1. When did you first hear Magical Mystery Tour? Approximately how old were you and was it the first Beatles album you'd heard?

I was about 12. I bought it from England together with Sgt. Pepper's.

2. What do you think about the album - Is it one of your favourites?

It has some of the most brilliant songs. What can I say?

3. If you care to, please rate the tracks out of 10 (1 being the lowest, 10 being the highest);

1. Magical Mystery Tour - 10
2. The Fool On The Hill - 10
3. Flying - 6
4. Blue Jay Way - 9
5. Your Mother Should Know - 10++++++++
6. I Am The Walrus - 10
7. Hello Goodbye - 10
8. Strawberry Fields Forever - 10++++++++++++++
9. Penny Lane - 10+++++
10. Baby You're A Rich Man - 9
11. All You Need Is Love - 10++++++++

4. Which is your favourite and least favourite track? Please give reasons!

Least favourite is Flying. Never cared much for it.
The favourites are kind of obvious.
Strawberry Fields Forever is my convenient answer whenever someone asks me what my favourite song ever is. I don't why I have chosen this one in particular, since I love so many songs, but it is definitely special for me.
All You Need is Love is, well, obvious.
I didn't know how beautiful Your Mother Should Know is until I played it on the guitar. Those chords are made in heaven, I'm telling you.

Thanks!

1. When did you first hear Magical Mystery Tour? Approximately how old were you and was it the first Beatles album you'd heard?

I think it was the first Beatles album I bought for myself, when I was 15 in 1990, but I'd heard quite a few Beatles albums before as my Dad had a small collection on vinyl. I bought it on cassette from HMV in Leicester along with Queen's A Kind Of Magic. I'm happy to say that it blew Queen out of the water. :P

2. What do you think about the album - Is it one of your favourites?

Yes, it's excellent - it contains the best Beatles single ever - Penny Lane/Strawberry Fields. I'm still annoyed that Englebert Humperdink's Please Release Me stopped The Beatles getting to number one in the UK! Some people have no taste. :P It's a classic. :D

3. If you care to, please rate the tracks out of 10 (1 being the lowest, 10 being the highest);

1. Magical Mystery Tour - 8
2. The Fool On The Hill - 10
3. Flying - 7
4. Blue Jay Way - 7
5. Your Mother Should Know - 9
6. I Am The Walrus - 10
7. Hello Goodbye - 10
8. Strawberry Fields Forever - 10
9. Penny Lane - 10
10. Baby You're A Rich Man - 8
11. All You Need Is Love - 10

4. Which is your favourite and least favourite track? Please give reasons!

My favourite is tied between I Am The Walrus, Strawberry Fields Forever, Penny Lane and All You Need Is Love - they're all simply wonderful and I can't decide between them. My least favourite on the album is either Flying which, from a songwriting point of view, is an exercise in laziness and Blue Jay Way which, although I like it, is a little bit dreary.

I'm a BIGGER Beatles fan than you and I'm an even BIGGER Wings fan than that...

1. When did you first hear Magical Mystery Tour? Approximately how old were you and was it the first Beatles album you'd heard?

I got this one in between "The Beatles" and "Sgt Pepper". Not a shabby bunch.

2. What do you think about the album - Is it one of your favourites?

This is easily one of their best albums. I can see why the film tanked, but this is a mighty impressive collection of songs.

3. If you care to, please rate the tracks out of 10 (1 being the lowest, 10 being the highest);

1. Magical Mystery Tour - Usually
2. The Fool On The Hill - Always
3. Flying - Usually
4. Blue Jay Way - Usually
5. Your Mother Should Know - Often
6. I Am The Walrus - Always
7. Hello Goodbye - Usually
8. Strawberry Fields Forever - Always
9. Penny Lane - Always
10. Baby You're A Rich Man - Often
11. All You Need Is Love - Always

4. Which is your favourite and least favourite track? Please give reasons!

"I Am The Walrus" is not only one of their best, but easily the best on this album. And that says a lot with these songs.

"Baby You're A Rich Man" is not a bad song, but compared with the others, it stands out unfavorably. On any other album it would score much higher.

1. When did you first hear Magical Mystery Tour? Approximately how old were you and was it the first Beatles album you'd heard?

It came out in 1967, so I would have bought it on vinyl in 1967. I was 16.

2. What do you think about the album - Is it one of your favourites?

It is actually one of my least favorite Beatles album.

