubated. All turned out well though. During his time in recovery he got sick from the anesthesia and that was hard to bear. I know exactly what you mean about feeling helpless when your baby is sick or in pain. Hayden had very little pain and by two days later he was pretty much back to normal. It wasn't nearly as bad as what I expected, and I am an over-protective mother hen. Your experience will be a bit different because she's having her tonsils out and Hayden didn't. Kids are resilient though. They bounce back much quicker than we do. It's our job to sit and worry. I hope all goes well.

The very best to Julia, Chad! I know it seems frightening, but kids are remarkably resilient when it comes to these things. My youngest son had to have his tonsils and adenoids out when he was seven. We were terrified because he has a rare condition called "Hyperthermia", but he came through it with flying colors. The hospital staff saw to it that everything went smoothly and he actually enjoyed all the attention and the ice cream and popsicles. Now on the other hand, my ex-husband had to get his out when he was in his latter 20's and he was the worst patient on the planet! He freaked out over not being able to eat and swore he'd never be able to again! Our oldest son was an infant and when he got home I wound up with TWO babies on my hands! I think it's best to get it over and done with early. My son had suffered for a long time with oversized, infected tonsils from toddler-hood, and after the surgery he didn't have all the throat infections and was able to put on some much needed weight! I will be thinking of you and your little girl...I think it's wonderful that you are such a kind and empathetic father. Merry

Oh my, she's a gorgeous child!!! And such a lovely name... If you lived close to Miami she could be playmates with my Amber! Chad, I do hope and I'm sure that everything will go smooth. Amber, like Tassy's son, also had ear tubes (2 times) and the second surgery included removal of her adnoids as well. She was up and running around that afternoon! I'll be thinking about Julia tomorrow and my prayers are with you for a very speedy recovery! Tell her to enjoy the ice cream!! |

Awwww....I had my tonsils taken out when I was 14...I know what you mean when you say she needs it bad....my tonsils were swollen like crazy
Anyway, I heard that the pain afterwards gets worse the older you get...so imagine how poor Ringo must have felt! Julia will be ok! I drank a LOT of soda afterwards because I liked the feeling of those bubbles in my throat and of course a lot of ice-cream!! I don't think she'll feel much of that pain anymore when she gets fed tons of ice-cream

ah chad, just saw this thread. as you well know kids are tough little cookies and more importantly, getting tonsils out when you are younger is much better tolerated that when older. she is probably eating popsicles right now feeling a world better. best wishes for a speedy recovery but it is always sooo much harder when it is our own kids |

The doctor called last nite at 8:00 and said Julia's X-Ray looked suspicious. We took her in yesterday because she had that croupy cough. And we had to make sure she was OK for surgery. Anyway, they believe her upper left lobe has collapsed just slightly. They need us to bring her in today for follow up films.

((((Chad)))) Sorry to hear Julia is having her tonsils out tomorrow. It's always hard to see someone so young have surgery, especially when their your own. My daughter had tonsils like your daughter, they were hugh puss bags. They tried to clear her up before surgery but those were stubborn tonsils. Julia will be fine ~~ lots of ice cream and popsicles ~~ and maybe a few presents! Let us know how your cutie is doing. |

Sorry to hear about Julia's tonsils...I'm sure she will come through with flying colors (and lots of ice cream!). My youngest had hernia surgery when he was 4...it was probably one of the hardest things I had to go through. I remember very vividly when they wheeled him away for the surgery...and I cried and cried. But alls well that ends well and he bounced back in record time. Its not easy being a parent...you always want to take away any hurt and pain...and you feel so helpless when you can't. I hope and pray everything turns out OK. God Bless. |

Chad, Julia will do beautifully through this, you'll see. She's your daughter, so that means she's a tough little bugger and will be fine. I sure wish my tonsils were taken out, all through my childhood and teens I caught sore throats about every month! But this was in the times when the docs were thinking it wasn't nessracy to remove tonsils. But watch Julia being up and about in a week or so! Kids bounce back so quickly, it's amazing! |

Yeah, I believe little ones recover much faster than us geezers.
SO glad that little Julia has this behind her! It's downhill all the way from here, and she'll never have to experience that again! When I had my tonsils out, I think I must have been about 5 and I remember it. When the doctor told me I'd be spending the night in the hospital I was so scared and I screamed so loud for so long that the doctor gave in and told my parents I'd be better off at home than staying there screaming bloody murder. Funny thing was that the reason I was so scared was because no one told me that Mom and/or Dad would be staying with me! And you're one helluva Dad, Chad. You have one lucky family. Give Julia a big hug for me! |

I AM THE BIGGEST JOHN FAN!
|
Then you would love my mom!!! When my youngest was younger than she is now, she equated all the members of our family to SpongeBob characters. My mom in her opinion was suidward and she wasn`t too off the mark either with her assessment and she was only about 4 at the time. She felt my son in law was Patrick, her older sister was Mr. Krabbs, her brother Tim was SpongeBob, her brother Dave was Larry the lifeguard, her dad was Mermaid man and I was Gary the snail. Go figure

You say you want to save humanity but it`s people that you just can`t stand John came to me in a dream and this is what he said. "I had a vision of a man on a flaming pie, and he told me that Betsy with a B not Lisa with a L is the biggest fan of mine". John trumps 'the boss' ! I WAS ROBBED BY THAT DEVIL WOMAN | |

That is a great goal. I don't have those kinds of memories of my parents, though I love them dearly. What you're describing just didn't happen at our house. |

It didn't happen at my wife's house either. But she's doing her part to make sure it does at ours. She's an awesome mom. And I am very lucky to have been raised in a very loving home. |

Me too Chad... I was raised in a household with much love and affection. My parents were (and still are) awesome folks who put their children as their #1 priority in life. I am very blessed in that respect, and I feel for those who did not grow up in that type of environement. |

You are very lucky, Chad and Janet. I have had a lot of issues and a lot of therapy to forgive my parents. How's Julia doing today? |

Merry

I hope she doesn't have too much pain and recovers quickly from her surgery.
