HOT DAMN!!!! 106 is the worst it got here so far.

We need the rain that makes it humid, although I don't want that rain. Our tomato crop died, we tried to keep them watered, but no luck.

yup anna.. i heard a funny one last night ;)

An Irishman walks into a bar in Dublin, orders three pints of Guinness and sits in the back of the room, drinking a sip out of each one in turn. When he finishes them, he comes back to the bar and orders three more. The bartender asks him, "You know, a pint goes flat after I draw it; it would taste better if you bought one at a time." The Irishman replies, "Well, you see, I have two brothers. One is in America, the other in Australia, and I'm here in Dublin. When we all left home, we promised that we'd drink this way to remember the days when we drank together." The bartender admits that this is a nice custom, and leaves it there.

The Irishman becomes a regular in the bar, and always drinks the same way: ordering three pints and drinking them in turn. One day, he comes in and orders two pints. All the other regulars notice and fall silent. When he comes back to the bar for the second round, the bartender says, "I don't want to intrude on your grief, but I wanted to offer my condolences on your great loss." The Irishman looks confused for a moment, then a light dawns in his eye and he laughs. "Oh, no," he says, "Everyone's fine. I've just quit drinking."

:D Good one!

Hey Anna, I'm around - I've just been cooking & eating dinner and watching movies. Brazil is on right now.

Alcohol can make you more prone to illness, you know - it destroys your natural defenses because they're fighting against the liquor, which is basically a poison. :hmm:

Newly issued alcohol warnings
The Toronto Board of Health has proposed that warning signs be placed on all alcohol bottles to tip off drinkers about the possible peril of drinking a pint or two of any alcoholic beverage.

1. WARNING: Consumption of alcohol may cause you to wake up with a breath that could knock a buzzard off a wreaking dead animal that is one hundred yards away.

2. WARNING: Consumption of alcohol is a major factor in dancing like an idiot.

3. WARNING: Consumption of alcohol may cause you to tell the same boring story over and over again until your friends want to assault you

4. WARNING: Consumption of alcohol may cause you to thay shings like thish.

5. WARNING: Consumption of alcohol may cause you to tell the boss what you really think of him.

6. WARNING: Consumption of alcohol is the leading cause of inexplicable rug burn on the forehead.

7. WARNING: Consumption of alcohol may create the illusion that you are tougher, handsomer and smarter than some really, really big guy named Psycho Bob.

:D Very good!

Seriously though Anna, please look after yourself... I went through a long phase of drowning my sorrows quite a few years ago and they were the worst years of my life... the amount of things I did which were regrettable or unadvisable, well, you wouldn't believe.

Social drinking can be fun... as long as you're not social every night. ;)

I am being careful... but the same f*cking thorn in my life keeps poking just when i thought it was gone. Sigh...

The pain is starting to become unbearable.

ok.. another joke then...

The bartender asks the guy sitting at the bar, "What'll you have?" The guy answers, "A scotch, please." The bartender hands him the drink, and says "That'll be five dollars," to which the guy replies, "What are you talking about? I don't owe you anything for this."

A lawyer, sitting nearby and overhearing the conversation, then says to the bartender, "You know, he's got you there. In the original offer, which constitutes a binding contract upon acceptance, there was no stipulation of remuneration."

The bartender was not impressed, but says to the guy, "Okay, you beat me for a drink. But don't ever let me catch you in here again."

The next day, same guy walks into the bar. Bartender says, "What the heck are you doing in here? I can't believe you've got the audacity to come back!"

The guy says, "What are you talking about? I've never been in this place in my life!" The bartender replies, "I'm very sorry, but this is uncanny. You must have a double."

To which the guy replies, "Thank you. Make it a scotch."

Anna, you really have to slow your drinking down!

Let me ask you this, and I don't mean to be intrusive about the situtation, but have you thought of seeing someone, like a therapist, to help you through this time? I know it is painful losing someone, but drinking just doesn't fill that void, so when I was in that situtation in my life, I chosed talking to someone after finding out the bottle wasn't a comfort but an enemy. Trust me, you will feel so much better after you get all of those pent up emotions out and a little help onto the right path.

i have thought about seeking professional help.. i used to when I was younger... I was made to see one after an almost successful attempt at ending my life when i was 14. I was pretty much dead, and was brought back to life.. sadly.

Right now.. my insurance will pay for 3 visits to the psyc... THREE.. i wouldnt even begin to scratch the surface of what is killing me. And most places are around $100 dollars a visit.. just not the kind of money i have laying around.

Sigh.. so I plod a long.. most days.. i do ok. I am a strong person... I have been through enough sh*t that would just kill most people... but yes.. somedays I get scared.. aftraid that i wont be strong anymore...

A man walks into a bar and asks the bartender, "If I show you a really good trick, will you give me a free drink?" The bartender considers it, then agrees. The man reaches into his pocket and pulls out a tiny rat. He reaches into his other pocket and pulls out a tiny piano. The rat stretches, cracks his knuckles, and proceeds to play the blues.

After the man finished his drink, he asked the bartender, "If I show you an even better trick, will you give me free drinks for the rest of the evening?" The bartender agrees, thinking that no trick could possibly be better than the first. The man reaches into his pocket and pulls out a tiny rat. He reaches into his other pocket and pulls out a tiny piano. The rat stretches, cracks his knuckles, and proceeds to play the blues. The man reaches into another pocket and pulls out a small bullfrog, who begins to sing along with the rat's music.

