| A Walk down Memory Lane. . . . . . .; at that "other" place | |

I've spent a lot of time recently with people I met through that "other" board and lately I've been reminiscing about some of the threads that kept many of us hooked on that place. Since we would probably have action taken against us for discussing them "over there", I thought it would be fun to take a walk down memory lane and talk about some of the topics that kept things buzzing. I guess I'll get the ball rolling . . . . I remember the thread about the girl from another country who met a man through the board, and was planning to visit the states to be with him. For months, lots of people were helping her with her plans, and it was like tuning in daily to watch a favorite drama. Fast forward to her arrival in the states. The girl finally meets up with Prince Charming, only to find out that he just happens to have a wife and children.
Sadly, I think she came here on a one-way ticket. Anyway, people from the board were so angry with the man, that he actually posted his excuses and apologies on the board, and his wife also posted. We were also witness to the girl spilling her most raw emotions about the whole sorry mess. It went downhill from there. . . . THAT was my first experience on a message board. (I don't mean that I was the girl in the story. . . just meant that that was the first thread I read, and I couldn't believe I was reading such personal drama about people I had never met!!) Anyone else remember that??? |

I know that SOMEONE here must surely remember that!!! It sure led to a lot of other s**t. . . . . . Well, O.K. Moving on. Remember the time that one boardie used the nude photo of John and Yoko as part of her signature??? That stayed on there for the longest time. Can you imagine what would happen now if someone tried to post that???

Yes, I know who you are talking about now, but I don't remember following the "story" either! Maybe that was during the time I was involved in my own way with somebody and not paying attention...but mine was kept off the otherplace. We really did have lots of good times there though, I don't know how or why it deteriorated like it did! Merry |

This drama started happening in early 2002, in my first days on the board. One thing led to another and the next thing you know, people started getting banned. Guess the more things change, the more they stay the same. Back then, people used to post fairly graphic posts about Paul, John and anything seemed fair game for discussion. Anyone remember the Paul photo thread with the naughty pix??? Come on, Lauren. . . . I know you remember that one!!

I wish I'd been around in the 'early days'... but even when I joined in early 2004, the McCartney board was a lot more vibrant and fun than it is now. I loved that place.

I can't remember the specifics, but I know that she took an instant dislike to me for reasons beyond my understanding. All I knew is that she didn't like one of my opinions, started berating me about being a 'newbie' and then when I defended myself, I started getting bombarded by emoticons and exclamation points. Our relationship never recovered... can't say I was particularly upset.

My screen name is a tribute to Jeff's ever-present beard - I've come to the conclusion that he was probably born with it.
I chose it on a whim a couple of years ago when all of the Macca & Beatles related ones I could think of had already been taken, so I went with one of my other favourite artists, Jeff... and the beard bit seemed a little bit quirky - like me.

Sorry, Gary - you're not to know but, before you became a regular on the Paul board, there were quite a few threads before yours asking the origins of people's usernames. I guess, at that point, I was tired of explaining mine. I usually posted something lengthy and humorous, but I had internet burn-out for a while and didn't want to settle for some half-hearted attempt... it's all or nothing with me, generally.

Yes I remember the thread you are talking about Scottycat. It was more dramatic than any soap opera, except it was real life. It was hard to tell who was using who in the situation. I think they were both equally guilty. There were a lot of good people who helped out when the girl was left stranded in a foreign country. She didn't seem to appreciate it if I remember correctly. I did feel really sorry though when the man's poor wife came and posted. The other thread I remember is the one where a young girl indicated she was going to commit suicide and posted a kind of farewell post The board admin had to contact the police in her counrty. Who went to her house and her furious mum found her upstairs in her room quite happy and healthy. She did have to make a very sheepish apology. Maybe helps to explain why Fiona's thread wasn't allowed to keep going on the other board. |

Haha I remember I had a go at her one day when she was being really rude to me and someone else (concerning Chaos & Creation if I'm correct), then of course ended up calling her names because I am not patient or politically correct, then - what a suprise - the posts were deleted. We continued through pm's and it was so hard to make a point or understand where she was coming from that we just ended this whole thing with the f word. Aaahhh memories~~~! |