3. If you care to, please rate the tracks out of 10 (1 being the lowest, 10 being the highest);

1. Magical Mystery Tour - 10
2. The Fool On The Hill - 10
3. Flying - 7

10. Baby You're A Rich Man - 5
11. All You Need Is Love - 9

4. Which is your favourite and least favourite track? Please give reasons!

My favorite track is Penny Lane. If it wasn't before, it became my favorite after visiting Penny Lane. Flying would be my least favorite.

1. When did you first hear Magical Mystery Tour? Approximately how old were you and was it the first Beatles album you'd heard?

This would've come right after SGT. PEPPER I'm thinking, so the spring of 2004. I was 13 at the time and remember coming home to get ready for a school band concert that evening to find it in the mail from Amazon. ^_^

2. What do you think about the album - Is it one of your favourites?

Well, if it weren't for the fact that I don't view at as a "true" album - it was a Capitol "quilt-job" as I call 'em, so it's more like a compilation in my eyes - it would be my second-favourite Beatles album and, consequently, have an easy spot in my Top 5 Albums Ever. Either way, it's one of the most tremendous bunch of tunes ever assembled. Especially that second half - my GOD. :wub:

3. If you care to, please rate the tracks out of 10 (1 being the lowest, 10 being the highest);

1. Magical Mystery Tour - 9/10 ( B )
2. The Fool On The Hill - 10/10 ( A+)
3. Flying - 8.5/10 ( C )
4. Blue Jay Way - 8.75/10 ( C+ )
5. Your Mother Should Know - 9/10 ( B )
6. I Am The Walrus - 11/10 ( A++ )
7. Hello Goodbye - 10/10 ( A+ )
8. Strawberry Fields Forever - 11/10 ( A++ )
9. Penny Lane - 11/10 ( A++ )
10. Baby You're A Rich Man - 9.5/10 ( A )
11. All You Need Is Love - 10/10 ( A+ )

4. Which is your favourite and least favourite track? Please give reasons!

Well, with such a phenomenal tracklist it's hard to play favourites, but I think the award may have to go what may quite possibly be ultimate fusion of art and pop, Penny Lane. Least favourite? As far as filler goes Flying is pretty cool and trippy, but filler nevertheless. ;) ^_^

Precisely why I put it there. Not because it's one of your favourite films, but because it's one of mine too. :P ^_^ I adore Woody Allen. :wub:

1. When did you first hear Magical Mystery Tour? Approximately how old were you and was it the first Beatles album you'd heard?

This was the first album I heard from the Beatles. My dad had a vinyl copy of this one. Unfortunately, he didn't take very good care of it, and he wrote M-I-K-E on the bodies of the four Beatles on the back cover, so it's not really very valuable. But the music fascinated me.

2. What do you think about the album - Is it one of your favourites?

My initial exposure to The Beatles was through the songs "Eleanor Rigby" and "A Day In The Life." At that time I didn't know who the artist was, or even the song titles. When I found out it was The Beatles, my mom told me about the Magical Mystery Tour album lurking around somewhere in a closet. I pulled it out and fell in love with the group.

Since then, having now heard all of their material, I would rank Revolver as their best album. But this one still rates near the top for me, and is the hands down sentimental favourite.

3. If you care to, please rate the tracks out of 10 (1 being the lowest, 10 being the highest);

1. Magical Mystery Tour -10
2. The Fool On The Hill -10
3. Flying -8

5. Your Mother Should Know -8
6. I Am The Walrus -10
7. Hello Goodbye -10
8. Strawberry Fields Forever -10
9. Penny Lane -10
10. Baby You're A Rich Man -9
11. All You Need Is Love -10

4. Which is your favourite and least favourite track? Please give reasons!

Hands down the best number on this collection is "I Am The Walrus." The Lewis Carroll-inspired lyrics are reflected perfectly in the music. I particularly like the nice touch of mixing in a live radio broadcast on the fade. "Strawberry Fields Forever" is a close favourite also.

My least favourite would have to be "Blue Jay Way," although I still enjoy it quite a bit, particularly the ending with the 'Please don't be long' chanting. Takes a bit too long to get to it, however.

In England, MMT was originally released as an EP comprised of songs from the film. This was side one of the U.S. release. In order to make a full length LP, the U.S. record company added the songs on side two, which were not originally on any other LP--they were single-only releases.
