I posted in the 9/11 thread as well, what a douchebag. I think everyone had nice posts, I didn't see any grounds for a warning or a ban.

I might see the movie, I don't think it makes me a bad American, I think it gives a fresh perspective on the day and it's 100% accurate since the 2 firefighters consulted with Oliver Stone throughout filming. I have no issue with it being made or shown. "United 93" was a different story because parts of that movie were made up.

I'm not sure if I want to see the movie. Nothing to do with politics or ethical reasons. . . . . . it's just that I don't think I'm ready to confront all the emotions that reliving 9/11 is sure to evoke. :(

I couldn't see Flight 93 (is that the correct title??) for the same reason. :(

I'm with you Bev. No matter how good the movie might be, to me, it just isn't necessary and I can't imagine how victim's families would feel. A documentary or memorial type special is one thing, but I can't support this effort.

Well, I thought United 93 was very good and very powerful. This Twin Towers film looks more 'hollywood' though I still may consider seeing it. I don't know if you're aware of this but many of the people in United 93 played themselves. Obviously not those in the plane, but those in the control rooms and the military men and women involved from the ground. Apparently the families were also in favor of it. I think that's a good sign.

That is a good sign - that the families approved the one movie. I wonder if many of them approved of or knew about the making of the film?

Maybe it was a cathartic experience for them and could've even been suggested by counselors as a step on the road to healing. I applaud their strength and courage for being able to do that. I must admit my shortcomings as a weak human being here and say that I don't think I would be able to do that, were I standing in their shoes. -_-

I must admit that I get shivers down my spine whenever I see clips of the crashes so I did worry what effect the movie might have on me, but it was a very unique perspective and I was captivated. Wouldn't say it's one of my favorite movies but you might be surprised. ;)

have they been edited i see nothing to get worried about. you must remember that it is Oliver the great who disappeared for a while some time ago. now ollie as i call him has one aim in life to p*ss off everyone but mostly americans. he tired on the brits twice but i hit him with historical facts and he left us out of it. but i am sorry in that there was a resembalance of truth in what he was either trying to say or other people's interpertation of what he was trying to say. the further away you are physically or emotionally the less you care about an historical event. because that's what it becomes the next day an historical event.

me i dont like oliie stone movies i am sorry they are just a load of crap he's gotta be a smack head, i dont like nickolas cage acting always seems to me he had been taught by cmdr ryker school of acting but that's really by the by i am not boostering the bottom line of some f*cking corporation.

Oliver Stone cast the rescuers and volunteers that were there on 9/11 and the 2 firefighters were consultants so "World Trade Center" is 100% accurate. Nothing in the movie is made up, which I find to be a good sign.

Sorry for going off topic, but I'm just wondering why Heather's website still has a lead to link on paulmccartney.com? I was there earlier today, and was surprised to still see it there.

I would have thought Paul would have taken that link off by now~just curious. ;)

The way things are, it reminds me of "The War Of The Roses"!

I doubt that Paul or Heather have been in the mood to go on the net.

True~I was just thinking he would have his "people" remove it from the website.
He is cutting her out of all aspects of his life, I was just thinking out loud, I guess.

I've said this before~I'm glad Paul is showing some *alls about this whole mess~he's calling the shots, finally.

I understood that there is a link on Heather's website to Paul's website.

I see there is still a link to Heather's site on pm.com, as well as to Adopt A Minefield.

I would guess it would be updated in due time. Paul has more important things to think about right now than a website where fans send him crazy messages.

Yesterday, mod martin did delet lots of remarks on Paul and Heather's marriage crisis. I know that he doesn't understand Dutch, he is a fool. I do think that martin did get help in translating the remarks.

Now it is thread that is not intersting for me. The whole pm is at this moment boring.

perhaps that is cuz were all once faithful fans and daily posters on the pm site and in a way do miss it. but we miss the way it used to be not the way it has changed and become now.
when i initially started posting there, it wasnt as monitored, things werent banned, people werent warned and we could talk much more freely.
these days it is difficult to speak freely but we all still hold a special place

maybe i should change all those we's to me cuz i can only speak for myself

Audrey, I wasn't being critical. It is just an observation.

I understand and agree about how maccaboard have change since 2002. Some said it change for the best, other said it change for worst... Some said it is evolution... Well, I think people change too. I miss so many boardies I use to read on macca. They disappear. Anyway it is right that it is not fun as it use to be. And it is right that we feel welcome and respect here.

I AM THE BIGGEST JOHN FAN!
I agree with Audrey. Compared to the rest of you I was a relative newcomer to the board. I joined just a little over a year and a half ago, so that I could keep up with the tour. I was shy about posting at first and mainly lurked, but once I stuck my toe in the water I found I liked it very much. I made a lot of good friends and learned a lot by looking at things from someone elses point of view.

