What the author describes as cognitive dissonance, is what I believe prompted Paul and Linda McCartney to go vegetarian. I believe he said they were looking out their window admiring their pet sheep or lamb while eating a meat dinner. While I appreciate technology and some of it's advancements, I'm not too sure about growing meat. But I do subsribe to the notion that traditions or customs seem normal until we're ready to ethically move beyond them. |

I don't know... growing meat? It's all a little creepy to me.

I agree. But so did organ transplants once. It's a bit "out there" but it could be the best of both worlds. |

If it was a solution to world hunger then I'd support it wholeheartedly. |

I would too, except that with all the wheat and rice and other abundant crops available worldwide, hunger is still prevalent in many places. So I don't know that it would help much.

I have to agree. Perverse as it may seem, lack of food is not a cause of hunger. All famines are political. |

Interesting article thanks for posting it. I like the bit about: 'pigeons deceive each other'. |

I don't eat meat, but growing it in a lab sounds a little strange. There was a time when there was no such thing as organ transplants and people just died. Now they do organ transplants. I probably wouldn't eat it. I'm so used to being veggie now that there's no going back. And, Barb, yes, Paul and Linda say they went veggie after watching some of their lambs out their window at their home in Scotland. On my first visit to London, we took a cruise down the Thames. Guess what they served for lunch? Yes, lamb and I couldn't eat it. |
