Kings of Leon off to flying start
11:16 | Tuesday October 19, 2010
Source: MW

Singles

As for singles, Bruno Mars’ Just The Way You Are (Amazing) [Elektra] looks set to return to the top of the chart this Sunday, selling another 50,000 copies in the last two days. Its strong sales looks set to deny The Wanted a second number one single: their Heart Vacancy (Geffen) is off to a strong start but is far behind Mars.

New singles from N-Dubz, Kate Perry, Nicki Minaj and Diana Vickers should all debut within the top 20.

Albums

Kings of Leon look certain to top the albums charts this Sunday, after securing massive first-day sales of their new set Come Around Sundown (Columbia).

The band, whose last album Only By the Night has sold 2.5m copies in the UK to date, shifted in excess of 75,000 copies of Come Around Sundown on its first day of release, according to midweek sales flashes from the Official Charts Company.

These strong sales means it looks likely to secure one of – if not the – biggest sales week this year, a record currently held by Eminem’s Recovery (Polydor), which sold 139,438 in one week earlier this summer.

Behind Eminem, Robbie Williams’ new greatest hits set In And Out Of Consciousness (Virgin) sold 121,688 units last week, the second highest weekly total this year, and continues to sell well, currently sitting in second position.

However, Asda and Chris de Burgh’s retail exclusive album is off to a slow start. Moonfleet and Other Stories, released by the singer’s own Ferryman Productions and sold exclusively through the supermarket chain, sold under 800 copies on its first day of release yesterday, putting it outside the top 50.

The Beatles’ remastered best of sets 1967-1970 and 1962-1966 (EMI) should both also debut within the top 10.

Thanks for posting....I had a feeling that Bruno would top the charts again after the song was performed on X Factor. Predictable, but deserving. x
