Alphabet Games; Please read

Recently, the forum has become flooded with alphabet games, some of them very similar. Whilst we don't want to interfere in members' fun, it could quite easily put some members off the 'Mind Games' forum if all they see are fairly pointless alphabet games. We want a rich mix of games in this forum so we've felt it necessary to impose the following rule;

From now on, if you want to create a new alphabet game, please PM a moderator before creating the thread. The moderator will either give the go-ahead for the game or turn down the request and give a reason why they don't believe such a game is of benefit to the board.

Thanks,

Andy

Andy, it should be thank you. I signed on and couldn't believe my eyes. I won't participate in the new ones, so maybe they will die a natural death. I look at it as participating is encouraging them.

I'm enjoying some of the newer ones, but I can understand how repeats shouldn't be allowed.

I'd like to say in my own defense though, that I'm the type of person who enjoys filling out questionairres and Crossword puzzles, too!

So spending a bit of time on these games is right up my alley.

My feeling is, if you don't care for it, then don't participate. There are still a few of us that really do get a kick out of doing them! ;)

We're very happy for new, completely different and sensible alphabet games to be created, but we don't want the whole forum to be completely flooded by them, that's all. We don't like having to censor or implement rules (or indeed do any work that we don't have to!) and, when we feel that the point has been made, the rule will be lifted.

Until then, we'll see how it goes & thank you all for your co-operation. :)

I agree, Andy...I won't start any game threads without checking with you first.

I realize there are alot of alphabet games now. For me they are a way to keep my mind occupied. I think most of us will use discretion and participate in those that interest us most, those that don't will fade away. ;)

It's only the alphabet games we're watching at the moment - any other games, please feel free to go right ahead! :)

You're probably right about the less-popular games fading away. I guess if they're of interest to the members they'll stay and if they're not then they won't. ^_^

Okay Andy, thank you!

I appreciate your fairness. For me they are just ways to take my mind off things for a while.

Whatever you choose is fine with me.

Some of the newer alphabet games are of little interest to me. Apparently the subject matter isn't because I don't know enough to even participate. I do like the Beatles related ones.

I thought I'd give members a reminder of this policy - and I've added the opening post in this thread to the 'forum guidelines' for Mind Games. :)

Well, sorry about that, I wasn't aware of that policy. I thought a "jobs" alphabet game would have sort of an educational element. But, feel free to delete it, I certainly do not want to be responsible for creating a negative spark which would turn people off. I don't want to gain a bad reputation - I'm a positive person.

It was just a reminder. If you check the thread you created recently, I've already 'approved' it. ;)

I think the onus should be for us (the mod/admin team) to make sure the policy is in a place that is easily accessible and not buried a few pages back, otherwise we've only got ourselves to blame if people don't know about it or had forgotten about it. :)

This rule has now been abolished, as alphabet (and counting) games have their own forum - A... B... C... D....
