Lovely pictures Molly they are fab :yahoo:

Do you find the Nikon easy to use? xxxxxxx
Actually, yes, Nat. It's a "point and shoot" camera. Also, my Mom set the camera to settings that would make it easier for me.

'Close' is such a relative term! I am a mere 3000 miles away and have a perfectly good Olympus just going to waste... :giggle:

You should consider scheduling a stopover in the 'middle of nowhere' as it's really quite lovely this time of year and I will be waiting at the airport for you in my four-year-old Camry... :(

molly, i have to comment, your neighborhood looks kind of like where i used to live in Chicago! old time neighborhood. i don't miss chicago but i have to admit, i felt like i'd been in your area before when i looked at those pix.

Tempty, yeah, it's a nice neighborhood. There are several families with young children down it, and I know a few of them. It's a really nice place. It feels like it shouldn't be in a city.
And Nat, I wish you lived closer to me. I know we'd have fun. :D

I know this isn't the best but I had already been caught taking video on my phone so had to sneak this from up fairly high.

Ringo Starr, with Zak and Klaus Voorman (down at the lower left) coming out onstage for the finale of With a Little Help from My Friends (Son!)/Give Peace a Chance.

To everyone,

I love to see all of your photos, whether it is of yourself, of your family, your kids, landscapes, artistic shots... anything.

This is the Photo Thread and, provided we don't post anything that wouldn't be appropriate for 'family viewing', anything goes.

If people don't get individual comments, it doesn't mean that people haven't enjoyed them. There are far too many photos here for me each time I open this thread to comment on individually, but it doesn't mean that I don't appreciate them. I think that probably goes for many people.

Andy. :)

You know sometimes we end up posting so many photos it's easy to miss individual ones along the way, so I'm sorry too for any I happen to miss commenting on.

Nat, Rose and Dot thanks for your nice comments on my dino photo. It's a toss-up on which is more fierce, Grace or the T-rex.

Linda, your niece and nephew are very cute, but I really liked the photo of you and your grandmom. It's an excellent photo of you particularly.

Holly thank you for your photos -- you are so cute. :)

Clare, what can I say except that Charlotte is so pretty and her cake was impressive -- did you do it? It's like every 5-year-old girl's dream come true!

Andy, yes I am told that I resemble my father's side of the family and that is my father's mother. We all have the same nose. :P Several of the cousins have the same nose.

My poor grandmother had no idea of what that balloon was all about. Whoever gave it to her, didn't tell her that it had a weight on it and she could set it down. She held on to that balloon the entire day. She was so happy that day and two months later, she had a stroke and was gone.

I've always liked that picture and wished I still looked like I did in 1989. :P

I thought the same thing, Irene! We put the camera on a post and set the timer so it ended up too far away. It was very green and lush there, a beautiful place.

I'll post one of the other pictures which is hopefully clearer!

i thought maybe that pic was in brasil from the colorfulness of it. what a culture shock for you to move to the U.S. i know how close you and your mom are so can imagine how hard it is to be so far away. do you speak on the computer with her? would your hubby consider relocating?

i thought maybe that pic was in brasil from the colorfulness of it. what a culture shock for you to move to the U.S. i know how close you and your mom are so can imagine how hard it is to be so far away. do you speak on the computer with her? would your hubby consider relocating?
It's a cultural shock indeed, too many Mexicans here and they speak Spanish all the time and ask me questions and when I tell them I don't speak Spanish they make a BAAAAD face. I like their food, I have nothing against Mexicans but I don't fit here. We live here because of my husband's parents. I can't tell him to leave his parents, they are old and they need him. His mother is German, she doesn't like Texas but his dad was born in Texas, you know, he is so proud of Texas. He told me Texas used to be part of Mexico and they won't learn English because it is their territory and he is American-Irish...I can't understand...Acre state in Brazil used to be Bolivian territory now it is Brazilian and people speak Portuguese. :-/

I met a French girl here and she couldn't find a job because she didn't speak Spanish, only English and French.

We tried to live in Brasil, but he doesn't speak Portuguese and he didn't want to learn, too difficult he said. And he was so flirty and charming in Brasil, I didn't like so much. We went to Salvador and he was not ashamed to flirt with the waitress, IN FRONT OF ME, LOL. I didn't care so much because in Salvador, Bahia, there are soooooooooooooo many tourists specially from Netherlands, it's like heaven, I was busy too. :giggle:

My mother misses me and I miss her, we talk on the computer, skype, almost everyday.

What I miss about Brazil is Sao Paulo, all those bakeries full of fresh food and different breads. I used to wake up hungry sometimes at 2 AM and call a Pizzaria and order pizza and in 40 minutes the motoboy was knocking on my door. In Sao Paulo, everything is urgent and fast and it's 24 hours food delivery. I miss pastel de feira, Habib's, caldo de cana, but there are many good things about United States too and I like to live here, maybe I should move to another city. Somewhere in New York would be ok. Maybe I will go back to Brasil, I don't know, I'm going to visit my mother, maybe I return, maybe not. :)

here's my granddaughter's 3rd birthday pix...chyanne's birthday was Sept. 7.
What an excellent time to have a birthday. It means she shares it with a brilliant, bespectacled, dark-haired genius.

..... I refer, of course, to Buddy Holly. B)

oh my, michelle, que saudades!!!

sorry to hear it. didn't your hubby pick up any portuguese while there? i know he was there for some time. as you know, i LOVE the portuguese language and can't imagine him not liking being there but that's me. i mean, texas is pretty hot and humid, too. i can't take high temps (like in the 90s and i know brasil has that alot). sometimes my carioca would tell me he'd freeze to death in the U.S. he thought 90s was COOL!

Muitas saudades!!! :sweet:

My husband learned some words in Portuguese. Bunda, caipirinha, pao de queijo, churrasco, guarana, lol.

For a carioca 90F is ok, for a paulista like me, it's like closer to hell because Sao Paulo and Rio have different climate. Rio is tropical, Sao Paulo and the South of Brasil are subtropical/temperate. It doesn't get hotter than 86F when it's summer and it is very breezy.

Your gaucho would feel ok about US winter, because it gets COOOOOLD in Rio Grande do Sul that's why they drink chimarrao, lol.

I think you prefer your carioca. He is more passionate and romantic than your gaucho, I bet! B)

I'm going to visit in December and I will probably return in February or late January because I have to go 2 different countries after and I can't spend so much money in Brazil. I will go to Florianopolis visit my sister, and after Porto Alegre. I have one American friend and he is dating a gaucha and he is there, doesn't want to return, I'm going to visit him and meet her. She is a friend of a gaucho I dated and this gaucho is a friend of my friend, and my friend met this gaucha because I showed his music to this guy I dated and he showed to her and gave her my friend msn. small world. My ex gaucho lives in Florianopolis where my sister lives. He used to live in Sao Paulo. I hope not to see him. Oh yes, some guys like Brasileiras bundas, sad, LOL.

You should go with me...

Thanks for that, Lisa. :)

Here I am with 3 month old Miss Marlie. This was taken with a disposable camera so it had some weird shadows but not too bad. ^_^

This is a box of Treeing Walker Coonhound pups that my Mom took back in 1983. The one with the "brown eyebrows" and her head to the side was my dog, Cheetah. She and her sibs were my next door neighbor's. They had two Treeing Walker Coonhounds. Cheetah was a purebred.