Yes, I remember both of those stories all too well! Those were the days. I remember joining in 2000 or 2001 as "daytripper" and someone else was "daytrippper" with 3 "p's and was quite nasty. I remember the story about Noa. I heard it all on the telephone, too, because I felt sorry for her before I realized she is a nut case. Last year, I even made two attempts to meet her in Toronto, but she came up with excuses not to meet me and I will make no further attempts to contact her. Having met Harley in person in Liverpool 2003, I wasn't really thrilled when she showed up at our limo watch in Sacramento. Luckily for me, I don't have any pictures with her in them from either trip. She's never been particularly fond of me and I don't really care about that. I missed the suicide attempt from the young girl, but did get involved with Dorothy when she said she was going to commit suicide. She was going to go through with it, but her daughter or somebody intervened. I just wish the freedoms we used to have there were still there, but instead they are gone and many of us have moved to this wonderful board. You know, I don't miss the fussing and fighting with some people there at all. Still wondering why Tripping hasn't posted in months and months. Did she get banned? I was told that they were planning on putting "Banned" by user names, but it isn't by Shannon's name and I believe she was banned. I have met some wonderful people through that board who I have met in real life. The Toronto meet up was fantastic--I got to meet Nutty and manon, among others. Then there was Des Moines--I got to meet Bev among others. On to Denver--a small gather with no one from here. Then it was Sacramento with Audrey and Barb. Audrey knew Harley was coming and didn't tell me. <_< She knew I wouldn't go if I knew that and she was right. But I have pictures of Paul in his limo, so it was worth the hug she gave me. Yes, I used the rolling eyes. |

I also had a BIG run in with HarleyBlues/Christina. In her defense she seems to have calmed down quit a bit from the H]arley who would be so vocal and nasty. I bought her a Vegas, row 3 ticket and a ticket to both shows in Chicago, someone else was going to pay for her airfare and hotel. Then we found out she did have family, (she said she had no family) she had no money for concerts to see Paul. Well some of you know that girl went to quit a few concert and even got his autograph. We ended up pulling the tickets, airfare, and hotel and ended our friendship. It's hard to be friends when you don't have trust. A certain MOD was all over my butt because she was good friends with Christine. Fast forward 8 months, I do talk to her once in awhile. She may phone me or I'll call her. She has had a very hard life and it's hard for her to trust because of it. She has that hard edge because of her past but does have a big heart under that wall she has built around her. Unfortunately Paul is her LIFE. And we are not even a dot in his busy life. And she needs to realize this, which maybe she has by now. I hope so for her sake. I hope i wan'ts being inappropriate with speaking about this situation, but to help some people understand Harley better. And yes Andy she didn't care for you. She wouldn't like it when I posted on any of your threads. lol She never said why she didn't like you. |

And she is not the only one for whom Paul is their life. These people need to get a real life and understand that Paul is not and will never be our friend. I hope Harley has figured that out, but we don't communicate so I don't know. She is not the only one by far who thinks that way. |

Well, here's another clue for you all, the Walrus was Paul...
|
I joined the PM board before the 'crash'...although I really didn't post much and was absolutely clueless to drama happening 'behind the scenes' there. Some of the names you speak of, I remember...some I don't...I didn't really start posting and reading with regularity until Pauls last tour... and then I became more aware of the fighting and drama that went on there. I always found it rather fascinating and eye opening to peoples online behavior. Shannon was probably the first member of that board that I actually remember going out of my way to read her posts...I found her hilarious. I've always hated the term 'newbie'...for some reason it seems condescending to me...but it is a term that was abused on the PM forum...(just like the  ) I've never talked to anyone here on the phone...or met anyone in person...although there are some people I have come to like very much and if the opportunity ever presented itself...would love to meet. P.S. I also wonder what happened to "Tripping"...I assumed she got banned because I can't imagine she wouldn't be posting... P.S.S. I agree about people having too much PAUL on their mind. One of the things that always kinda annoyed me about the PM board...was how people actually posted TO Paul...thinking that he would read their loving words and rush right over to meet them...I'm not a fan of ass-kissers.

Does anyone remember when Paul left little messages to 11 randomly selected people in May of 2001? Number 6, here. It happens, Rose!
There really have been some nasty incidents on that place. I'll never understand why some people are so desperate to make problems for others they don't even know. Have they nothing better to do than make themselves look better by making others look worse? I'd love these people to see just how accurate they were. |

Lucky you, Fiona! (what did the message say??)I guess what I am talking about...are the people who post on that board...who act like they are a close, personal friend of Pauls...who, in fact, BELIEVE that they know what Paul thinks...feels...and act like they are speaking for him. I find that beyond irritating! <_< |

I remember it well. It was Eggs and Dr. Robert, who lived in Montana. Noa went there under his false pretense that he was divorced. She quit her job in Israel and spent her money on the flight to the States. When she arrived she found out he was married(the hard way) because she was caught in the sack with him when his wife made an unexpected visit. Brother Ray and #1PMFAN (Don) started the donations coming from several board members including myself. Someone gave Eggs a computer, a Macca ticket to the show in Boston and over $1000 bucks, a train ticket, and a few nights in a hotel. When she got to Boston Keps put her up in her apartment. She doesn't speak to anyone of the people that helped find her way. |

