Click on the link below and light a candle for AIDS research. For each candle lit, Bristol-Meyers Squibb will donate $1.

This is beautfiul and I lit a candle for AIDS funding too, Chad.

I just wonder why thsee huge multi-million dollar corporations don't donate money themselves without making people go through these steps.

It will take many millions of people to participate and make it all worthwhile.

I actually read that the maximum contribution of $100,000 has already been met. But they may consider upping the ante if it stays popular. And with almost 850,000 candles lit to date, it looks like it may keep growing.

Great thread!

On a sidenote, we 'celebrated' the world AIDS day here in Athens with a little festival and it was beautiful; I wanted to share a couple of pics

I did not see this thread until today. I'm glad I am now part of the 1.6 million people who have lit a candle. I am a supporter of AIDS research. Let the light shine on and on and on.

You started this thread on the fourth day of my new job and I was in a total fog and didn't see many threads. Plus, that was my first Thursday and I had worked on a project that left me totally frustrated and feeling incompetent.

Thank you for the link, Chad. My Church does its' best to get the word out about HIV/AIDS. We don't want to lose anymore members to this disease. I have known to many people who have suffered with theis disease and have lost the fight to many times. This disease can easily be eradicated but to many people are either to uneducated or take on the attitude of it won't happen to me (I'm not gay or it just won't happen). Bullshite, it can happen to you no matter who you are. Be educated, aware, and listen. Don't become a statistic, don't make your mother/father/sister/brother/husband/wife/daughter/son watch you get sick and die.

My mother had a very dear friend who passed over from AIDS-related pneumonia several years ago - he was a darling man and we still miss him greatly.

I have lit a candle in memory of Graham. :sweet:
I don't believe in Bondi. I don't believe in rugby league. I believe in Yoko, John Lennon, the Lost Weekend and me.