Suddenly it seems as though they suffered a severe sense of humor drought over there and some were allowed to be naughty unruly kids and others were held to standards that were demanding, arbitrary and unfair.

I still go there and read and occasionally post, because it is still Pauls official board and I want to belong. When I want to have a good time with people of taste, intelligence and a sense of reason this is where I come.

Betsy did get an earful this weekend--probably more than she ever wanted to know about some of what has gone on at pm.com.

I want to belong to Paul's official forum just in case he tours again and there are pre-sale passwords again.

I also yearn for the good ol' days and really don't find many threads to post in.

That is pretty much the way I feel about posting on the main board.

I think Martin should definitely be kicked out as a mod, but I also thing there should be a complete regime change with the moderators and an entire new team brought on board. The mods have been doing it for too long and have totally lost perspective as to what is good for the board.

Can I say something positive here? ^_^

When I first signed up for the Macca board just over two years ago, the internet - at that point - was this huge electronic wasteland full of strangers. I had been in internet chatrooms on MSN, but had found them to be quite a negative experience with lots of people who just wanted either to insult you, to be completely snobby & elitist about music or, predictably, wanted to hook up or have cyber-sex. I wasn't interested in any of those things and found myself being less interested in the internet the more time I spent on there.

Then I discovered pm.com and it's forum. Within a few days of joining, cracking a few jokes & making a few initial 'friends', I quickly came to realise that this place was different. It was very difficult to break into the board for a couple of months because there seemed to be so many very close friendships and relationships which had obviously been formed over quite a long time. Still, I guess some people found me interesting because a few started to talk me and include me in their conversations, which was nice. I met so many great people there and felt like I was part of the community after only a couple of months, running my own 'tenuous links' thread and being one of the more regular posters there.

The run-ins with people were few and far between and I soon met a remarkable, gorgeous young Californian lady called Fiona with whom I became good friends and then became very close indeed (I wonder what happened to her? ^_^ ). It was only in 2005 when things, on the board, seemed to turn a little sour. The political discussions turned nasty quickly, there were many people who seemed to have disagreements with each other which ran deep... did the forum actually change in that way in 2005, or did I only just start to notice them then? The problem, since then, was that - there are always nuts and kooks on the internet, but it seemed to be the regular people, the good guys, who would get the moderator action, for speaking their minds against unfair treatment or unfair practices or got the warnings for reacting against the people who would spout hate & bile at every chance. Had that always been the case? I didn't think so.

The longer that Strawberry Fields is open, the more I realise that the Macca forum did change, because here - in a different way - we have seen a return to the 'good old days' where we've formed a decent community without the dangerous undercurrents that destabilised and made the Macca board a sometimes uncomfortable place. I hope it stays that way - we'll certainly do our best to ensure that it remains a place we can all speak our minds and enjoy our time together without feeling persecuted. I also hope that anyone who feels as if they have a problem can come to the admin/mod team, so that we can help sort things out before they escalate. There's no way I want to see what happened on the Macca board happen here.

Thanks everyone for being here and for your positive, supportive messages about this forum - they are always appreciated. :)

I didn't really notice the changes until early 2006. I don't know if things started changing in 2005 or not.

I know what you mean about the friendships formed over there. I have many friends that I have made since 2002 and I have not been able to convince all of them to join this forum. I was there before 2002, but the board crashed and they gave us all the same join date when it came back up. I was there for the old Wingspan board, too.

I was never much for chat and after some unwanted passes when I was on MSN messenger, I have now removed all messengers from my computer and will not participate in such chats. I've never been in a chat room, so I don't know what that is like.

I think Andy and Fiona's meeting on pm.com is probably the most romantic thing that I know of that happened there.

I came across some kooks over there, but I mostly made good friends. It's the mods I have the most problems with and I just don't see much of interest there any more. I find it sad, but I sure am enjoying this board.

One thing I don't miss about the Paul forum is;

You cannot make another post so soon after your last; please try again in a short while. :P

Really? :D The 'flood control' is set for a very low 20 seconds here, just so any automated 'spam-bot' is foiled. The Macca board's was more like a minute.

I'll try altering it to 15 seconds & perhaps you'll get less messages. We want to eliminate the 'flood control' messages all together for members but still offer protection against the spammers so hopefully that will do it. :)

If they would kick Martin as mod there I bet things would be a lot different.

Martin never had to send me any pm's or warnings.

I have to agree with Molly, Paul's site started going downhill when he became a mod. It was almost like the Nazi Gestapho moved in and clamped down on anything that was fun. No adult ever wants to be scolded like a child.

I still visit the site from time to time, but the good ol' days are gone. I just wish he could have heeded to the words of Sir Paul's song "Freedom."

