Tinie and Labrinth set for singles triumph 11:26 | Tuesday September 28, 2010 By Ben Cardew Source: MW Tinie Tempah and the man who produced his two previous hits, Labrinth, look set to debut separately at the top of the singles chart this Sunday. Singles Tempah’s Written In the Stars (Parlophone), the follow up to the Labrinth-produced Pass Out and Frisky, currently has a commanding lead at the top of the midweek sales flashes, selling more than 54,000 copies in its first two days of release. Behind it is Labrinth’s debut single for Syco, Let the Sunshine, which is marginally ahead of the current number one, Bruno Mars’ Just The Way You Are (Amazing) [Elektra]. Meanwhile, Adele’s Bob Dylan cover Make You Feel My Love (XL) is set to move back into the chart thanks to the X Factor. The track, the last single from her 19 album, went to number 26 last November, then re-entered the list at number 24 earlier this month. It now looks set to reach a new chart peak this Sunday, sitting at four in the midweek flashes. Kylie Minogue’s Get Outta My Way (Parlophone) also looks set to climb into the top 10, from its current position of 48, while a couple of reissues – Morrissey’s Everyday Is Like Sunday (Major Minor Records) and Status Quo’s In The Army Now 2010 (Fourth Chord) – should challenge for the top 40. Albums On the albums chart, Mark Ronson & The Business International’s Record Collection (Columbia) has a slender lead at the top over The Script’s Science & Faith (Phonogenic). New albums from KT Tunstall, the Central Band of the RAF and Eric Clapton should all debut within the top 10, while EMI’s re-issue of David Bowie’s classic Station to Station album should also challenge for the 10. Neil Young’s new album Le Noise (Reprise) looks set to miss out on a top 10 debut but should make the top 20. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Top 40 Only Singles 1 Tinie Tempah [54k] 2 Labrinth 3 Bruno Mars 4 Adele 5 Taio Cruz Top 10 8 Kylie Minogue 9 Enrique Iglesias ft. Pleased that the Kylie single is just outside the Top 10, hope it can climb back by Sunday. Nice to see Status Quo Top 30, and Morrissey in there. Hope both can stay in, the Quo could stay but Morrissey looks in danger of falling out. Nice to see KT Tunstall Top 5, and Phil Collins album still selling well. Pity neither have hit singles though. |