I'm sorry, but I like HarleyBlues. I think to me, she's very sweet. I remember trying to get in touch with her, but we kept playing phone tag. *lol* I know w've gotten into disagreements, but she's a good person, IMHO. Maybe I'm issing something though. Now Noa on the other hand, don't get me started. She's a nutcase, like other people said. I had a run in with her on the John Lennon MB and she always seemed to have bad things to say about love. I remember the suicide thread and that was sad. And I can understand why the admins nixed the other suicide threads. I personally wince when I see that word, because I've had to deal with it in my own life. I'd like to know why Shannon and Tripping were banned? I know I didn't get along with Tripping, but I don't think she should have been banned, and I liked Shannon a lot. When she left the boards they started to go downhill.

Man, Beatnut, that thread was really, really funny until the s**t hit the fan. I wish someone had saved the funny bits, like all the advice you guys were giving to her. It was so f**kin' funny. . . plus, it was almost like being in a chat room, as the posts were so rapid-fire. . . I'd come back from work and have to catch up on pages and pages!! Wonder if the so-called DR. and his missus stayed together?? I also remember the feud that happened between RampaigeRN and Noa, after Noa was going to start sleeping with anyone she could find, just to get her hooks into an American guy. At least, that's the impression I was able to gather from that thread. If you feel like it, you could fill us in with the real story at long last. It was like reading a real page-turner, only to find out the last chapter of the book had been torn out!!!

Ahhh you were close. RampaigerRN told off Noa because we were all going to meet for dinner and then go to Strawberry Fields in Central Park. Eggs kept bitching about the menu and that she didn't eat meat, then she was going to take a cucumber in the ladies room with her and do weird things to herself I guess. That's when the poop hit the fan between them. Hey Ogoble, tell me about that first PM, what did you say to me? The funniest part of the Noa and Dr. Robert thread is when me and Skray kept typing the 10 things Noa shouldn't do at the airport, then that carried over to what she shouldn't do when she got to Montana to meet Bob. |

Well...I was a newbie and I substituted part of your username with the word MEAT. You set me straight. I guess I had caught you at a bad time. It was about the time that you were disagreeing with ERIK65 about something he said. I believe I stayed away from any topic you posted on for about a year.

Hi Molly, If you'd had the experience with Christina I've had then you'd have a very different opinion. She took a dislike to me for no real reason and kept it up throughout all of the time I was on that board, even though I attempted to be friendly quite a few times. Personally, I just think that she didn't 'get' my sense of humour. I'm generally a kind, sensitive person but I don't feel like extending any more understanding to her just because she's had problems in her life whilst growing up - a lot of us have had serious problems during our lives but we don't all act like a raving nutjob on an internet forum. I don't believe that she's a 'good' person, sorry. |

sigh.. sadly i would have to agree with you. Christina HATED me.. i am sure she still does... name calling, mean spirited... just all together MEAN to me. She got VERY mad at me when I posted a thing about the movie House of Wax.. i said it was an ok movie.. but the best part was watching Paris Hilton Die... she went off the deep end cause apparently she and Paris are friends or something... From there.. it turned into the fact that I was a fat, ugly, jealous person of Paris Hilton and that its no wonder i am still single.. (her words not mine).. I never did ANYTHING to her.. and try to be nice to EVERYONE i meet... in real life or on the net.... Thats just who I am... again.. i had the same problems with Noa.. not on the Macca board but the John lennon forum. She attacked me to NO end... so in love with herself.. and made sure that I knew how much she would just kill herself if she looked like me. in her words... being fat is worse then being anything else in the world.... she would rather be cripple, deaf, and blind before she would be fat. And i am just a lazy fat nobody... Sigh... So again.. I agree with Andy... we have ALL had it ruff..... some of us.. worse then others.. but that DOESNT make it ok to just be mean to people! or as he put so well.. "act like raving nutjobs"... |

I'm with Andy in that respect Anna - that makes me so furious!! You know you are an incredibly attractive, voluptuous woman (and I'm saying this with an unblemished record of heterosexuality) and any guy would be lucky to have you. It's Noa and Christina I feel sorry for.  |

Well, that's the problem with people like that saying cruel things - because they hurt badly. People can tell you to ignore them and be thick-skinned all they want, but it just doesn't work. Emotional cruelty is just as bad as physical cruelty and, I'm not being melodramatic, they can both kill. |

Molly, you are way too influenced by other people's opinions. No one is telling you to dislike Christina. If you like her, that's great! Just understand that some other people don't particularly like her. And I don't think Andy didn't attempt to like Christina - from the sounds of things, she didn't make herself too easy to like. |

It works the other way too Molly - just because she was nice to you doesn't mean she was that way with everyone. I have no particular issues with either Scrammbled eggs or Harleyblues because I seldom interacted with them. I'm very good at staying out of the kitchen. I come here and there for enjoyment not hassle.