I like how it works on this board better...and although I still get the 'flood' message at times...its not nearly as irritating as it was on the PM board.

Hear Hear! Betsy and Audrey.

I'll never stop going there totally but I go less and less frequently nowadays. When I do go I mostly just read 'cos there is not much I want to talk about over there anymore... though I can't help feeling nostalgic for the good old days. :(

As long as there is a pm.com, I will belong to the forum, but I just don't find many threads or people of interest there any more. Most have come here and I think one of my friends is coming here. Come on, if you are reading this. We won't bite. ;)

Betsy did get an earful this weekend--probably more than she ever wanted to know about some of what has gone on at pm.com.

I want to belong to Paul's official forum just in case he tours again and there are pre-sale passwords again.

I also yearn for the good ol' days and really don't find many threads to post in.

Me neither which is sad especially considering how long we've all been there whether it was 2 mos, 2 years, or since the beginning we all had a stake in something that was very nice. Something that gave us hours of good fun, laughter, frustration, and sadness. I will still belong but not much in the way of posting.

I been with paul from the beginng. i will always remain there intill there is no more Paul board...No, matter how bored I get. And, That's been alot lately..Also, i will come here too. :D

Hey, I always try to talk to new people.. :innocent:  :D

Martin does need to get a grip. He has been on a power trip ever since he became a mod.

I just went through six pages of threads there and looked in one. It's one person posting about LOVE. I asked her last night where she was getting the articles and all she said was on the 'net. Duh! I knew that, but she isn't give the source of any of them. Her thread is now up to 28 pages.

I have found on the flood control, I can hit back and what I had typed in is still there.

Are they still mod editing like crazy over there? I don't read it enough to know.

The bottom line for me is that I know that I can come here and engage in discussions (some controversial, some not) and as long as it remains relatively civil I don't have to fear being booted. Lord knows that many of my opinons are much different not only then JLB but of many on the board. That doesn't make me a bad guy, it makes me a person with different opinions which is a good thing for the board. I participate in many threads other then the controversial ones and I look forward to coming here every day.

For God's sake, I was booted from the McCartney board by Martin for posting this picture of Bernadette Peters in the Celebrity Crush thread because it was a picture of her when she was on the cover of Playboy magazine....good grief.

Because animal rights is Paul's pet project (no pun intended) and rightly so, anything on that topic ends up being a free for all, but whenever passions are arounsed of something else, the tell us "Oh, this is a musician's forum - take politics where it belongs."

It wouldn't be so bad if they weren't so utterly oblivious to the contradiction.

Exactly

That is ridiculous. Some of the avatars over there and here show lots more skin than that. Martin has let power go to his head.

I really like Sarah F, too. When I have had problems there, she is the only one who seemed to care. She would take the time to answer me--even if it wasn't the answer I wanted to hear. She did take action on something I reported and it only took her about 5 minutes to get back to me on that one. I miss her and hope she does come back.

I will always be a member there--unless they ban me.

The old this is a musician's official board excuse got really old for me. They have let things get way out of hand in the seal thread. Yes, it is a pet project of Paul--at least we think it is. Was it his project or Heather's project? They let the Canadians who came on the forum after the Larry King show say anything. They were allowed to break every rule of that board and they are still there.

Yes it is, Manon...but no one is allowerd to broach the subject...any threads relating to the divorce are deleted. They seem to want to have people bury their heads in the sand and pretend it hasn't happened.

I agree with everyone about SarahF...she's a very kind lady and the only mod that actually lived up to her promises and genuinely tried to help. I heard she had surgery recently...I hope all is well and that she'll be back soon!

It is sad to see Macca board so desert, with not much activity when it is a time when Paul need so much love. :hmm:

Not for nothin' but Paul NEVER posts on his own board. If you look at the name Paul McCartney (reserved for Paul obviously) it has either 0 or 1 post and that's pathetic. What would it take for him to log onto his computer every once in a while and surprise his fans with impromptu chat.

King, if Paul were to do that, the forum would be flooded with people all trying to vie for his attention.

I think he HAS been "around" in the past, but more than likely at this time, he isn't interested very much in what his fans have to say. He has alot on his mind, what with the divorce and all.

I doubt that he's aware of what the forum has become though and the way the mods have censored it with such a heavy hand.

He could come on the board unannounced and chat for a few moments with his fans. He just chooses not to.

Who's to say he doesn't post. If he does, I doubt he would use the same username. Like Merry said, the site would crash if his username (thats if he does post) became known.

Does anyone of you actually believe that Paul posts on his board? I don't believe it, not for one second.

I'm not saying he does, I was just responding to you questioning why he doesn't post and that he should.

I know which person you mean: Nelly. And yes I'm sick why the mods don't locked her thread.
