Rihanna and Plan B lead charts race
11:31 | Wednesday January 5, 2011
Source: MW
By Ben Cardew

Singles

Meanwhile on singles, Rihanna featuring Drake’s What’s My Name(Def Jam) looks likely to continue its steady climb to the top of the charts, after a couple of weeks at two behind Matt Cardle’s When We Collide (Syco).

However, it could be a close run thing: What’s My Name currently has a lead of only around 1,000 copies over When We Collide.

As with albums, there are few new releases at this time of the year, although Nero’s Me And You (MTA) and White Lies’ Bigger Than Us (Fiction) should both debut in the top 40.

Albums

The January sales are set to send a number of 2010 albums climbing back up the charts, while Rihanna’s What’s My Name could finally be on its way to number one in the singles rundown.

Plan B’s The Defamation of Strickland Banks (679 / Atlantic), which climbed sharply last week after being discounted to as little as £3, currently has the edge on the albums chart, ahead of Rihanna’s fifth album Loud.

In a week of few new album releases, Cee-Lo Green’s The Lady Killer (Warner Bros) looks set to climb back into the top ten, as should Rumer’s Atlantic album Seasons Of My Soul and Eliza Doolittle’s eponymous debut (Parlophone).