I certainly agree with you Anna. Some people, in their minds like to believe if they had it rough or went through a bad time that it gives them a license to be mean and disgusting to others. I guess it helps them get through the day knowing that they dumped their sh*t on undeserving people who might in fact have feelings themselves. I pity them more. Don't let it get to you Anna. Never give them the satisfaction of knowing they hurt you. Don't let other's ignorance and insensitivity ruin it for the others who actually think you're a good person and think that you're a cool chik!! Why make them suffer? It will all come out in the wash in the end. Besides, I still like your 'Yummies'!!! |

I never said I hated Harley. I just avoid her. Eggs is now banned and I don't frequent the Lennon forum, so I have no contact with her. That is fine with me on both counts. Nutty and I used to go at each other, too, and look at us now. As for Tripping, I don't know what has happened to her on pm.com. All I know is she doesn't post there any more that I've noticed. I had enough run ins with her to last a lifetime, too. There is only one other person on pm.com I don't care for at all and I'm not naming names on that one. I haven't had issues with anybody else there--except some mods. Shannon, please come out and play with us.

I just want to make it perfectly clear that I do not hate Christina and I haven't said anywhere that I do... what I said is that Christina took an irrational dislike to me when we first 'met' and, despite my best efforts to build bridges, she has remained hostile ever since. I just don't like her - that's different to hating someone!

You're right, Andy. In my last thread I should have put "sarcasm alert" on what I was writing. I have my own brain, ya know. And I just think from my experience with Christina I never had any major issues with her, but that doesn't mean that she got annoying at times either. I just don't bad mouth people I have no issue with. |

O.K., next memory for me. . . . . . . . . there was a long, long thread posted by a guy named Adam Biro (from Canada, I think) who went to England, just to hang out by Paul's house in St. John's Wood, in hopes of seeing and meeting him. Long story short, this guy stood out on the sidewalk from daylight to dark, just watching the house. He mentioned that Heather, and then Paul, had both looked outside at various points in the day, and saw him standing there. Finally, late in the afternoon, Paul emerged to walk his dog. He passed by Adam, and acknowledged him, but kept walking. Adam didn't leave at this point, but continued his vigil, as he was hoping for an autograph or who know what else?? Later, after darkness had fallen, Paul returns to his house and is visibly miffed to see this guy still hanging around by the gate to his house. Paul finally says to the guy "What are you still doing here??" The guy tells him that he's flown all the way to England just to meet him. Paul tells him (I'm paraphrasing here) that he needs to leave and calls him a "f**king nutjob" and goes inside his house. This guy couldn't understand why Paul would call him that, said that it destroyed him, made him cry and he called Paul a jerk (and worse!!) for treating him that way!!!! This thread went on for at least 50 pages, with people trying to explain to him why Paul might have reacted this way (maybe John Lennon's murder by a guy who waited all day at the entrance to his home??). This poor guy never did admit that what he did was wrong!!!
Anyone else remember this?? |

Yep, I remember that story very well. Didn't he actually stay outside of Paul's house in his car for a very long time as well and if memory serves me right, wasn't he thinking of trying to ring the doorbell? I remember that guy going to England and Paul telling him that. I have to admit that I've spent hours outside MPL because I knew Paul was inside, but Mary told us we had to leave. I don't know if they called the cops or not, but shortly after we were told to leave, the bobbys arrived and said it wasn't safe to be there after dark and to please leave, so we did. I have been to Cavendish, but I don't think Paul was ever inside. I was there one with a tour group and we held up a guy to take a picture. My tour guide took me there in 2003 when I was in London for the four Earl's Court shows and left me because he thought I'd do something and get arrested! There were bodyguards out front, but I don't know if Paul and Heather were inside. I just walked around the block.I've also been to Rembrandt in Liverpool--once when Paul wasn't in town and I got to walk on the lawn and somewhere I have a pressed leaf. I also went there with a tour group and the bodyguards made our bus leave when Paul and Heather were coming home from LIPA. We were not allowed outside of the bus during that visit. Did that guy really do himself in over not getting Paul's autograph? He got to talk to him. What more did he want. |
