I always enjoyed this thread over at the Macca Board, so I thought I'd reinstate it here. She was originally Bill's baby, so I'll let him explain her:

"Bill one-and-a-half years ago at the Macca Board"

All you Nick Hornby/High Fidelity fans, this is for you.

A top 5 each day. You can only have 5 and your selections must comply to the topic, but they don't necessarily have to be in order.

Arguments over selections are encouraged in a civilised and incredibly well-informed manner.

^_^

Let's start with a standard one...

Round 1: TOP 5 ROCK ALBUMS
(Must be proper studio albums originally conceived as such, not "greatest hits" packages, compilations, or live albums.)

1. Abbey Road (The Beatles)
2. Led Zeppelin IV (Led Zeppelin)
3. Making Movies (Dire Straits)
4. Moondance (Van Morrison)
5. Band on the Run (Paul McCartney & Wings)

Top 5 rock albums:

Note - I can't be objective in including Beatles/solo Beatles albums, meaning, I don't feel comfortable including them with other acts, because they're so precious to me. They exist in a world of their own, thus, excluded from the list. I hope you understand.

1) Brian Wilson - Brian Wilson.
2) The Nightfly - Donald Fagen.
3) Two Against Nature - Steely Dan.
4) Smile - Brian Wilson.
5) Breakfast in America - Supertramp.

Top 5 Rock Albums

1. The Beatles - Abbey Road
2. Queen - A Night at the Opera
3. Rory Gallagher - Photo Finish
4. Genesis - Selling England by the Pound
5. Marillion - Marbles

I could make countless of these top fives.

So how does this work exactly? Will you start a new top 5 each day?

That's the idea, yeah. You can respond to as many or as few as you like, and response time isn't just limited to the day the Top 5 was posted.

I'm under the same umbrella as Gary in that I couldn't possibly make distinctions between the Beatles/Beatles Solo albums, so they are excluded from my list.

1. Bat Out Of Hell (Meatloaf)
2. Welcome To My Nightmare (Alice Cooper)
3. A Night At The Opera (Queen)
4. The Wall (Pink Floyd)
5. Bloodletting (Concrete Blonde)

Tony, it's just a little bit of humour on the Admin's part - R*lling St*nes being a dirty word on a Beatles Forum!! :D

Hey, are you playing the game or not? :P A legitimate call, however - I'll refrain from superfluous entries in the future. ;)
