The Script and Linkin Park challenge for albums crown
Source: MW
10:37 | Tuesday September 14, 2010

Singles

The singles chart is considerably more stable: this week’s number one, Alexandra Burke’s Start Without You (Syco), looks set to spend another week on top and there are unlikely to be any new entries in the top 10.

Indeed, the highest new entry should come from Manic Street Preachers with their new single (It’s Not War) Just The End Of Love (Columbia).

Sky 1 talent show Must Be The Music will continue with its record of providing chart hits this Sunday, with Missing Andy’s Song For the Deaf likely to debut within the top 30.

The band’s The Way We’re Made (Made In England), a song not released in conjunction with Must Be The Music, is also likely to enter into the top 40.

Albums

New albums from The Script, Linkin Park, Robert Plant and Phil Collins look set to make top five debuts in the albums chart this Sunday, with new releases from Interpol, Grinderman and Kerry Ellis likely to challenge for the top 10.

In a very busy week for new releases, The Script’s new set Science and Faith (Phonogenic / RCA) is currently leading the running in OCC midweek sales flashes, around 4,000 units ahead of Linkin Park’s A Thousand Suns (Warner Bros).

Robert Plant’s new solo album Band Of Joy (Decca) and Phil Collins’ Motown covers set Going Back (Atlantic) are slightly behind them, with Interpol’s Interpol (Co-operative Music), Grinderman’s Grinderman 2 (Mute) and Kerry Ellis’s Anthems (Decca) all currently occupying top ten places.

Lower down the chart, new albums from Underworld, Rokysopp, Paul Heaton and Robyn should all make the top 30, while new releases from Skunk Anansie, Weezer, Sharon Corr, Black Mountain and Leonard Cohen are in the top 50.

Maroon 5 single is now Top 30 on iTunes, and rising, so could be Top 40 on the next midweek update.

Nothing I need to buy then :P

The new Queen are actually one of the biggest jokes on Earth. Those guys should give up

Hopefully Phil Collins will stay in Top 5 and Manics in Top 20 on singles.

Hang in there MSP!

I think it's safe to say Skunk Anansie won't be in Top 40 on Sunday :(

Very surprised that GOMW by Kylie is not in Top 40 yet. Should be soon or it won't reach top 10.

I hope Kylie makes top 10 with Get Outta My Way. The video's still shit, but the song's v. good.

Any ideas where Alesha's plummeted to?

It's stuck at 51-52 on iTunes UK, it's not doing well at all. Mid week it's 66 (according to Say Hey) It should go top 10 but it looks like it's a fan only track.