While the man is enjoying his beverages, a stranger confronts him and offers him $100,000.00 for the bullfrog. "Sorry," the man replies, "he's not for sale." The stranger increases the offer to $250,000.00 cash up front. "No," he insists, "he's not for sale." The stranger again increases the offer, this time to $500,000.00 cash. The man finally agrees, and turns the frog over to the stranger in exchange for the money.

"Are you insane?" the bartender demanded. "That frog could have been worth millions to you, and you let him go for a mere $500,000!" "Don't worry about it." the man answered. "The frog was really nothing special. You see, the rat's a ventriloquist."

It's good that you did see one. Life can be great, but you just have stop looking at the bad. I tell the same to my friend, but sadly she is a drama queen and refuses to deal with anything good. I believe Anna, you get through this. Just think what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, tougher, and wiser. Don't curl up this any longer because it will kill you and we don't want to lose you!

yeah sometimes and that's why you gotta keep fighting, because you show everyone that you are being defeated and no one wants that. We just don't want to lose you Anna, you're too sweet and wonderful to leave this world. I think the guy upstairs isn't ready for you to come up there either, so just keep fighting!

Anna, I hope you forgive me for sticking my head in when I don't know you very well, but I have been exactly where you are now, and I almost wound up dead because a man left me. He was so not worth all the aggrevation he gave me, but dammit I still love him after all these years...

If you feel you need a therapist, go, even if its just for the three visits because you can get hooked up with antidepressants and insurance should pay for most of those, and they can truly help. Also, if you can't afford a therapist, some states will provide sliding scale therapy from county-run mental health clinics. Also there may well be some free support groups around if you look or the therapist might be able to point you in the right direction.

Just a thought. Please take care of yourself. You're worth it.

A guy says to the barman, "I bet you $100 I could p*ss into that beer glass at the end of the bar from here."

The barman says, "You're on," and stands back while the guy flops it out and proceeds to urinate all over the bar. Not a drop goes anywhere near the glass.

As the barman pockets his $100 he asks, "Why would you make such a stupid bet? You didn't even come close!"

"Because," the man replied, "I just bet that guy in the corner there $1000 that you'd let me p*ss all over your bar."

Grandma's in the hospital. She fell and broke her femur Saturday morning, they had to fly her by helicopter to the hospital about an hour from here. She'll probably be there at least til Wednesday. Then she'll have to come to the local hospital and stay there for about a week for rehab, then she MIGHT get to come home. I heard she might not walk again. Things just keep getting rougher and rougher for me.

Once they got that hard board out from under her that they were supporting her with, she was ALOT better. They've already helped her stand up, so I'm assuming that's a good sign she might be able to walk again. It's just.....weird not having her around. And she's an hour away. That's hell on us with gas prices the way they are. But we'll manage.

Keep asking those questions. Doctors and nurses are human, after all, and can make mistakes. It's always good to get involved with the care of your loved one. I'm speaking from first-hand experience.

I hope your grandma is on the mend soon!! She's very lucky to have a grandson who is still involved in her life. So many older people are left alone or ignored. Thank goodness your grandma has you. :) :)

Hey everyone. How are ya?

More importantly, how are you and your Grandmother doing? I sure hope she's feeling better.

I'm a nervous wreck. She's not eating much of anything. Stuff just don't taste right to her. That, and she says she's having trouble swallowing. And it's hard to say anything to a doctor, cuz they only come around once a day.

tired- working long days and the air went out at work last night- it got real hot real fast- I hope it is fixed today! Couldn't wait to get home and turn on the air at home!

Very humid, storms here and there-

sigh- I'm tired of my life.

At least your A/C works at home. Ours needs to be cleaned. And my A/C doesn't work in my car. It's hell with leather seats when it's 105 degrees outside.

REAL good. I was wondering about those clock in cards one day. It'd be awful easy for someone to take your card and clock you in or out when you weren't supposed to. Unless there's something about it I just don't get.

There are lots of places who still use clock cards and, yes, it's easy to get someone to clock you in and/or out - but most employers threaten to sack anyone caught doing this, so there's usually a major deterrent in place.

Within a few years, it'll be fingerprint scanners, iris scanners & biometric checks so no-one will be able to clock anyone in or out for them - in fact, some high-class places already do this. Actually, there are some schools doing fingerprint scans for pupils to register their attendance in the UK right now.

Where I work right now, it's very LOW tech, we simply sign-in on a sheet. Since we are pretty much under scrutiny anyway, it'd be hard to fake it.

I've used time cards too, though. What I didn't care about those was that they used our social security numbers for our ID numbers, and with all the identify theft going on in this country, that can be quite detrimental.

Is the headache behind the right eye? It sounds like some of the really bad ones I get sometimes. Hope you get to feeling better soon.

That doesn't sound good at all! Maybe you have migraines, or allergies? I hope you get to a doctor soon! The sooner, the better.

Good advice. And, as simplistic as this sounds, don't forget to drink lots of water. Doctors say that many headaches are a direct result of inadequate fluid intake. ;)

I know how hot it gets where you live -- that's my home state. :)

I get headaches almost every day as well...but most of it is caused by my TMJ...I clench my jaw and get horrible headaches. Maybe that is what you have, too...
