Get it chopped off! I get like you and very tired of my hair and do something drastic. After all IT'S JUST HAIR! Nothing is permanent. It all grows out eventually. I think a short layered bob would look great on you. You'd like it for summer and you'd be surprised how much weight you have in your long hair. I'll look for a picture that I think will suit you and post it.

I used to have layers when i started growing my hair when i was 15. thing is with my hair its very thick and wirey (if you understand what i mean). you can sew leather together with a strand of my hair :(

btw - my hair is naturally curly - its amazing though what GHD straighteners can do :D

I have thick, naturally curly hair myself. I just recently got it chopped to about 1 inch below my shoulders. I also had them put layers in so the strands that come down on my face are actually about the same length as my ears. I love the new layering and it has helped so much with the heat.

I think you would look great with a shorter layered cut. If you are worried about cutting too much off, you can always do a few inches at a time and see how you like it.

I actually like my curls now, I just use some curl balm and moose to help control it and it really doesn't take much effort now to fix it when you need to go places.

Hey we sound like twins! My hair is naturally curly and wavy and it takes up to 6 hours to straighten! It is also very very thick. I had layers in mine about 4 weeks ago and i'm going to have it trimmed again before I get married at the end of July and have some more layers in it :)

BlueMeanie - you would laugh if I showed you a picture of me before and after I straightened it

Nat it cant be as bad as mine lol :) i bought myself a pair of GHD straighteners a couple of years ago and love them to bits. they are my best friend before going out :) thing is though of course they dont dry so recently i got a pair of them remington wet 2 straight - in a few words........ 'dont buy them!!!!!!!!!!!' luckily enough i got mine half price so i'm glad i never paid full whack for them.

when i was little apparently i was called 'shirley' after miss temple coz of my tiny curly locks  but once i had my hair cut - 'wham bam thank you mam' it just went thicker n thicker :(

btw Nat congrats on your forth coming wedding - you best show us all the pics on here :)

If your hair is thick and curly, welcome to my world! DON'T chop it off completely unless you intend to keep it short, because it is a sheer bitch to grow out (unless you like the Afro look).

My hair at the moment is layered and just below my shoulders, and Kit Kat is right, it does make so much more manageable and lighter.

Hi Nat :)

I have got to say my hair is worse than that when blown dried :o :( :( just like mine - its miles better when straightened. its a right pain in the ar** having to go over and over my hair to get it right (and slim n straight) :(

you have pictures on the photo thread of you with straight hair and 'bushy' hair - that is what i meant ;) it must be your hormones not remembering :) dont worry we are all like that (even if we are not pregnant lol)

I need to do something with mine, I'm in a rut and it looks terrible!

I have thick hair, it can be coarse and people tell me I have a bad tendancy to hide behind it. I just don't have the guts to go to get it styled anywhere! I've had some nightmarish experiences in the past (the "Orphan Annie" look was one! :o ) and now that I have to be out all the time around people, I don't have the luxury of hiding until it grows out.

Jayne, you're going to be my "role model", if you can do it, then maybe I can! I've been wanting to do this for a long time now, but I haven't been able to get up the nerve. I'd even spoken to a lady that runs a salon, she told me she'd do it for a reasonable price (it's in the building where I've been working), but it's just taking that final step that I find so intimidating...actually making the appointment!

The very best to you for tomorrow...I'm sure you're going to come out looking very pretty and wondering why you put it off for so long.

Now with me, I'm never satisfied until I can get home and play around with it until it looks like me again!

Anyhow, let us know how it goes, I'm anxious to find out! :)

:) Merry

Whenever I dislike my hair I just convince one of my friends to do something drastic with theirs. That way I can see the outcome without looking like an idiot myself.

I never considered the moose angle before. Unfortunately we do not have many of those in the city. Would it work as well with rats?

You look pretty, Jayne! :)

I don't see alot of difference though, no...but it look shorters and should be a little easier to manage now. I like the highlights, too.

You see, you're just like me, I did the same thing last year when I got a cut! I only had a small amount taken off and it basically didn't look much different at all! I didn't get very favorible "reviews", so I just thought, "To heck with it!", and it's been growing longer ever since, although I have chopped away at it a little since then. I still need a decent styling though, I don't want to meet anyone looking this bad! :hmm:

My hair seems to be the opposite of most people's here. It's super thin and completely strait. It doesn't hold curl at all, unless I use an awful lot of moose. Moose are pretty good at holding curls in, but they're also rather heavy....

Your colour looks lovely Jayne. :)

I have wild curly hair too but that's not the end of my troubles my hair is also very fine and flyaway. :o Most people think that is a contradiction in terms but believe me it's true. It is the worst combination ever no matter what I do it never looks good. It drives me crazy. I have to keep it pulled up in a ponytail for work so I just basically leave it like that but it would be nice to have another option I had a hairdresser a few years back who was able to keep it under control but not since. I wish I could find someone who can deal with it

I AM THE BIGGEST JOHN FAN!
Jayne your hair is lovely. Looks just like my oldest daughters. Hers isn`t as long but it is the same color. Her dad had bright red/orange hair when he was young and mine is brown. Her natural hair color is the same as a copper penny which I think is stunning and I am thrilled you have the same.
You say you want to save humanity but it`s people that you just can`t stand
John came to me in a dream and this is what he said. "I had a vision of a man on a flaming pie, and he told me that Betsy with a B not Lisa with a L is the biggest fan of mine". John trumps 'the boss' !

Nat - I got mine from an hairdresser I know. If you go on the GHD website you will pay exactly the same as you do in hairdressers (about £100 :o ) but if you know anyone who works in the hairdressing business - you can get them alot cheaper ;) tbh I wouldnt get a pair from ebay - some of the early makes had problems with the wiring. but in the end Nat, they are well worth it ;) which straighteners do you use now ?

thank you  I love being a red head

mine was naturally copper colour but because I take after my dad (he went grey by the age of 30) and now my hair is going totally grey :o :( :( :( :( so I have to dye it :(

but silly me went a tad too dark last year (long story :() and that is why i had highlights put into my hair to try and get back to its original colour.

Jayne, I just use some babyliss ones which are good not very expensive but they do the job until I get GHD's. I have a few people in the hairdressing profession so i'll ask around and get some hopefully cheap :)

Jayne, I just use some babyliss ones which are good not very expensive but they do the job until I get GHD's. I have a few people in the hairdressing profession so i'll ask around and get some hopefully cheap :)

Thanks for that hun. Now I have a hair buddy

PS Jayne, YOU LOOK FAB!!!!
