Not at all - occasionally there are movies and albums that people absolutely rave about and then I watch/listen to them and wonder just exactly what it is I was supposed to have 'got' from it. Music examples: My Bloody Valentine, Velvet Underground. Movie examples: Solaris, The Bourne Identity. Sometimes you just don't connect - and I don't think it's any indicator of intelligence, taste or otherwise. Some things speak to you, artistically, others just don't. |
| ...and in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make. | |

You would not happen to be a Woody Allen fan, would you?
I have seen the fields of wheat scene a million times, but I still laugh. The juxtaposition between Woody Allen and Diane Keaton was simply perfect.

I haven't seen the movie, but I subscribe to the Ricky Gervais podcast where they sat Karl Pilkington down and made him watch it. His question was, Could the movie still have happened if they weren't gay? It's an interesting question. |

But that's the point! They were gay when they were not allowed to be. It wouldn't have worked as a man and a woman because there wouldn't be all the tension nor the fear of society. Maybe if it had been forbidden like an affair, but that's all been done before. Just as it wouldn't have worked as a man and a woman, it wouldn't have worked in another time or part of the country. And I think love can be an unspoken thing sometimes. Anyway, you don't have to like it. It doesn't make my top 5 either.

I have never seen a horror movie since I was a kid. I don't like them. I can only say King Kong--the ones I saw in the early 60's. |
